@@castironkev I hear ya. But helper handles have only been on their 10 and 12 inch pans since the late 1990's. And initially Lodge didn't have the company name on any of their helper handles. They began adding the name Lodge on the helper handles around 2010. So the pan you have is newer than 2010 and is the current style sold in stores. I'm not trying to be a jerk... just saying that the style you have was never ground smooth.

19:44 any Lodge with that that kind of helper handle is the current style. It won't be smooth unless someone took a grinder/sander to it.
Believe it or not, some of the helper handles from 70/80s I find do have the old school finish! But 97% of them do not, like you said..
