You can pick up on that because when Sam hesitates when he hears Dean knocking on the door, Lilith provokes him and tells him "You turned yourself into a monster, and now you're not gonna bite?"
One of the things I loved about this episode that doesn't get talked about much, is the stuff with the demon possessed nurse. Sam can't justify killing, even with his hero complex ego and under the effect of the demon blood. This shows that he truly isn't that far gone and I like how he tried to reach out to Dean even after all that happens, he still relies on his big brother. Sucks that the angels messed with the message.
Gotta love Bobby. This is why Bobby is THE man. He'll tell it to ya straight and be real and put ya in your place when need be. I know John is the boys' father, but Bobby is their TRUE father. He loves those boys like they were his own.

To be extremely clear, there was no intention for the show to 'end' after season 5. The only thing that was 'ending' was the first storyline created by Eric Kripke and the end of his direct involvement in the show s possible future seasons. This has been explained at conventions several times by both writers and showrunners and Kripke himself. Showrunners will change several times throughout the series bringing their own bit of uniqueness but they always planned to continue as long as things were going well.
I really love any scene with Sam, Dean, and season 4 Ruby, but especially her death scene. The dialogue was so simple, but all 3 really conveyed a lot. This was one of my favorite finales.
Remember in the beginning of Season 4? Demon bartender Casey made mention of worshipping Lucifer and now look at where we’re at. It pleases something in my brain that the older brother was/broke the first seal and the younger brother broke the last.

One of my favorite episodes! Just the way its shot alone is great especially how at first the color grading was light and then as soon as Dean learns the truth it gets darker. Its subtle but so good 😭
And this is the episode that prevents the boys' kids from watching the series until they're much older. Nobody wants to hear, Daddy, why is Uncle Jensen stabbing Mommy?
What's crazy is that if you rewatch the season and look closely there were signs the angels were in league with the demons. First they told Dean Sam was using his powers but not about the blood drinking, something they should've known, this gets Dean to trust them a little more and start the rift between the brothers. After Sam quits demon blood the demons put them against a threat the requires Sam's powers, this makes him rethink quitting also the angels act like dicks around him which turns him off to them and they drop that Dean lied about what happened in hell, thus furthering the rift. Now Sam does get unreasonably angry with Dean but he lets it go, but who they run into next but Alister and Dean comes clean, and after hearing this Sam feels bad for his brother but starts to think of him as weak and doubts the angels that he's meant to save the world. This plus Ruby's seduction and persuasion gets Sam back on Demon blood and in higher doses, and both brothers are at odds with each other and neither will talk it out.
Lilith did know about the seals all along (and likely Azazel as well), but she wasn't convinced if the stories about Lucifer were true or that Sam was the chosen one until she realized Sam was immune to her powers at the end of S3. Also, she didn't know she had to die for it all to happen until much later. She even offered Sam a chance to stop the seal breaking by making a deal, but when Sam refused, it only made him dig in harder.
Here’s my end of season plea for you to go ahead and watch the blooper reels for 1-4.. there are so many inside jokes and things they did for the fandom coming up in future seasons that you may not get if you haven’t watched the gag reels at the end of the seasons.. 😬🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is my favourite season finale. When I first watched it, I really enjoyed the moral ambiguity, not yet knowing for sure if Sam was on a path of doing something awful for a greater good. The angels were being show to be less that good, so I did believe the show might be going for a symmetry with a demon being less than evil. On rewatch, what I most enjoy is the scenes with Dean and the angels; Zachariah's reveal of Heaven's plans and Dean's reaction to it, and the conversations between Castiel and Dean, where Dean eventually gives him the final push back onto the path of rebelling after being "re-educated". Castiel talks about the pain, the fear, the confusion, the guilt, all things he senses from Dean, that we know Dean is feeling very acutely. And Castiel is no doubt experiencing those emotions himself; confusion about what is right or wrong after a lifetime of not making decisions, feeling guilty about what Heaven has them do but also guilt over disobeying, fearing the consequences for rebelling ... It's easy to see why Castiel would see all this as "bad", and be tempted into believing in the idea that Heaven on Earth, Paradise, is preferable, despite the cost. So I find it very moving when Dean essentially tells him that life and human connection, with all those negative emotions being a part of it, is worth it, preferable to some artificial simulation of eternal bliss. It's a very human experience, having to accept the good with the bad, and a tough thing to do.
I realized what was happening, the moment Zachariah said "Do you really think we would let 65 seals be broken?". Cause Dean broke the first seal, they didn't allow that to happen, they didn't know it was going to happen. So the second he did it, there were only 65 more to be broken. But by the time he says that to Dean, only 64 had been broken so far (other than the first one that didn't depend on them to stop), so he was aware the 65th was about to be broken, and he wasn't going to stop it, so whatever Sam is doing, is to break the seal, not to stop it. So I knew killing Lilith was the last one, which makes sense thinking about it. And I got so mad at Ruby LOL.
There is a deleted scene where Uriel is talking to Cas. He wants to kill Sam but Cas replies that management has said not to touch Sam OR RUBY. This proves that someone in command of Cas's mission was working in conjunction with Azazel and then Lillith to arrange for both the First and Last Seals to be broken by the Winchesters.
Best episode of the season. The reveal that Lilith WAS the seal? Amazing. Bobby MVP as usual. Convincing Dean to keep trying with Sam. Poor Sam… He tried to do the right thing… “good intentions” and all that.. perhaps your season 4 name? Lol. But soooo excited for S5. BEST season of the series coming up. Lucifer!!!
The S4 opener is ANGEL wings! Not crows or ravens. Dean was right all along. Ruby's been manipulating Sam since the beginning. We think she was trying to help Sam save Dean in S3, but think about it: 1) The blinding white light that Lilith shot at Sam didn't damage the house one bit, yet it destroyed a concrete building earlier in the season; 2) Ruby leaves Sam at crucial times to get him cracking out and then that would increase her control on him; 3) Ruby never said WHY she wanted Lilith dead. Never. 4) She said at the beginning of S3 Finale that Sam could save Dean, yet it took all year for him to build up the strength to kill Lilith in S4. A good demon? There is no such thing, even our beloved __________ who you will meet in S5. Poor Ruby?????? Poor nurse girl, yes. But DO NOT give your sympathy to Ruby. She manipulated Sam against his brother. He almost strangled Dean and he smashed Bobby in the face.
I can’t wait for season 5, it’s truly the best of the early seasons. Season 4 set up the tone for pretty much the next two seasons but it’s going to keep getting better from here ( with the exceptions of season 7, 12, and 14- but we got a ways to go before that thankfully).
Ahhh here comes s5 probably one of my fav seasons!!! Supernatural's Lucifer is not Tom Ellis its Mark Pellegrino and he actually suits the devil soooo much better.
The one thing I dislike about this show is the pushing family even if it’s a toxic relationship. It just reinforces that whole trope for people with _actual_ toxic families that they might do better off no contact with.
I think it more about healthy communication being able to heal families and not being to prideful or selfish to listen and try to understand anothers point of view. This was addressed very well in the 'Amara' season and made a huge change in their relationship.

