I wet tumble range pickups and walnut tumble by fired brass. I also corncob tumble my finished loaded rounds for an extra shine. Add your polish then run your tumbler for about 20min to let the polish mix in before adding your brass. dryer sheets also help with the dust. I run my tumbler without the lid and I don't get any dust.

Hey Leon! for sure, ill try some dryer sheets, a few have suggested that!

Hey EagleReloads when I used to dry tumble to polish, I used corn cob. Then add the polish of choice to the media by itself and run that for 45 minutes to get the polish evenly distributed. Then throw in the brass for 45 minutes or more depending upon how shiny you want them. It works good on those stubborn pieces of brown brass, but you have to run it a while. Good stuff ER, Merry Christmas!

Hey GGW, thanks man, so far, it appears that time is the bigger factor over adding polish? I ran a load of DIRTY Grendel brass for 2 hours and its definitely state fair worthy.

    Hint.
    To reduce dust:
    Add used, cut-up dryer sheets.
Add 1-2 oz of Denatured Mineral Spirits

The "extra" threaded rod could be there if you want to use a basket on top (something that looks like one would use for panning gold. Used to shake the media out of the brass)
I typically use spaghetti straining basket (held over a storage tote, dumping the tumbler contents into the strainer) and a storage tote. After loose media is shaken from brass and collected in the tote, tote is emptied into the tumbler.

Looks like a nice tumbler should last a long time if you are only going to run it for 45 minutes at a time. I burnt my rcbs up after 5 years but I do run it for 12 hrs at a time LoL.

I use lizzard bedding from the pet store . It is cheaper and a finer grade of walnut . An hour with some metal polish makes them shine .

next time, ill run lizzard nuts! haha thanks JP

If the lead dust bothers you . You can use dryer sheets to help cut down on the dust . Also change your media often. I usually change mine after 700 pieces of brass regardless of size.

I saw someone using dryer sheets, I dont think we use those as a family but ill try some!

@@EagleRun23 wouldn't hurt if it keeps down the lead dust .

I always used fitze brass polish. I got a wet tumbler a while back and now I use my dry tumbler to powdercoat my cast bullets. You’ve got to plan ahead better with a wet tumbler to make sure you give cases time to dry. Planning ahead hasn’t always been my strong suit

ya part of the reason i chose dry, seemed easier to get started.

the top bearing wil seize due to grit invasion, but the bottom bearing might survive. I got 3 and worked them like red headed stepchildren about ten years ago, and I mainly used walnut from pet store. So, I think it's a weak design, planned obsolescence. I'd remove primers to get those pockets.

hard to tell if the brass got shiny because of the polish as the samples were 35 mins and the 2nd were 35 + 40 mins total time in the tumbler which would make them shine more. But it is a nice smalle tumbler.

Valid point. So far I can tell the longer the better. 2 hours you can win a ribbon at the state fair.

I like my tumbler the same as I like vajaja, brand new clean and wet. Not dry, dusty, with bits of crap in the flash hole.
    But hey, do you.
