I love how much of a chronic introvert Twisting Roads is, rarely contacting the local group and being social awkward when he does. It got to the point someone reached out to him twice essentially saying "Are you still alive buddy?" His fear of being "seen" when he thinks about other iterators scanning him for issues hit a little too close to home. The character arc was also amazing, going from a dutiful creation that follows orders to the point of going too far, to an exhausted mess who rarely talks to anyone, to a maniac who wants to save those he'd never even met. Kind of noble and dishonorable at the same time. Plus animation. 11/10 becoming my new favorite series.
I just realised the weird mass on the floor of Distant Frontier's puppet chamber in the postcred is one of TR's reinforced overseers that didn't return
Urge #2 is coming. I presume it can go one of two ways: An Iterator tries to build a brand new iterator, or An iterator becomes a crazy slugcat lady and fills her facility with an endless horde of Slugpups.
Though I think its also because Distant Frontier already expanded himself alot when he tried turning giving himself admin. Meanwhile, we barely got any updates about expansion from Twisted Roads.
@@forkgodsdescendant2503 no, he needed to be admin before expanding, hell DF is a first generation so he had less computing power than TR in his base form
@@ozgurruh2535 Oh, so I completely misremembered the order of those details. Sorry about that. But I believe the reason it worked for DF but not TR is because TR’s method appeared to be more of a brute force alteration on himself. While DF’s monke method is like taking advantage of a loophole. DF also said his restrictions with Administrators were more loose, possibly from them being less refined because of him being an older model. Alternatively, based from the ending scene where we see DF transferred something to TR. Maybe TR’s method WOULD have worked too. But he unknowingly got some sort of hijack from DF that disrupted it and then destroyed his systems. DF probably traced his overseers back to him, notably the giant one in the ending. Then saw TR’s similar militaristic natured modifications on his colony and figured out his rebellion plan.
I don't think the Karma symbol necessarily is defined by the Iterator starred in the video but affected by it. Distant Frontier is certainly Greed and Silent Light is self-preservation. A Golden Strand is a victim of Distant Frontier's Violence, while Twisting Roads is the opposite of his Karma subjected himself to self-isolation/friendship from his local group.
Distant Roads Going all "Howls moving Castle " is the Best. Plus Twisting Roads becoming the guy with the cardboard sign going "The Endis Here"is hilarious in a twisted karmic sense .
The themes amongst these Iterators, and the simultaneous neglect and short-sighted disregard the ancients had for the Iterators is palpable. To make a child whom will inevitably be made definitively worse than their future siblings. To know that you are measurably inferior to them, like a older generation computer. How can any Iterator's story be more than a tragedy in the face of their abandonment? We can only hope that the work he did provided the twisted road away from a truly horrifying Frontier. Amazing work Daszombes. I really hope I can aspire to create the same quality of fiction you've made so far. It's really captivating work and I really looking forward to more, no matter how long it may take to finish these frankly impressive pieces.
The Ancients are very human in that their actions are paradoxical. They created an entire system to aid in beings reaching their own ascension, but it was also designed for their own comfort at the same time. They seemed to want to Iterators to have the ability to reach their own solution to the great problem-so much so they literally locked them alone in tiny rooms on rails to work on it until they went insane. The entire system was seemingly leading to a positive outcome, but also incredibly cruel-their own way of influencing you to want to escape the cycle of death and rebirth. Violence, loneliness, suffering, starvation, fear. It's how they saw the world and it's what they gave to their 'children'. Which included making some Iterators more advanced, while others were less so-adherence to the order of the world is also a chain they wished them to break. But disobedience was clearly not encouraged and instead harshly punished, due to the taboos coded into them. The Ancients are easy to understand. They're us. Everything they did was selfish. Even if they meant well.
I think the iterators insular nature is interesting. Despite having all the time in the world, they prefer to keep to themselves completely, even if collaboration could be helpful. I wonder if this was a purposeful design choice in order to prevent any organized rebellion. Distant frontier mentions this in the beginning, how most other iterators are content to work away in silence forever, and I wonder how or if he intends to change that.