A tip from someone that has rewatched this show way too many times to count: I'd deal with Season 5 as the final season of Supernatural. Enjoy that, appreciate it, and consider that a full circle moment for the show. And then, start Season 6 with the mentality of a Spin Off. Which is not bad, I have my opinions in a few of those seasons for sure, and I'll share when it's time, but I stopped considering it main Supernatural show. I love it, I rewatch it, but I take Seasons 6 to 15 as a sin off show to the masterpiece it was Supernatural S1 to S5. I know many people won't agree with me, and I know it might not be the most popular opinion, but it really helps with managing expectations.
Yeah, I'd say it's similar to Dragonball. The manga is the entire story off both Dragonball and Dragonball Z. Season 1-5 would be the Dragonball bit and Season 6-15 is Dragonball Z ... It's technically all the same story, but you could stop watching after Dragonball and it's fine. You even could start with Dragonball Z (Season 6) and it's fine, even though it is a bit confusing as there was a big story before that xD It would be wild, if we do get Season 16+ out of nowhere (doesn't make much sense, but hey ... who knows xD), similar how Dragonball got Dragonball Super xD
I think Dean truly failed Sam when he refused to go with Sam and Ruby to confront Lillith. If he had gone with them he would have been able to guide Sam away from the decision to kill the nurse at the least and maybe would have forced Ruby to finally expose herself. The entire time since Dean came back and learned of his powers Sam was desperate for Deans approval to work with him rather than against him, even at the end after leaving him Sam's thoughts were still bent towards Dean and it was Zechariah's message that made him hopeless enough to allow a murder and Lillith goading him on with his worst fear that pushed him finish her. "Sam has a part to play, he may need a little nudging in the right direction but we'll make sure he plays it." Sam's insecurities were manipulated in every possible way by both the Angels and Demons from years past and it was easy to drive a wedge between the brothers using Sam's fear of rejection (Ruby being the only person to accept him as is) and Deans self hatred and hatred of Ruby's influence on Sam. It is a known fact that an infant can be born with an addiction if the mother did drugs and that those children are far more susceptible to addiction throughout life. That first taste Azazel gave Sam was intended for awakening power and made him easier to manipulate. Both boys royally screwed up this round but if complete honestly on both sides had been present they would have been too united to be manipulated as easily as they were. Some stuff in the next season really ticks me off! Uhg... I'll stop now.
I respectfully disagree.. It's not Sam's fault that the boys grew up in motel rooms. It's also not Sam's fault that Zachariah sided with bringing on the apocalypse. If we have to side eye anyone.. it's the writers.
Sam should have been dead at 24 years old. He has been controlled and manipulated his entire life by family, demons, and angels. When heaven and hell work together to corrupt and confuse you you're bound to screw up, even though Sam is fundamentally a kinder and more empathetic person than Dean ever is besides the odd kid.
Why are dean fans so blind by his faults, and continue to blame everything on sam, this is the reason show died, cuz dean was made a lead character and sam just a useless side role, cuz writers listened to dean’s whinning fans.

I respectfully disagree.. It's not Sam's fault that the boys grew up in motel rooms. It's also not Sam's fault that Zachariah sided with bringing on the apocalypse. If we have to side eye anyone.. it's the writers.
Sam should have been dead at 24 years old. He has been controlled and manipulated his entire life by family, demons, and angels. When heaven and hell work together to corrupt and confuse you you're bound to screw up, even though Sam is fundamentally a kinder and more empathetic person than Dean ever is besides the odd kid.
Why are dean fans so blind by his faults, and continue to blame everything on sam, this is the reason show died, cuz dean was made a lead character and sam just a useless side role, cuz writers listened to dean’s whinning fans.
