My daughter got accepted to UCSD Seventh college but we were so confused about the colleges and how everything worked that she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go there. These videos are super helpful!
I’m a future student of seventh college (biochem major) and I’m pretty excited about it! The whole changing planet thing is very interesting to me and I feel fits me perfectly. Thanks for the video!
Just committed to go UCSD seventh college as electrical engineering major. This video really helped me understand how UCSD operates, and cleared a lot of my questions in mind. Thank you!
Recently got in for global health at 7th and after watching your vid it definetly makes sense why I was placed here, I’m so excited to (probably) attend this fall! I remember watching your advice video before applying and it helped me so much :)
Thank you for the information, I got accepted into Global Health in Seventh College and this video eased my nerves and let me know more about the college.
heyy ik its been a year but i also got accepted into global health in seventh college today! im wondering how its going with ur academics rn and if you personally enjoy everything such as the dorms, meals, classes, people, etc. would be much appreciated if u answered!
@@sulbean8662 hi!! I would really love to be able to answer your question but I actually didn’t end up attending UCSD :( I hope you get your questions answered soon though!! Also good luck in college!!
@@melinanieto4236 oh wow thanks for answering so quickly! and if you dont mind me asking on why you decided not to attend the school? kinda scaring me right now haha i hope it wasn't anything bad
@@sulbean8662 haha no problem! No it wasn’t anything bad, the schools great and I have friends that are students there. The reason why I decided not to attend is because they weren’t offering me enough financial aid and so I couldn’t afford it :(
I've been casually following your interesting videos for the past months. And just yesterday I was waitlisted by the doctoral program at UCSD! Not sure my chance to get in since I have offers from other institutions, but equally happy to be waitlisted by UCSD since that program is super competitive. :-)
thanks a lot. my son most likely will come to Sixth College (yeah your college) for Economics major this fall! btw, I’d like to hear about church life as we’re christians as well!
That's so cool! And in terms of churches, there's a good number of churches that cater to UCSD students, so there's plenty of ways to be involved. I currently attend a church called Lighthouse Bible Church, which has a college ministry - my faith has grown a lot since joining LBC, so I'm really grateful for it! There are also some other good church options as well. If you'd like more specific information about it feel free to email me at r2seo@ucsd.edu
I think probably has more of an environmental emphasis! Not sure if it's that much different but tbh it's probably hard to come up with like 8 different themes without any overlap lol
Thank you for providing so many useful videos! I want to know a bit about how the double major or minor things work at UCSD. Could you tell me a bit? :)
Hi! Not sure what you want to know, but basically if you think you can swing it you can major / minor in multiple things! Typically people double major / minor if they're already taking a lot of specific classes in a given area (for example, if your GEs are already requiring you to take a lot of courses in cognitive science, some students might just want to pick up a cognitive science minor). Hope this helps!
Which college is best for somebody who is psych and pre-med who likes newish dorms? Are new dorms under construction next to where sixth college currently exists?
I'm a transfer student who got into Muir for Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. I hear transfers will be housed in Seventh College so I'm hoping to get more information about the location and housing.
All the information in this video is the info I have right now! From my understanding, part of the transfers will live in the Village, and part of them will live in the old Sixth College (which is where I lived during my freshman year - to see what the housing was like refer to this video: th-cam.com/video/X2lMmoyrHzg/w-d-xo.html)
Congratulations! And I'm not 100% sure now, because of COVID-19, but Sixth students coming in this fall are supposed to have the new dorm rooms being built right now.
is seventh known as holding all the " transfer students", also you mentioned sixth is going to be rebuild to the top, has thar happened yet? Thanks for ur information! Helped alot .
Thank you, I just got accepted as a major in Theater there! I will come back and give you an update on Seventh! Edit: I got a huge scholarship from UC Irvine, so I never went to UC San Diego T^T
Unfortunately I'm not in Marshall, so I don't really know a lot of in-depth stuff about it! If you have any more questions, feel free to email me at r2seo@ucsd.edu or DM me on Instagram @rachelaseo & I can forward them to my friends who are in Marshall :)
I realized I chose 7th college without truly looking into the requirement classes. I’m terrified as I know it’s a never college in UCSD. Anyone has any opinion on the required Courses?
I'm applying to UCSD majoring in Biochemistry. Could you recommend to me which college to go to? I want to pick a college that emphasizes its STEM education and less writing as possible. Many thanks in advance!
Hi Rachel! Any idea where transfer students will be housed now? I know they used to be in The Village. P.S. your videos helped me a lot! Was just accepted as a transfer in my favorite college
Hi! So from my understanding, transfer students will be split between the Village (where Seventh College is going to be housed) and the old Sixth College (where I lived during my freshman year - to get a glimpse of what it looks like check out this video here: th-cam.com/video/X2lMmoyrHzg/w-d-xo.html)
Lower division courses are any courses with unit numbers under 100 (for ex: PSYC 60, or LTEN 21). These are typically entry-level courses or general ed requirements. Upper division classes are any courses with unit numbers above 100 (LTAM 110 or PSY 180). These are typically major course requirements, and you'll have to have taken a certain number of units at UCSD, I believe, in order to take them, unless you petition.
So if all the colleges have the same major but only different GE, writing sequence, and location, what’s the point of the 7th college? And the incoming 8th college? And possibly 9th? (Lol), if all colleges have same majors, what the point? How do they determine which college you get into if most people pick Muir as first choice?
it's to split the resources (for ex: academic advising) evenly among students and help it feel like a smaller community. i can't say what most people choose but you have to rank the colleges on your application (1-7) and i'm sure that many people do not put muir as their top choice
All the colleges are designed for people with any major/on any track, so yes, Seventh College (& the other colleges) are good for people on a premed track!

How different is Sixth College now?
kind of a dum question but what is the difference between lower division & upper division courses?
Lower division courses are any courses with unit numbers under 100 (for ex: PSYC 60, or LTEN 21). These are typically entry-level courses or general ed requirements. Upper division classes are any courses with unit numbers above 100 (LTAM 110 or PSY 180). So if im going in fall 2021 as an econ major ill probably be in the 7th?
Depends on how you rank your colleges :)
Is this college good for people on a premed track?

How many times have you changed your major ?
I haven't changed my major at all, just added a minor! :)