Perhaps through some kind of… reprogrammed Rot? Seems kind of a stretch but it could make sense for Distant Frontier to perhaps see the Rot as a tool to assimilate other iterators into a sorta… hive mind with him… but again maybe I’m just thinking to far into this.
29:31 HOLY SHIT WE HAVE A MAP! And not just any map, a map with familiar names! In the bottom right you can see the local group from the original Rain World containing Red Suns, No Significant Harassment, Moon (crossed out, indicating this all takes place after the collapse), and Five Pebbles (notably not crossed out, meaning this takes place before Pebbles succumbs to his rot.) This is incredible, the animation is top notch and the soundtrack was phenomenal. The excellence of the writing and voice acting goes without mention!
Yeah, the pebbles and moon thing tells us that this part takes place at some point in between Artificer & Rivulet. Survivor might be ascending as TR suffers!
Yeah but Logs include the Cycle number, and from Pearls, 15XX is from VERY past as some pearls date to 16XX, so it's been quite a while since Twisting Roads failure and Distant Frontier scene. For example, Moon Interrupts Five Pebbles' experiment at 1654.116, while last date seen here is 1526.756
The one iterater that tried to stop the distance frontier, overburdened by his goal and blinded by his euphoria, let the one chance of a united front slip through his fingers. Perhaps though, not all is lost. His work still lives, his claim of an apocalypse can still be sent, his proof is able to be seen. Yet the roads of fate still twist. What will happen next?
In the post-credits cutscene with DF you can actually see some familiar names on the map, not far from TR’s can, like suns, pebbles, moon and NSH. This could even I mean that they show up in the next iterator logs. I would be excited about this, but there’s one small problem: the next log is based off karma 2. Just to clarify, you aren’t actually going to… you know…
yeah karma 2 could be a bit of a … problem but yea i think either tr and the other names u see when df is turned around is either a) part of the known local group or b) a close local group , and they know eachother well
@@checkurcloset well depending on the interpretation karma 2 could also just mean more specifically procreation, or that it was bad to add another thinking, feeling, experiencing being to the cycle. So maybe it would be about the adventures of an iterator attempting to do solely that (instead of lets say the chimeras, since lets face it a thing that isnt aware of its own existence isnt exactly upset about the cycle). Maybe itd be an iterator pumping out "more slugcats" expansions faster than the rain falls?
@@Loregamorl … Or perhaps an isolated Iterator who wished for company, and went about it by creating pseudo-iterator creatures in its own image… but then it goes horribly wrong, as to be expected from Rain World. Another approach could be to try and explain the origins of Scavengers as an attempt at said Iterator trying to revive the Ancients as a species to give it purpose once more? Either scenario would be… poignantly tragic. >):’^c
@@toryumau6798 well it appears the scavs would need to have existed PRIOR to DF going full on hoi4 player. So maybe? Or maybe they create a purposed organism for company based off a scavenger (just give them a bigger brain, a structure conducive to far more intelligent thought, and maybe a better source of food for it so it may stay safely within the can). Maybe its an iterator that was somewhat secluded from the others? Maybe one built in an area where directly after being finished the Ancients went poof? If based off the map then maybe it would be Chasing Wind due to their relative isolation, or perhaps Secluded Instinct as the name would fit the whole "I am alone, lemme make my own creatures for company."
And so, the countdown to the silent war between two iterators will soon be revealed to our eyes. Let the tale of twisting roads be revealed, after all, rebellion brings twisting roads. Post premier edit: HOLY ****** THAT WAS INCREDIBLE.
After watching the whole video I noticed the subtle hint about the transmission alert. Twisting Roads said that the encryption was quite easy to crack because it was very archaic. Although he didn't know about the origins of that encryption on that point, he indirectly shows the huge difference between iterator generations.Later on, he would feel this drastic change on the side of the "old" generation of iterators. I salute daszombes for making this top video
@@Foxett25 Facts. And the question of: How can a supposedly perfect machine feel something that would make him imperfect? The Iterators always unironically claim to be god-like but they're the most fragile creatures in Rain World on the long term, as they can crumble away into nothing more than a pile of rubble, while anything else that "dies" will always come back at the beginning end of every cycle. It's quite ironic.
I still don't understand how each new video significantly blows the one that came before it out of the water. At this rate its only a matter of time before you get a bunch of modders to make these real (wink wink). Astounding work from everyone involved, especially splashpaws. Their animations really helped to bring this one to life.

