Still better than 99% of the shit hollywood puts out today.
You cant beat the old westerns. Keep um coming.
This movie was a fantastic old western- the mystery thread ran through this tale beautifully. For those ‘nit-picking’ about racially this or that, It’s history, I’m afraid, full of it and we should reflect & learn from history. I’m a Scot, I know my history & hating & bitterness stops you growing & moving forward - surely
that’s how we develop as adults

Great movie.Any Louis L'Amour story made into a movie is awesome to watch.Lovely terrain and good cast to complement this old movie.❤
A damn lot better than most spaghetti westerns that were filmed two decades later. Better plot, acting and dialog. Better camera angles and sets.

Brings back many wonderfil memories of my Dad who loved this author and whose books gave him no end of pleadure and entertainment
Never mind ," I'm going on a few trips.
Far better than I ever expected. A fine cast of characters playing their roles to a tee - the girls were great, though were never huge stars
This is a one of the best old Western movie love it thanks for sharing ♥️
Thanks for watching
love western family movies, they build and created America
Quality movie. Real script. Good acting. More interesting than many
Love Chill Wills. He was really good in Tulsa. With the always BEAUTIFUL and very talented lady Susan Hayward.
Not sure what kind of movies those that call this "hokey" or "awful" watch but too bad they can't appreciate good wholesome entertainment. A classic from 1950 in many ways. People have changed in alot of ways but not for the better in many.
Quarantine brought me here who's watching with me

Good movie, GREAT acting by Barrymore!! I Love old westerns...
One of the best westerns I’ve seen in a long time. Good detailed story, good acting, and above all authentic sets. Certainly ranks alongside The Searchers.
l love old Westerns...
Great western. Thanks You Tube for allowing us to see these movies. 👍👍🇺🇸

Uneek Wright : Don’t understand your meaning of one word there. And Western is spelled this way. Not the way you spelled it. Look it up in the dictionary. 👍👍🇺🇸
This is one of the best western movies I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for having it out for viewing! Great movie! The story had to be pretty creepy back then....loved it!
One of the best Western movies! Even Louis L'amour would like!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😇

That was one of the most nerve wracking Western I’ve ever seen. I had to turn it off half a dozen times because it was too exciting! Thanks for that. 👏👏👏
Really Really Loved It ... Great Western!!!!!...
Interesting, but a bit far-fetched plot (everyone's always jumping to the wrong conclusions). Chill Wills and Jack Elam are just great. And the Big Bend Country is always ruggedly beautiful. Thanks for posting.
Excellent entertainment Western Mania. Not all of 'em but I like a lot of western genre films. Aside from the film's grainy darkness, Chill Wills and the whole cast did some fine acting. Old Chill was Drago in John Wayne's McClintock. Saddle up!!
A very beautiful movie. Thanks Western Mania and the Tube.
Chill Wills ! Drago - on McLintcok - a true Western man and actor.
Adore his characters.
He was hired for a western one time because he could actually drive a six horse team for a stage coach.
Really enjoyed the movie.
Thanks for the great entertainment
thanks for sharing this wonderful movie ....
Terrific movie ☺ thank you for posting it! 👍
Nice watching the oldies, better in reality than the new animated..
Great
That’s a Fact!!!!!
The actors in the new westerns, have no clue how to act like these fells!!!!!!

Thanks so much for this it was a great movie and didn't even have the most well known actors like Jimmy Stuart, John Wayne, etc. But one of my all time favorites Chill Wills, he us truly a classic and a superb actor, he seems to be a true natural. I couldn't believe that was John Barrymore. Anyway, thanks!!
Old Jingles.
I love Westerns specially with those great actors, Saludos desde Canadá
Loved this movie thank you
Great old western. Reminds me of the the movies Roy Rogers used to do.
There was a ranch in southeastern New Mexico in the early 1900's, maybe late 1800's, and it was known as the High Lonesome.
Filmed in Texas.
the part John Barrymore Jr., Drew's father played was very very difficult character, protaganist that you do not like, yet he did a good job of acting. This shows he was a decent actor maybe even good but for his alcoholism inherited by HIS drunken father.
Very good movie. Thanks Western Mania and the Tube.
Alotta things with age deteriorated, my teeth, my hair eyes and bones as well.
But I didn't know my hearing went in the last 10 minutes as well! Could whoever puts these GREAT classics for all us to see,,, allow us too listen to them as well TOO?
They don't make them like this anymore. Great movie.
Has one of my Favorites Jack Elam, when he was just a Pup. Cheers
love the colour, good story, thank you.
I don't mind saying I hate movies where it's a dark you can't see nothing
These things take me back to my childhood. Kewl. Thanks. t
Very good movie..with a different plot.
Good movie!
Thanks for posting.
Good movie, thank you!
Thanks for uploading this.
Thank You !! Good Western ! Good afternoon___11/09/2019
Love Jimmy Stewart so will probably love this.
Great story by Alan Le May = author of novel "The Searchers" made into movie featuring John Wayne (1956)
Believe it is from Luis L'amour book which I happen to have his entire collection.
Not one commercial keep it up
great movie
This is a cool western as it was shot completely on location and in the Big Bend country of Texas aka West Texas. I am familiar with both Brewster and Hudspeth counties and am property shopping and the further on the "as end of nowhere" I can get the better I like it!
Glad you liked the movie. The movie "The Sundowners (1950)" was shot on the same location near Marfa TX. There will Be Blood was too. You can read more in the movie trivia on our website:

