Pleading guilty to breaking a man's eye socket in a previous case and this doesn't count towards the judge's sentencing?

It will be interesting to see what the sentence will be given that he previously pleaded guilty to an assault and was given the benefit of the probation act without a conviction ( but then re-offended ) and on the day basically done a flit saying he was going to get the money but never came back. curious why a bench warrant wasn't issued on his failure to return to court regardless of his ability to raise the money.

Can't help thinking an unprovoked assault should always result in a custodial sentence.

For the common "man of straw" a custodial sentence would no doubt be imposed.
The fact that Connolly was a high profile sports star helped him with a get out of jail free card.

You know if these players are 'role models' to young people wouldn't it make more sense to enact harsher sentences on them? Because they've soiled their reputation as a role model to young people?
I think the 'role model' philosophy is dubious though, and often others put that title on players rather than themselves setting themselves up as one. So it wouldn't be fair, but neither is this precedent of leniency, it's an insult to the average person, 'you're lesser' is what it screams.
For people outside of the GAA cult this stuff is infuriating. Was just talking to two school friends who are obsessed with GAA "aYe bUt hE's a GrEaT pLaYeR tHoUgH"
How deep the maggots have burrowed and how long and how well have they dined.

The courts seem to think that unprovoked attacks on the public by these thugs, is OK! Every consideration given to the offenders. It's a disgrace

I think Mr. Connolly celebrated just a little too much on New Years Eve, and maybe should be ordered to take an Anger Management Course on top of those two1,000 Euro fines to those men.

Maybe we can get Connolly to fight Jake Paul it will help relieve his aggression and there would be a nice sum of money for him no matter who won the fight
