It's a command of prophet Muhammad ( sal).

    you, leave it!” Soorah al-Hashr (59): 7

The explanation by Sabir Ally is most plausible and satisfactory. A good Muslim ought to be known by his Taqwa or level of God consciousness not beard alone. The angels in the grave would know that very well. I know many scoundrels under the guise of the beard. Keeping the beard is however highly recommended for the good Muslims

You need taqwa and tawakkul. You just don't want to look religious which is why you don't want to have a beard. You are ashamed to look like an actual muslim according to the ahadith. Just own up already

    1. No,it is not farz, please do not misguide people. Show hadith or verse from Quran where it says its farz or even wajib, not interpretations like Bible where Jesus God based on interpretations? If we only rely on interpretations, we end up like Christians.
    2. If one of main purpose of growing beard, according to hadith, "do opposite of what mushrikeen do", with same logic, if in today's society all mushrikeen grow beards, that means we need to do opposite, which is shave, isn't that fulfil the hadith?
In conclusion, it issunnah, bwcause prophet (SAW) did it, like he did many other things, but it is not sin if you don't do it, (prove me wrong with facts from hadith and quran not some explanations. )
    Thank you.

  • @Uno.Numero

If it's not a commandment by Allah in Quran it's not Compulsory (Farz) then it is not Haram (Forbidden) to do the opposite. So, it's a individual choice to sport a beard as an honor, but if an individual chooses not to then no harm done as it is not made compulsory by Allah through his Commandments in the Quran.
I think we should focus on Quran instead of Hadiths, otherwise we stand to drift away into the same confusions and conflictions as our Christian Counterparts have done so in the past.
Let no Book Except Quran Guide Thee.
