    Nice job. Getting ready to run a version of The Haunting to start a new group.
    Had to change it up quite a bit (I'm sure the players have played it before but I always like to start with it) but it's still The Haunting at it's core.
    7th Edition has a set of four pre-gens, now, so that's good.

Your scenario breakdown videos contain a plethora of tips and are truly appreciated. A HUGE thank you also for uploading the breakdown pics. Assuming only Keepers reading, if you are an investigator, turn your eyes away. I portrayed Corbitt almost as a lich, who drained energy from those who lived in the house. I had a general idea of buffing him up, so if the investigators tried to go straight to the house, they would face a much stronger enemy than the scenario had planned. As the week progressed, he began to weaken to the original stats.

    • @RPGNook
      @RPGNook  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is a nice possible solution, but honestly its a really hard fight as is, i'd perhaps allow the rats roam the rest of the house with the three elements down there all at once its pretty bleak already.

    • @Skullkan6
      @Skullkan6 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@RPGNook Honestly the only thing I would recommend is buffing corbitt if they try killing him with guns. I've heard a lot of stories of novice keepers not realizing how armor rules work against shotguns or etc. and having players gun down "poor mr. Corbitt".
      There should be no "Poor Mr. Corbitt".

    Again,.. thank you so much for sharing this very inspirational video.

    • @RPGNook
      @RPGNook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there,
      the maps were produced by someone else, there is clear credits in the download, but these are done using a dungeon builder, and then photoshopping assets on to it. I'll be updating the haunting download in the new year, as well, to be purely my own assets. Good Luck with your game, Merry Xmas.

  • @sertaki

    two of my groups have solved this situation by themselves with some gasoline, no asking the landlord to level anything! :D
    (And I run this house as part of a tiny town close to Boston, on the border to a forest area - so there wasn't any great fire hazard. Just one house burning, and some people watching the flames, usually stained with blood)

    Great video, but I noticed one thing: the map on the ground floor of the house is different from the one shown in the Guardian Book in The Haunting. The first room is quite large in the original book, but in this illustration you showed, it is quite small. This confused me a lot.

    • @RPGNook
      @RPGNook  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what the Guardian book is? yeah, the house is different, but it doesn't really matter at all you could play it without a map or create your own layout, as long at the rooms within are mostly the same content, sizes, shape, descriptions, can all change. There are quite a few differences to the structure of the house, but the rooms within are the same. If you wish to use the original maps, go for it.

    • @_FranciOficial_
      @_FranciOficial_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RPGNook That is the problem. The content of the rooms is different. In the book, it says it's a deposit. But in the illustration, they are just stairs that go to a place that I have no idea where they are, because these stairs do not exist in the book's description.

    • @RPGNook
      @RPGNook  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is two sets of stairs on the map. One leads up to the second floor, across from the kitchen . The second leads to the basement, which is in the hallway near the front door. Yes it is different but they lead to the exact same locations they should. Ie the basement and the upstairs hall.

    Hi, thanks for this just getting ready to run this for first time on roll20. Does the improved map of corbitt house you mentioned have dynamic lighting? I am keen to use this aspect for maps in my Cthulhu games as i think it will be good for tension! Cheers.

    • @RPGNook
      @RPGNook  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dynamic light requires setting up for the maps i've got in the pack, only roll20 official content that you buy from their store will have it set up for you. However! you can set it up yourself, with a bit of time its easy enough to do. there should be plenty of DnD videos on youtube that will show you the ins and out of that feature, they use it extensively.

      @5HT_Ronin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RPGNook I like the clean and logical way you lay it out. If there's one comment I have about Call of Cthulhu scenarios and books in general is that their layout style is antiquated. While the subject matter is historical, the layout should not be. So many of the great content is hidden inside walls of text and game mechanic sequences where a good flow chart would improve things. Admittedly I can see a few flow charts but they're not front and centre most of the time. Scenarios shouldn't read like a novel IMO.

    • @RPGNook