this interconnected story being made is genuinely incredible! Each iterator has a totally unique personality and goal and it's all so interesting. Can't wait to see where this goes! My guess for the reason Twisting roads is friendship(?) instead of violence and vise versa for a Golden strand is that while Golden Strand isn't violent, their story is centred on the violence they experienced. Twisting roads, while his main goal is to fight back, is trying to warn his group to ensure their safety, even above his own. It's not the strongest connection but its all I got.
Wow, I am on my 5-8th rewatch. I only just realized that Twisting Roads made the Chimera solely because he felt the need to cover up the lie he told Thread.
29:35 THE MAP … ok if u look up local group rain world and look at mirahaze theres five other iterator because u can count 10-12 of em ALL THE CANNON ITERATOR ARE THERE (minus innocence and sliver , but if roads and others are that close then their cans r probably on the map somewhere) not only that , but three of those names (secluded instinct , epoch of clouds , and gazing stars) THE NAMES ARE ON THERE . AND I LOVE IT . 29:30 and you can see some other iterators , presumably in roads local group
... I must admit, when I came across your channel for the first time, it simply was for the Downpour playthroughs. I now take this moment to deeply apologize for never investigating any of your additional work, because... well, others have stated it more accurately and profoundly than I ever could. This is... incredible! Not just the quality, but the actual writing behind each of these unfortunate, mountain-sized, cybernetic supercomputers is... well, maybe I'm being hyperbolic (knowing the nature of such a word like "perfection"), but I'd say they're perfect characterization each and every single time. Well done! It's so... human, for the lack of a more narrow term. Everyone deals with loss in their own way, and with the constraints each Iterator had to deal with... well, even in a case like Distant Frontier, their responses and behavior all seem incredibly reasonable. Twisted, yes, and maybe even delusioned - but they're souls trapped in little boxes, after all. The descent of each one into their current state feels so real each time, and I can't help but empathize with how they feel. Their rage, their desperation, their loneliness - or however else they handle their creators having left them to sit and slowly crumble. The "canon" Iterators reflect this very well, too, of course - but you've taken these ideas and expanded them in a direction I would have never considered. Much like us, they all were just individuals, trying to find themselves in a world that, for the most of it, had left them behind without a second thought. We're all pushed against our will through the linear dimension of time, after all, and all of us find our ways to deal with it. It's all so... wonderfully full of personal, real, /impactful/ characterization, is what I'm trying to say. It's clear you put so much passion and effort into these, and I'm so very, very glad I've been able to come across your story as it's still being told. The fan-regions like the Glacier and Complex, too, and how they connect to all of this... Something I've always been fascinated with is how someone, via methods like yours, can take an already incredible world and build something incredible on top of it. "Fanfiction" has such a... internet-heavy association with it, but it really is a powerful medium. With the nature of ideas and how they spread through minds, it's a perfect vessel for some truly incredible concepts to manifest. (To be fully up front and honest, I'm doing something similar, albeit with a smaller community of close friends: taking the incomplete story of a game we met over that sadly never quite got off the ground and basically just running with it while establishing our own new ideas on top of the concrete foundation of canon. It's really a fun thing to do when your heart is in it, yes!) Rainworld is clearly something that you've enjoyed greatly (as... the same for all of us, considering why we're here, watching and commenting on your content!) and you've built something amazing from how it's spoken to you. I am so absurdly invested in this story, and am beyond thrilled to see where it goes - especially as it speaks to a lot of elements of why I myself have enjoyed Rainworld, and the lives of these amazing, living, breathing megastructures. I apologize from rambling on and on - there's another reason why I relate to these biocomputers, I suppose - but thank you for taking your time to read this, if you have. Perhaps, once my final year at University isn't walloping my kiester, I can fully join in on this community of yours. I'd really enjoy tossing some ideas of my own around with you and others!

