Hey all! Dawn wanted to mention that Oil pastels can actually work great both over AND under Pan Pastels. Since they have the same consistency as water mixable oils, Pan Pastels stick to them really well!

The Pan Pastels are very expensive and are never on sale!

Can I use the PanPastels over a thin layer of oil paint? Or does it need to be water mixable oil paint?

You can! It would work the same as with water-mixable oils. The benefit of water-mixable oils is that, if any gets on the sponge, it can be washed off with soap and water, rather than harsh solvents.
