Foot care was literally the one topic I was about to request! (Had a newbie to Pointe tell me recently she thinks/decided now she's on Pointe doesn't have to trim/cut her toenails anymore, the edges "just break off" omg she showed me big toe w a giant near vertical shard broken off. Bet she hasn't told her teacher... teen brain yikes. yes, I flipped out. ) More on proper regular foot care please! Love these episodes, truly excellent. An Elder Dancer
Thank you for this clear breakdown of the Freed Maples 🍁 - I’m a Freed Classic Pro (Fish Maker - love my maker 🐟) but I’ve always been curious about the Maples & have never really gotten a clear answer from anyone regarding what they are: where they come from (I was like Canada?) : I always believed they were a new model altogether...this was super interesting & super helpful. (I also adore the second skin squares!) Life savers! Sending my love to you both! Thanks again! ☮️❤️😊💫
I’m not a ballet dancer (I am a dancer and rhythmic gymnast) but I’ve been friends with many ballet dancers over the years so I’ve developed a basic understanding. I respect your knowledge so much!! I’ve heard so many horror stories of people not knowing what they’re doing. It’s so good to see someone who really knows what they’re doing and dedicates a lot of their time and effort into this. Sending my love ❤️
Best glue in the world for this is cyanoacrylate glue. It’s a super glue like jet glue and jet glue is a cyanoacrylate but you can get different viscosity’s thin like jet glue, medium and thick. Thick is amazing because you know where it’s going. Medium I find is the best because the water like thin (jet glue watery) you can not control easily. Plus cyanoacrylate is more flexible imo.
Blisters and caluses are actually ok. Quite often they provide some protection for the skin and it's sort of the lesser of two evils. Generally you'd rather have a supportive shoe that gives you blisters than an ill-fitting one that can cause more serious injury. If your daughter is of age and the instructor is saying she can handle it, it will probably be ok but make sure you get a good shoe!
Do ballerina not shave their calluses down? In Crossfit handcare we learn keep them under controlto not build up to thick calluses, because then they will rip and that ain't pretty. I also really can't imagine dancing on that, ballerina's are so though!
No we don’t because calluses are a sort of protection from the pain if we get rid of them all that years of training building those up are gone and it will hirt
Katya Dubravin we also don’t remove our calluses, but maintaining them and ensuring that there is a seamless transition from skin to callus does prevent them from ripping. But each sport their own ways I guess

Love the anbesol trick😂
This is the earliest I've ever been wow
I tried the Studio shoes once and they were too bulky for me. I prefer the Classic, much lighter and softer.

I have it, also! Got mine at Target!
Shipper thanks! I’ll keep an eye out for it!
Thank you.
Do you guys ever make it over to the Midwest for fittings?

Come to Long Island
Hi
It’s funny that dancers are basically taught how to work through the pain, whereas singers are the opposite.