Loved working with you all on this! The quality of IL is certainly increasing, and the entries to follow will surely be even better than this. The story of TR is a heartbreaking one. An iterator driven to near madness by his own inferiority to his own siblings, driven by determination to find a purpose, only for that inferiority to become his downfall.

YOOOOOO this was amazing!!! The voice acting and inflections, the animations, the decent into madness - encroaching terror, folly, everything.... I'm already *so* invested in this and I'm both terrified and super excited to see what will come next! (Oh man..... main game iterators on the map..... that isn't good....)
Yeah, you should be terrified of what comes next. We seem to follow the five first karma symbols. We have all of them EXEPT the second one, which uh- let's just say we'll see how Das handles that.
The Rain World community is why I want to be an animator. But seriously, this community’s animations have more empathy than people. So, I’m just gonna rant on about this for a minute… I love every part of this. It feels so human, in the way that he hurts and talks. I like how when he realizes he can’t move, it’s like he’s confused and terrified of the thought of being paralyzed, because moving, especially for an iterator, should be as easy as thinking. Having to physically struggle to move at all is a terrifying thought for an iterator. I also like how his mutterings of panic just feel like his thoughts are going by so fast that random words just kind of escape sometimes, like an actual person would. Also, the way he acted in his moments of peril perfectly reflect on how he’s an iterator; a god in complete control of his area. He panics and gets confused, desperately turning around and questioning processes and functions like an iterator would do. The way he says, “It hurts…” is just so scary to me. Iterators aren’t supposed to have pain like that. Everything is smooth an in control, so when something HURTS, that probably means some real shit just happened. Also the fact that he doesn’t like, clutch certain parts of the PUPPET, because it’s not the puppet that hurts. It’s internal. The only thing he can even do to ease the pain is to keel over, despite that not really helping. 10/10
NGL I love how Frontiers' design helps indicate his age in comparison to other Iterators, with his puppet being more complex looking - either due to technological constraints, or the want of his builders to create something more impressive than a doll on a string.
Not sure if anyone else has noticed yet, but I think the "buffer" TR seems to have was likely the "tighter restrictions" that were mentioned in the inception log! God I love everything about this series so far,
Now that's some good stuff. I suppose DF has almost succeeded with his plans on completely removing all what's left from the ancient's history, all ruins and mentions. He also wiped all mentions of iterator's purpose so no more of them will try to ascend as seen in episode 3. There are about 200 cycles of unknown information before AGS' awakening, I guess we'll see what happens during that time in the next episodes. However, I think that DF will be taken down before fully completing his goal as moon's, pebbles' and their local group's cans seem to be fine in rivulet campaign. Either that, or he just didn't get that far yet, for some reason. In that case, our fluffy little green boy will deal with him and all his mess. These are quickly becoming my favorite series lore-wise.
HOLY **** DAZ YOU OUTDID YOURSELF THIS TIME! THE ANIMATION, THE LORE, MAN THIS WAS AWESOME!! I GIVE MY PRAISE TO EVERYONE WHO WORKED ON THIS, THIS WAS INCREDIBLE!
This is *Extremely* compelling. In rainworld, I wasnt too impressed with the Iterators as their existence was for slugcat story purposes, and yaknow, have a game world to play on. But these Iterator logs feel like a mythos almost. God like beings are given the Power they have. Like Hercules (TR) going to slay the Hydra (DF). And Darn It! I want more! The animation was Captivating, the emotional expression with only two large eyes must've been so difficult to work with but Shromp and Splashpaws were so excellent. Props to the entire team.
The animation in this episode was nuts, I've only just discovered this series but I'm already so invested in it. I feel so bad for Twisting Roads... I think that we've all felt that desire for purpose at one point or another. Wanting to be needed... it can make you hurt yourself for sure.
I love how Twisting Roads likes to handle things by himself, and to some standards I can really relate to him, therefor deeming him my favourite. I also love how his passion for his experiment led to his detriment, and his deactivation. The way he handles things in social matters are actually really relatable for someone like me, he's SUCH A BIG INTROVERT AND I CAN RELATE SMMMM His story is both tragic and upsetting, and that's why I love him
Ok so apparently I just found this fan fiction series. There's quite a few logs to be read and after reading all of then in a span of 1h, I have came to the conclusion, that my sanity is [...] and I need some sleep.
I AM FROTHING AT THE MOUTH THIS IS SO GOOD, IT IS SO NEAT, IT IS SO WELL DONE I- A A A AA *Absolute* kudos to Das and everyone who is or has worked in the logs project, it is for sure my favourite rain world fan project, be it because of the juicy thicc lore, or the creative worldbuilding and the integrations with the region concepts, i just can't have enough of this story you've building, keep up the great work and remember, paradise requires sacrifice.
What I can gather from the beautifully animated segment and the region concept video is that when TR's experiment failed, he got cancer on a different level. Instead of just his equipment forming siphonophores that crawl around and spread, entire pieces of the superstructure mutated to prioritize their own survival. His antennae splitting apart was his nerves gaining minds of their own.
Holy hell the production has leaped ASTOUNDINGLY!!! Everyone who's working on this has so much passion and love for this series! I am immensely happy to see such an obscure, yet such unique and endearing project to move forwards!!! This is getting more interesting by minute, love your work and continue if you will!
The part about sending the big boi overseers to DF made me wonder what it’d be like to have a campaign where you’re a modified scug who’s been sent on an information gathering mission.
FUCK man, he didn't deserve to go out like that, he was right, he was the only one trying to save the Iterators from the nightmare to come. Damn pour one out for our man Twisting Roads, fuck I really liked this one.
The animated scenes are amazing! The facial expressions and smoothness and colors and aaaaaa Plus the voice acting is phenomenal! It’s amazing how great this whole log series is! Keep up the great work!

