Seen these live twice, both times they were absolutely phenomenal. Really get the crowd involved, although their latest releases seem a bit flat to me. They had a proper distinctive sound, when they first came out, their becoming a bit lost amongst the masses.
How to match their distortion....I don't know, man. However, this song is played in Drop A tuning. If you have a seven string guitar then that will make it easier to play.
While I don’t know what exact stuff they’re using, you could pretty much nail this tone with a Peavey 5150 now known as the 6505. Not the plus but the regular 6505. You can also do it with a Mesa Mark IV, V or even a Dual Reftifier with a boost in front. But the 5150 is probably the most common among hardcore bands. Of course you also need the right guitar. Any ESP, Jackson or LTD on the cheap with either EMG 81 or high output SDs. You will never get the same sound without those tube amps. The Axefx II is the only substitute but it costs more than a 6505 and 4x12.
