This game ACUALLY changed my life! I was a coldhearted and close minded little asshole of a teenager when my best friend talked to me in a playing this game. I know it sounds silly but this game tore me up and broke me down. Especially the ending, I never cried so hard in my entire life and was able to release a lot of built-up anger and hate that I had in my heart. It literally changed my worldview, I don’t know who I would be today without it!

FFX is top tier in basically every way a game can be.
The fish out of water style story is really well executed. It allows for you to learn about Spira with Tidus and it makes for some very strong world building.
The characters are so well defined. Everyone in the main cast has an arc and undergoes some satisfying character development.
The game looks incredible for such an old title. The cutscenes still hold up today imo. The music is universally beloved.
Customizing your character's sphere grids and equipment adds a personal touch to each individual playthrough and makes for a deep endgame experience.
Some may find the turn-based gameplay to be dated but I don't. The slower pace allowed the devs to put unique strategic challenges into FFX that you just don't see in their ATB style games.
FFX delivers high quality storytelling, world building, characters, aesthetics, character customization, and strategic gameplay. What more can you ask for!?
Thank you for sharing this compilation of your experience.

    • @modernorpheus
      @modernorpheus ปีที่แล้ว +2

Also, the way these characters were integrated into the combat system.
It's not just that each character has a set role to play in battle. Several other Final Fantasy games make specific characters stronger than others, or faster, or able to do ranged attacks. Unlike in the games where characters are interchangeable (especially with the job system), the player has to keep every character in mind and think about who they are in order to choose the best one for the situation.
But in FFX the characters also TALK during battle. They REACT to what's happening during a fight, INTERACT with each other and even provide COMMENTARY on what's going on. We're not just learning who they are in cutscenes, but also while we're grinding to build up to the next boss. It deepens the characters and makes them more meaningful for the player, which makes the ending even more devastating.

I just noticed Kimahri and Tidus mirror each other during the Seymour fights. Tidus rushes in to back up Kimahri, shouting "Hey, save some for us!" and once Seymour reappears we get "Save some for Kimahri!" from Kimahri. Cute!

An interesting thing some people may not puck up on when Yuna defeats each of her possessed Aeons is that the link between them is broken and it’s physically hurting her.
When that happens with a Final Aeon it kills the summoner because the link is also emotional.

The realization at HOME is one of my favorite moments in the entire game. Rikku says summoners shouldn't have to sacrifice themselves, but Isaaru responds, "But....that is our choice." Because he's right. No one was ever forced to fight Sin, they did so willingly (granted, under false pretenses, but still, they were choosing it themselves.)

The heartbreaking thing about the ending is that Tidus could only save Yuna at the cost of his own existence. He was so mad at her for choosing to sacrifice herself to save the world, but in the end he made the same decision. Yuna spent years preparing herself for her end, and accepted her fate long before the journey started. Titus literally had one day to reconcile with the fact that he wasn't even a real person. He was the dream of a faith who died long ago, and after they defeated sin, he would cease to be. He went through with it anyways.

There were many Games i played over the past 30 years, but until today no ending hit ne with such an impact like FFX. Back in these days it was always talk like „the previous Games were much better“ or „tidus is almost a Girl“ and stuff, but i really liked spira and its characterd. It was my First rpg and the gameplay was challenging for me, but then i finally won the last battle just to see everything getting lost that was built. These final moments are still hard to watch, feeling all the despair and sadness. The music breaks me everytime, can‘t keep my eyes dry watching and listening this. And yunas speech in Luca… well, after i lost my best friend, my sister and my father during the last 15 years it is pretty close to me. Never forget the people we lost and the dreams that faded. So strong
But to be honest, the Game made me cry before, at 32:00 when tidus is told that yuna has to die to defeat sin… that feeling, that you accompany the person you like to her own death… thats a sting

Just came here to watch you cry. It hits so hard. We can all relate to Tidus in someway unfortunately.

We all feel bad for Yuna but remember Titus gave his life and love and everything for her so he is the tragic character not Yuna

In the ending when Yuna is laying on top of the airship and the orb floats up out of her...its because a peice of her just died at that moment...at least that's always been my theory 🤷‍♂️

Tidus isn't the weirdo. It was everyone as Square who brought him to life.

I hope you FF X2 next. There are some silly moments but overall the story is pretty good. and the finale is worth the journey. Plus you get to see best girl Yuna again which is never a bad thing

FFX-2 is the complete character assassination of Yuna. In my mind, X-2 does not exist.

      @@guruthosamarthruin4459 Respectfully, I disagree.
The way I see it, FFX Yuna is shaped by the expectations and responsibility of being a summoner destined to fight Sin. She was not able to live the free life she wanted because she had the fate of the world in her hands and oaths to fulfill. She was so tied down by her duties as a summoner that her whole purpose and infact much of her true self was lost in the mission and she was never fully free. Only Tidus was able to make her feel free and open her timid heart, daring her to dream of what could be.
In FFX2, Yuna is no longer weighed down by the oath of a Summoner and is able to create a life/story for herself. She's a young woman looking for liberation from the life that had kept her held back from who she really wanted to be. She is searching for her own place in a world without Sin, daring to dream of a better tomorrow thanks to Tidus. Then trying to protect the world from a weapon that threatens to destroy the peace and "Calm" that she fought so hard to achieve. On top of this, she longs for the love she never got to have. Her heart belongs to Tidus and after everything they went through she wishes to share the new world with the only man that ever truly made her feel free. So her journey is one of Reinvention, Self-Healing, and the search for the man who made her feel like anything was possible, and opened her heart.
Yes, there's fan service, yes there's cringe moments, yes we could say Yuna is a strong independent woman that "don't need no man".. but Yuna loves Tidus and after all she went through in FFX I think X2 is a beautiful story that leads her to the happy ending she always deserved. In the end FFX2 was all about what Yuna chooses rather than FFX where most of her story was wrapped around what was expected of her.
Anyways I'm not saying I'm right. I just wanted to express my view on it. This is just my observation and opinion :)

@@granddaddyotaku636 well said my friend, while certain things in X-2 does make me raise a question or two. Overall I think it's a great continuation. Her summoner outfit will always be my favorite though 😍
