Shoes last longer if you know the technique. Boots will break faster if you stomp like a manic. 1 shoe a year is unrealistic. My shoes have lasted me the past 3 years and they are still fine, and they aren’t expensive.
Hi Christian! I would love to know what brand you are using. I personally don’t use the adelitas for practice since they don’t allow much ankle movement for regions that aren’t from northern Mexico. Another factor to consider is the type of floor you are practicing on. The best and what’s most safe for your joints will always be a proper dance floor. I’ve seen groups practice on concrete which tends to wear down the nails faster and increase the chances of an injury acquiring due to the impact on the joints.
What are some cons of folklorico dresses? I need to make a commercial on them and I’d like to include these cons fixed so “people” would “buy” my product. For example, are folklorico dresses comfortable? If they aren’t my commercial will include how comfortable they are so folklorico dancers will be attracted. Thank you!
Yes the length (depending on the dress) definitely causes some issues along with look ribbon or lace that a lot of dresses have other than than the only other con would be dancing with (sometimes) a lot of fabric, hope this helped 🤗 I’ve been dancing for 5 years so hopefully this is useful
bellydancer here, that has the opportunity to try folklorico class this Tuesday, and i can not staaand people being loud during practice 😤😤 i have a question and I hope someone here can help me. is it ok for folklorico dancers to have tattoos? i have some tattoos on my arms and legs. i have a feeling I will fall in love with folklorico and do the classes, but will I be rejected for tattoos? thank you if anyone can help answer 🙏
I’ve seen a lot of dancers with tattoos in the SoCal area. From my experience, directors are okay with piercings and tattoos as long as you cover up/hide them for performances. I always take out my eyebrow piercing when I perform. ☺️
Hey, I am someone who dresses like the Edwardian era and I happened to stumble across this video because I am looking for accurate to the time period without paying the price of $250 or above. I want to know if it is acceptable to get dance boots to wear on almost a daily since they are very accurate to what the 1890s-1910s has to offer? I dont want to offend anyone, and would like insight from an inside source.
Hey Nikki! That’s totally fine because folklorico actually has influences from Europe! For instance, our folklorico shoes are actually very similar to flamenco shoes.
Folk...not flo. Please try to make the transition to say it correctly. It's folk lorico...not flok lorico. I do enjoy your time in sharing your thoughts.
Hello! I appreciate the correction I’ve been working on it, since the first time it’s been mentioned, by asking others on the pronunciation since I recognize I tend to mispronounce the word. It’s just taking me a while fix since I’m rewiring muscle memory.

Hi Carmen! I’ve been working on it 😁 I finally got a response from a friend to help me out.
Well before you instruct others on mistakes you should pronounce the art form correctly. It’s FOL-kloristas. Not FLO-koristas.
