New album 'MEDICINE BUNDLE" available now! geo.music.appl...
Getting creative with some flute loops, raps, turntablism and some fancy war dancing.
    Cinematography - Samuel Jerome Jay
I was interviewed today. I told the guy “I never was too much of an activist type artist. But the more I traveled and performed I realized the system pushes a different narrative for native people in this country and growing up on the Rez were constantly being assimilated. So I felt as an indigenous artist it became a responsibility to at least share some truths that I knew, even though I wasn’t a historian or highly educated on certain topics. Nor do I have certain rights that come from our Apsaálooke culture. Im not obligated to teach anything or share holy things on the internet. Some things are better left within our own communities and families. So what you see here is very contemporary, the dance, the musical infusion. I’m always learning and unlearning things everyday. If you carry any wisdom that has been handed down directly from your family, your clans, your tribes. You carry a legacy that is priceless. Every breath you take is in defiance to a system that wanted you gone! You are a blessing to the world! They say we’re not all feathers, drums and flutes. Sometimes we’re hip hop artists, lawyers, doctors, or teachers in regular clothes. Sometimes we’re both! What do I know. 🔥🔥🔥 new album MEDICINE BUNDLE out now!!
You can get the song here.

    Lyrics
Peace to all my people around the world, across the block/
(Apsáalooke language) "My name is "Good Fortune on Mother Earth"
reporting live from the universe/ it's the First Nations emcee/
you could do the search/who's been through the worse/surviving genocide/fighting for a better life/they try to set aside/the true history/and keep us mystical/ they say they founded this country on biblical principals?/ It's so cynical/but I'm an analyst/ it's murderous/they refer to us as merciless/ indian savages/ now that's written in the declaration of independence, that's no kidding/hey/open up your heart and let love lead the way/light your path with the words that I speak today/let the lessons flow/arrive and bless ya soul/systemic racism/alive, intentional/ know better do better is the motto/ it's that good medicine, a hard pill to swallow

I saw that, but he didn't say if your not black/ POC..he said "white ppl are guests". Which is true since it started with our black culture Hip-Hop/Rap in the South Bronx. Supaman, is not white, so that statement wouldn't applied too him. It's a known fact that for centuries white America has "Whitewash" history and hijack some things from other cultures to say they started or had something too do with it when years ago I remember "White America" hated Hip Hop/Rap music and tried too ban it. Now, every other White ppl wants too rap, now commercials embracing rap, like GTFOH.

@MonyMony Mony ask him, not me. i would guess that when using his own forms of communication he was ignored and his need to be heard outweighed his need to stick to traditional first nations music. the main point was that his culture is NOT black culture, his ancestors never sold his people into slavery (nomatter how much anyone wants to pretend white people "invented" slavery). as far as "stolen history".. that just doesnt even make sense, nobody is unaware of slavery. its still happening in many countries (none of which are led by white people i may add) to this day. the native americans had their country INVADED, they essentially lost a war they never even really fought (because we simply manipulated them for the most part) and have sort of lived in exile ever since (reservations). nobodys great great grandfather is to blame for them being sold, they just got steam rolled. mind you they werent natives to this country either, they crossed the bering straight to get here and then went even further south. so they are technically closer to asians than they are to blacks.

It blew my mind open. What I saw was a garden carefully created by my ancestors. The lime-stone was no longer just a stone, but the work of millions of life before me. My feet were no longer walking on soil, they were walking on history - a history I was a part of. The connection I felt was mindblowing and gave me peace of mind. It features this beautiful native american dancer, Acosia M Red Elk, dancing in her traditional dress that makes music. She danced with such perfection. I had to learn more about her dance and that dress. The dress is called a jingle dress, it is covered in 100s of pieces of metal and each piece represents a different prayer. The pow wow is a spiritual ceremony where prayers are sung and danced to the creator for healing of the people. The rain dance is a prayer dance. I admit my ignorance that I did not know about the residential schools until about a decade ago. The atrocities committed against indigenous people are too many to name. It was bad enough that the residential schools took children from their families but what was worse is the fact that they were trying to erase an entire culture. I live in South Florida and they taught us about the genocide and Holocaust against the Jewish people but they never taught us about the genocide committed against indigenous people.

It's called to my heart since I was young, sadly we have no real culture to be proud of or pass down here, just baseball and chewing gum and no strings attached sex. Supaman is a Montana treasure because he has given his tradition new life. And I love your comment, but want to clarify - there has been deep soul searching among native people. They were forcibly converted to Christianity & it was ILLEGAL for them to practice their own traditions. The children were stolen & raised in boarding schools where even their real names were forbidden. Every effort was made to stomp out their language & culture, even when that meant death and poverty (their pre-invasion lifestyle was healthy and balanced, but forbidden). The women were sterilized well into the 70s, children were adopted out to be raised white. The AIM movement of the 70s helped turn things around culturally, and now, here we are, in the next movement, please do everything you can to support this cultural reclamation. This is an exciting time, and so much is at stake.
