The water that comes out is very clean compared to Lake Ontario, and meets (or exceeds) water quality objectives for surface water, however drinking water standards are generally more stringent. Also, laying that much pipe through an active construction site would be a challenge! Most of Toronto’s drinking water does come from the Lake, after being treated, so it’s making its way to your faucet eventually.

At least they didn't use busted up sidewalks and other concrete chunks to line the Don River like they did before.
That water treatment plant that you have onsite could come out of my faucet and I'd be pleased as punch. Why not plumb it to the nearest pumphouse?
