- Kevin Garnett is an NBA Champion, a 15-time all star, and by all accounts one of the best, meanest, most formidable big men to ever play the game. With the ring and reputation he has now, it’s hard to remember that early in his career, it wasn’t so obvious who this young, long player was going to be. Was he the future of the NBA, or was he just another overhyped kid who got our hopes up for no reason? Well, after a certain abysmal playoff game, it looked like KG might be the latter.
With a chance to write a positive narrative for the nascent Timberwolves in game 5 of round 1 against the Supersonics, Kevin Garnett failed to rise to the occasion, buckled under pressure, and played emotionally. He didn’t look like a future star. He looked like he was bad at basketball?
Take a glimpse into the alternate reality that might’ve been. This is Kevin Garnett’s worst playoff game.

lblitzer losing in the first round 7 of the 8 games is not not good if that’s your point and in the 14 years we made the playoffs from 03-04 to 17-18 we had 60+ losing seasons.

Love this series and thought this one was quite a stretch. This could’ve been titled “KG had a bad playoff game”.

At 21 years of age. This by far one of their most biased videos. Fail to mention multiple dominant playoff performances against lakers and kings (dude averaged 24, 15,4, 1.7 stls, 3.4 block in 7 games). And closed out LA in 2008. Unfortunately was never the same after that injury in 2009, even in the LA finals he was getting gased and outrebounded.
The Timberwolves didn’t help by getting their 1st round picks taken away for a majority of his years there too.

The reason one doesn't judge a 21 year old's playoff performance overly harshly isn't to take it easy on his poor feelings, it's because they still have plenty of time to develop and most young NBA players need to cut their teeth a time or two before they're really comfortable. As evidenced by, for example, Garnett's unbelievably clutch 32 pt 21 rb performance in game 7 against the Kings in 2004.

Let me say, I love the series and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
I think Clara still needs to find her voice. She wrote and produced this, but it sounds like something the other guys wrote. The tone of the delivery doesn't really match what I think she brings to the table, and I think in the future she should try to make her own voice heard a bit louder.
I don't want to come off as negative, because she's doing a great job - she's just not Jon Bois and shouldn't try to be.

Garnett is a hall of Famer, one of the best players ever, and most importantly... he did it his way and that's why he is recognized all over the world. One bad game in the playoffs against one of the best teams in that era doesn't mean anything and if think a Win in that game could change the dynamics of the western conference or the T-wolves franchise you don't really know nothing' about what happened in that era!!
Um...I don't think you watched the video. She said Garnett OBVIOUSLY IS A HALL OF FAMER but in 1998 we didn't know that and it was unclear if he was meant to be the highest paid player in the league based on this performance.

Francesco Kasth You speak truth, better yet his front office wasn’t good like the Spurs. When he did get some decent pieces he did something. All in all one man can’t carry a franchise. Kobe, needed Shaq, Phil too win. Micheal need Scottie and Horace. Bird needed Parrish, Mchale and Johnson. Magic need Jabbar and Worthy. Steph needed Klay and Draymond. So if nothing else history tells you that you pretty much need to other superstars or a very good set of role players.
2000-2002, 2004-2006, and 2008 Kevin Garnett was the best power forward in the NBA. He was a great basketball player.
