    To keep your dining area/room a nice size do not put a wash basin in the space. Wash your hands in the bathroom or in the kitchen you still will be sanitary. Just a suggestion. Joyce look at furniture design magazines for modern ideas.

    Joyce remove those old tiles and ask the electrician to add more sockets for a microwave, kettle and one for electrical appliances like your blender and baking aid appliances . The sockets should not be too high on the wall like those ones in your kitchen . They should be inches from the counter top.

    I would not put contact paper in my kitchen. If you have heat close to the paper it could melt or bubble. Also sometimes grease stains it. I would rather have two different tiles. By the time you put your fridge, hood and other stuff in the kitchen you will not see much of the tiles anyway.

    Joyce and Peter, just because you are village people dosen't mean you have to put up with trashy second class work from some Fundis who don't do jobs properly e.g. installing the sockets in the kitchen at the wrong height for the cooker and fridge. And now subscribers are telling you that the outdoor lighting is upside down and too near the front door and if I remember rightly they were fitted by two young lads whose work should have been checked by Mr Mangi. Pity you didn't consult Dixon or someone else whose had that sort of work done before. If you are not going to do jobs twice in the future you need to choose the right qualified people. I would call them back to re-site those wall sockets as they are in a dangerous place

    You might think about painting your cabinets sage green. It is a soft green that goes well with brown tones, yellows and reds. Match your wall tiles in white or cream color. but floor looks good & go with most anything. Sink in living or dining is unnecessary. Open upper cabinet shelves look good, but closed cabinets below for your pots, pans & baking. Upper shelves for dishes. It will be beautiful. Gingham check cafe curtains in yellow will be so pretty & cheap for your windows. I love decorating & design. Wish I was your neighbor.

    Hello Joyce and Peter, I love watching your family. Your garden is so beautiful , to just step outside and have access to Healing herbs, fruits and vegetables WOW! Suggestion: pick a color for your cabinets with a color from your kitchen floor tiles. Suggestion : that small section of tile that doesn’t match the rest of your kitchen, which is concreted to the wall, maybe Dixon can cover with the same wood and color of your cabinets. And maybe decorate with spice racks, hooks for your pots, or ?

    Joyce and Peter, it's nice to see that your kitchen is being upgraded. You can buy a smaller dish rack for when you wash the dishes. Dry them and keep them in the cabinet. This will give you more counter space. White cabinets will be good but remember it gets dirty quickly. I love white. If not get the lighter color from the floor tile. Good luck with whatever you choose. I love to give you a little advice. Love you guys energy.❤

    Don't put contact over the tiles. You might have problems with how long it will stick and how easy it will be to clean. I know you want to keep the tiles but I think long term you'll be way more happy if take the tiles off and get new ones so there is one style over the whole wall. Or take away the tiles that will be behind the fridge so the only tiles you have are the same. You wont see behind the fridge so it doesn't matter. Don't put the extra sink in the dinning area.You can wash hands in the kitchen or bathroom. Leave your table as is. It's a good size and there's enough room for all your family plus friends. Go smaller and you'll feel squashed. White in the kitchen and living area will make it so much brighter. Wait to see if you need to change the door after you paint the wall and get electricity. You might find it's not that dark once everything is done

    Hello Joyce and Peter ❤

  • @Sijkmon71
    @Sijkmon71 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Hi Joyce and Peter, you are doing great and with so many ideas and options it's hard to decide.
    My opinion is that you need to have a base unit cabinet built with shelves underneath to replace the brown cabinet which currently has the cooker on it. This can be customised to have the same amount of open shelves underneath for your cooking pots so needs to have the same width and depth to fit them on. Normally the cooker should be placed on a work countertop like your main black patterned worktop as that's really nice.
    You also want to consider how far from the open space on the left, this new cabinet should be built as right now the brown cabinet with the cooker on is jammed right up to this space and you don't want to lose that space.
    The kitchen bin should go under the sink with the detergents.
    You may want to find another place for the brown cabinet as it will look out of place in your kitchen with white or cream cabinets.
    Hope this helps.😢

    • @patnewman9543
      @patnewman9543 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you would like the brown table sitting in center of kitchen and use as a working island, if there is room. Build cupboard for cooker & for storing cooking utensils . Also, if you don’t have high ceilings, a hanging pot holder from ceiling would be handy & attractive.

    Don’t put cabinets about your kitchen door. You can put them above your fridge, bench top and your pantry will have plenty of storage. Your bench top colour is perfect as stains will not show (I have similar). Also you do not need to remove the non matching tiles. Your fridge will hide most of them. I have just finished my kitchen. It’s hard work but worth it ❤ Please ensure you have electric sockets close enough to the counter but not to close they should be a few inches above the counter so your cords are not going up the wall. Appliance cords are not that long. If you can borrow a toaster or plug in kettle to measure the cord and this will give you the correct height ❤

      @@NinasHere4U let Joyce compare the prices, maybe for now the contact paper will as a short term fix while they gather the money for replacing the tiles, also we who thinks that the family should replace the now than later, it would be nice to get together and gave them ,that gift.

      @catwirecheck8767 I believe they have been blessed with the money to fix it, I wish I could give but as Joyce explained in this video that if we watch all the video and all the ads, that it will help her make money through TH-cam. I also pray for all of them.
      You are right about doing things temporary and that's what I have to do as well but if she can fix it right the first time it will save money in the long run. God bless you!

    Joyce, no sink in your dining area, you have the sink in your bathroom they wash their hand in the bathroom before they come to the dining table

      I believe it's an African tradition to have a sink in the dining area to wash hands before and after meals.

      @@Missvivgreeneno it’s not African, think it’s a Kenyan home design tradition. I’ve never seen it anywhere else except in Kenyan homes. We don’t have wash basins in lounge areas or dining rooms here. I agree with most commenters, don’t think you need it if you have kitchen sink or bathroom in the house to wash hands in before dining. Think everything else the home owners proposed would be great. I wouldn’t do wallpaper over tiles either as kitchen is a high moisture area and I’d remove the door from kitchen into passage

      I don't think there is a bathroom as such, it's a toilet room with a hole in the floor. The ideal place for a second sink would be the store room just as you enter the kitchen

    Can you use some of the space in the Living Room arrangement to accommodate a little larger Dining Room?

    Hi Joyce and the rest of the family am so happy for you and your home improvement. Can I suggest not to use contact paper as this is a temporary measure. And will not last forever. I can’t wait to see this transformation.