Just about all of these old movies are really good. By contrast pretty much everything of the last 25 years is low quality, unoriginal, foul language, nudity and the like. The smut is needed to distract us from the lack of talent and to make up for low quality actors, writers, etc.
Amen 🙏
Barrymore was only 18 when this film was made. It's kind of interesting that it's almost like a James Dean kind of role, but five years away.

A Le May - Templeton Picture. Right on! Swell...!
great western movie the actors were very good enjoyed this movie thank you.

Just read the book, didn't know it was made into a film way back when.Nothing like the book of the same title.

Thanks
Thank you thank you
So much enjoyment
Spikes gang was a good western. Sad ending. Great central theme. Lonesome dove is the only one I have seen I think is any better
Great story Mr. Mojo
After Blazing Saddles westerns were no longer
treated seriously..But Jack was great in film noir
tough films like Kansas City Confidential and
Kiss Me Deadly too...100% class..a true pro.
Nice movie.
A Good Movie
3:35 is subtle but absolute GOLD
I watched.
Wow, what a movie..back when America was great......
America is still great.
Brian P. Lowery, if you think America is not great anymore, why don't you move back to Russia or whatever shitole country you come from?
Shin Kansen there you go telling someone else to move out of country ! That crap gets so damn old ...We all know what "shithole" country is in reference to... Lowery certainly does not sound like a name from your list of "shithole" countries... It appears you are the one who needs to move. Plus dumb ass his reply was 4 years ago!! 🤣😂🤣

This is a good movie about believing someone. About the truth.
+Cornelieus Fields Well said mr fields you have a nice day.
It's about justice, real evidence, and proof. That is a big deal to me.
Good colour!
I've been through Marfa Texas before. Not .much there. I believe about 3,000 people live there they're known for the mysterious lights that show up in the sky my mother used to live in Alpine texas. So we used to go through Marfa quite a bit on the way to VanHorn
Buenas tardes por favor pongan subtitulada en Español. Me gustan mucho estás películas, soy una persona de la tercera edad y no creo aprender inglés. Gracias por su atención
Boy, talk about overacting! JD Barrymore looks like one of those silent movie stars from the 1920's, with his exaggerated facial expressions and manic persona. Only it's the 1950's...he's 30 years too late! :) I can see why this is the one Barrymore most of us have never heard of. The rest of the cast and the movie is fine, though. I've always liked the great Chill Wills. As a western sidekick character actor, he was one of the best. The scenery is beautiful, too.
Kaye, I agree exactly with what you said about Barrymore, he was trying too hard to act, unlike Chill Wills. But, I enjoyed it so much. There is no telling how many westerns Chill Wills has been in, I just know there are many.
Amberlilly is a beautiful name have a great day :o)
yep
Another great picture show!
Jack Elam is the best of the familiar western vilians
+todd and wanda mccullough Nobody better than Jack and his eye
Hey, hey ... let's not forget guys like Neville Brand, Walter Brennen, Lee Van Clief and the like. Jack Elam was one the best.
todd and wanda mccullough : I agree with you about Jack Elam as one of the best bad guys. 👍👍🇺🇸
Good
IT's a Good Ole Western ON!🐴🐎🐂🐃🤠🤤
A+
John archer is brilliant
The Death Fence was a bit north of a large cattle ranch we managed in the Panhandle of Texas.
There are several historic makers along its line telling the tale of that awful winter.
It's near Spearman Texas.
Good movie but it really isn't about the "Big Bend" area of Texas. This movie takes place in the flatter area north of the actual Big Bend, which is beautiful mountainous hiking area near the Mexican border. West Texas has some beautiful mountain ranges rising to around 8000 feet with Maple trees and Connifer/Juniper forests, not the desert shown in the movie.
"High desert" and "low desert" regions are very different in western America. The actual "Big Bend" region of Texas is similar in climate to the Appalachia region of eastern north America and snowfall is not uncommon there.
A beautiful film. certainly one of my top 25 westerns but not my fave.
Great old movies some of them aren't to clear. Is there something that can be done? I love the old ones from the 40's 50' & 60s.. I 'm Not bitching just keep the god ones coming.. Thanks Bill Stoops
very good film 7/10. I have not seen adverts put in the middle before. don't like that
Wow,they don't make'em like that anymore. Excellent movie.
