  • This is quite possibly the cows’ favorite day of the year: Turnout Day! We have a new arrival and use the calf catcher to get him tagged and safely moved to the new pasture. Thanks for watching, eat beef, and God bless!

    Awesome video, beautiful new calf! I’m putting my next video out today as well. We had our first registered Hereford bull born on the farm!

    This 74 yr young Nashville Great Grandmother liked, subbed, and has binge watched your bodacious channel since finding it a couple of weeks ago! You are responsible for piled up dishes, mounded up laundry, and any household chores that keep me from "just one more video"! I was born in 1950 on a 450 acre farm in Waco, Tennessee ~ a little town in Lynnville, Tennessee that's between Pulaski and Columbia. You are bringing back so many wonderful memories for me and I am proud of the way you bodaciously represent our Tennessee farmers! Thank you Sir! Few questions if you will. On some channels I have seen farmers use "cake" when trying to move animals from one place or another or to supplement protein. Do you ever use cake? Bear with me ~ I'm only through about 10 vids. So far, I havent seen you have the need to assist in a difficult delivery using chains or that huge "calf pulling thingy contraption". The chains amaze me ~ remember I'm from the time my Father went out with expertise, brute strength, and a TUB OF LARD to get the calf out. I'm just wondering if you choose not to film the difficult deliveries for some reasons. Love watching the 2 awesome kids you are blessed with. You and your wife are giving your kiddos a fantastic life most families can only dream of. I would love to see more of your pretty wife. I thoroughly enjoyed the episode where she "spotted" for you doing the chores while you went hunting. Don't let that pretty face and gorgeous figure fool you ~ she's strong and proficient at her job (even IF she might run over a thing or two (No animals were harmed during that video! Lol.). Again, you make Tennessee proud! Your hard work, smart farming, integrity, family values and faith are inspiring. And that wry sense of humor of yours is contagious and make watching fun and your rants keep things interesting! Well, gotta finish this vid while I create a good reason to chore procrastinate and watch another. ✨✨God bless you, your operation, and your precious family✨✨. ~💛Your #1 Geriatric Granny Tennessee Fan! 😁Eat beef and God Bless😁

    You should have bought the calf catcher that goes on your side by side

      I’ve studied those before, but I really like how heavy this one is built. Fortunately, we only need one for those few cows that get belligerent. If we were going to use one to tag every single calf, the sxs version may be better.

      No, one Brangus bull was home grown and the other was purchased 2 years ago. The angus bull with our heifers was purchased almost a year ago.

    Hello. I happened to come across your channel as it popped up on my feed on TH-cam. I'm curious: What did you feed the steers?

    • @HurricaneCreekFarms
      @HurricaneCreekFarms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The feeder steers that are in the barn are being finished on a corn, soybean meal, and high protein pelleted ration. They eat that for the last 100 or so days before they go to the processor.

    Hello i was curious do u ever have issues with them eating that much corn

    • @HurricaneCreekFarms
      @HurricaneCreekFarms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes, you definitely will if you start them off on a full ration or if you just increase the ration too fast. We start really slow and work them up to roughly 2% of their body weight daily.

    Question if you sell thirty cows . 32.000 a year. ???

    • @HurricaneCreekFarms
      @HurricaneCreekFarms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not sure what you’re asking. We sell quite a few every year. Most of them as calves through feeder cattle auctions. A few cull cows sold through those same auctions. A few replacement heifers some years, usually sold private treaty. Then, a few fat steers sold direct to consumers. Prices vary quite a bit from year to year (sometimes even month to month!) and also lots of variance between classes of cattle.