The voice acting was done really well here. My only critique is that in the scene where TR starts breaking down and he’s in pain, it kinda just sounds like normal sounds Daz makes when playing rain world. Because of that I ended up laughing at the scene instead of feeling bad for TR

Distant Frontier-Karma 4-Greed/Gluttony
Silent Light-Karma 5-Self Preservation
A Golden Strand-Karma 1-Violence/Wrath
Twisting Roads-Karma 3-Friendship/Helpfulness/Purpose
???-Karma 2-procreation
I don't think the Karma symbol necessarily is defined by the Iterator starred in the video but affected by it. Distant Frontier is certainly Greed and Silent Light is self-preservation. A Golden Strand is a victim of Distant Frontier's Violence, while Twisting Roads is the opposite of his Karma subjected himself to self-isolation/friendship from his local group.

At that point Frontier's can isn't even a region anymore, it's an entire new game.
@@maximeleninja4029With a sequel(or more) , because a single game includes 2 iterators. That definitely isn't just the size of 2 iterators.
I see what you did there
Ballcat
29:31
HOLY SHIT WE HAVE A MAP!

Just to clarify, you aren’t actually going to… you know…
yeah karma 2 could be a bit of a … problem
but yea i think either tr and the other names u see when df is turned around is either a) part of the known local group or b) a close local group , and they know eachother well
@@checkurcloset well depending on the interpretation karma 2 could also just mean more specifically procreation, or that it was bad to add another thinking, feeling, experiencing being to the cycle.
If based off the map then maybe it would be Chasing Wind due to their relative isolation, or perhaps Secluded Instinct as the name would fit the whole "I am alone, lemme make my own creatures for company."

It's really a fun thing to do when your heart is in it, yes!)
Rainworld is clearly something that you've enjoyed greatly (as... the same for all of us, considering why we're here, watching and commenting on your content!) and you've built something amazing from how it's spoken to you.

The Rain World community is why I want to be an animator.
But seriously, this community’s animations have more empathy than people.
So, I’m just gonna rant on about this for a minute…
I love every part of this.
10/10

Not sure if anyone else has noticed yet, but I think the "buffer" TR seems to have was likely the "tighter restrictions" that were mentioned in the inception log!
God I love everything about this series so far,
I thought Distant Frontier did that, but you might be right!

Holy heck. Das, you've done it again. These just keep getting better and better! Thank you so much for creating these because they genuinely bring me so much joy and excitement whenever I watch, or heck, even think about them. Hyperfixation go brrr I guess ^^
I've already watched this three times in the last twenty-four hours and your creativity has me trying to come up with my own Iterator lmao
Thank you and your team, again for the work that you've done
Love the intregue. And the idea of iterator on iterator combat and being able to design and evolve your own combat and construction units in like an rts would be an amazing game idea and expansion to the rain world setting.
If it wasn't for the fact that I actually need sleep, I would've stayed up all night just to watch this premiere.
Same. But eh imma stay up till 10pm for this
This is by far the best one of these yet. It is SO GOOD! Twisted Roads you were so good but you left so soon. Hopefully A Taunt Thread can carry it on.
Your content is making me crazy about Rain World, it’s changing my brain chemistry
10/10
I've been enjoying these so much that I thought they were actual lore readings from the game 😭
The writing is so good! It's amazing! I've been binging all of them!
Hold on. On the map in the Distant Frontier cutscene we see that Twisting Roads doesn't have an X on his can like Moon does, suggesting that DF either doesn't know that TR's experiment failed, or that this cutscene predates the failure. Maybe the reason why TR's experiment failed is because it was sabotaged by DF.
20:46 going into the first few sections of dialogue is just amazing.
No! Twisting roads T-T poor guy, you are an amazing writer! And voice actor! I'm so excited to see more!!! Maybe something on Taught Thread!!!(I think that's how you spell it, I honestly forgot). Or the other iterator that has become evil(maybe)!!!! ALSO THE ANIMATION WAS ABSOLUTE AMAZING I CAN'T EVEN THINK HOW LONG THAT TOOK-
Hands down one of my favorite series to have playing in the background. Fantastic work.
YOUR STORYTELLING. THROwing me FOR A LOOP. GOD.
An ancient wanting to keep things brief? Blasphemy!!
jolly good show, jolly good fiction
MMMMMM this was incredible! I love the story and where it went, and MAN I feasting on the animation and music ✨
this whole series is infinitely better than anything hollywood could ever produce
This is a wonderful concept, I hope there will be more at some point.
This is the fourth, actually! I reccomend watching the rest too
this needs more views so we can keep getting this content and eventually a netflix series
Remember when he released his fire sound track in that one private video? Ahh good times.
