The word "faggot" also means a bundle of sticks, in the UK. It used to be a fairly common word.
How the word came to be used as a derogatory slur is a bit interesting.
There's actually a really great podcast that covers this topic called Lexiconvalley (episode 2 - A Bundle of Faggots). The basic answer though is that we aren't totally sure. The two main theories have already been listed here, the stake burning and association with women. The latter has more academic credence so I'll cover that. A bundle of sticks, called a faggot, was used to create a broom. Since brooms were mainly domestic tools they became associated with women. Eventually, it's thought, men began using the term to refer to their wives, much like how we say 'the old ball-and-chain'. It then, like many words for women (eg. Pussy or sissy) began being used as an insult towards men, especially those of an effeminate nature. Homosexual men were seen as the epitome of this and the insult came to directly reference them.
You have to realize that the older you get the less "effs" you have to give. I love that about them.
I dunno if anyone else has mentioned it but the speedos are an old man thing, a lot of gangsters from the 70s and 80s would spend a lot of time in spain(costa del sol, marbella, malaga) as thats where our drug flow came from at the time, there are a lot of british people who live in spain, mostly old people (side note: a lot voted for brexit which was fucked up and then when they found out they couldnt afford to live in spain because of brexit for really annoyed, the fucking idiots) and its a look from their youth

I've done a super deep dive into these guys for the last 3 days they are all I've watched. At first i didn't believe it was them but eventually started believing it was. I watched at least 100 reaction videos and everything they put out. I decided to really dig into what i could find and realized they are just actors. It felt like when you learn santa isn't real. I found bas real name and he's an actor who has an imbd page. He's been in some shorts and movies a couple years before starting rapping. He does play piani though. pete was a mail man for 30 years. Then i found an old archived casting call from sinduworld. They are the label behind pete and bas and snooker team, seeing snooker team made me think this was just an act. They wanted an actor in new york for a rap project. It says we will write , produce, and perform the rap you will be the face and celebrity and get paid a percentageof sales and concerts. This project was pete and murray the american version of pete and bas. It says we started this project in london in 2017 then it goes into the views, and outlets that covered them etc.. i watched concerts and the voices are not the same when you can hear them. Pete holds the mic so close you can't see him miming but lots of times he is not even rapping. Who ever writes and raps is super talented. Very disappointed. There is a older German documentary out there where they kind of rap a verse in the street for someone who wants a picture and the voices are no where what they sound like in the mike.

To be clear, in the UK "fag" is both a slur and a totally common synonym for cigarette, the use of the slur would be treated the same way as in the US. British people treat the two identical words as totally separate. As a kid my grandfather taught me a song that included the line "While there's a Lucifer to light your fag, smile boys that's the style" which sounds pretty gangster (a "Lucifer" in reference to the devil was slang for a lighter.)
I think the B- is a fair rating. It's very much kind of "pop" and lite bars. Nothing wrong with those types of songs, just not my cup of type.

Ever since I stumbled on your channel, I have been thinking you would appreciate a rap video by a friend of mine. He is a poet and made a rap video using in-game footage from when he played on a roleplay GTA5 server. The people in the video are real people playing characters and his character is an old man who snorts Viagra to get an edge to rob banks with his friends. We are big fans of The Northern Boys and Pete and Bas and I've shown him your videos too. If you are interested, the video is called 'Monty - My Pills', there is an extended and a short video, the extended just has a bit of banter at the start. He is not a musician and did the whole recording in his bedroom (with the help of a voice actor from the interwebs). He had no experience with making music so be gentle if you do react to it. I think it's pretty amazing and as a poet he is very good and funny. Not a lot of views on the video, but that's not why he made it. He loves rap music and has introduced me to a lot of funny British rap.
Appreciate the fun attitude of you two. It's nice to see people who also appreciate these old geezers. 💜

I think people should be able to say whatever word they want. It's the intent behind the word is what matters. I have gay and straight friends who use the other f word all the time with the American context and are not offended and if they are it's a good opportunity to create dialogue but I get it, tos violations could wreck ya.
