      I'm sorry I love the F-5 series of air craft, but the announcer was so hyper and technically wrong on so many levels it was impossible to listen to him ramble on. >_< So I watch it with the sound muted. O_o

      Some one please inform the Airshow announcer that the four Marine Aircraft are F-5N Tiger-II, and not the earlier version F-5A freedom Fighters. also the Skoshi-Tigers were a specially modified F-5C variant model used in Vietnam by the Air-Force who then turned them over too the South Vietnamese Air-Force.

    LOVE watching F-5E's in flight. Was a Crewchief with the USAF 65th Aggressor Sq., 57th FWW, Nellis AFB back in the mid 80's, and spent many hours maintaining those little sleek planes. Glad to see they still have a home in the USMC.

    Great video, but, the announcer got four things wrong during this demo: #1 - The Official Name of the F-5E is Tiger-II, not Freedom Fighter, which is the name for the F-5A, and B models, only. #2- Skoshi Tiger is the USAF Codename for the F-5's Combat Evalutation, and it's associated with the C, and D models, only, and not the improved E, and F models. #3- The lead chopper is the "Yankee" Huey, and it's not the Cobra. And, finally, #4- The second chopper is, in fact, the Cobra, specifically it's the "Zulu" Cobra. I'm just so fed up with airshow announcers, who get all of their info, wrong.

      @Locutus494 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah, he's not that great of an announcer I always thought. You're still a little off regarding the Cobra though. The AH-1Z's official name is actually "Viper"; the Cobra name has no official standing for that variant at all. It is of course still commonly referred to as Cobra unofficially. The same goes for the UH-1Y; the name Huey has no official status for ANY H-1 variant. The closest is the UH-1N Twin Huey that the UH-1Y replaced. The UH-1Y's official name is "Venom".

      Señores: creo que en 2019 en los Estados Unidos se debería haber selebrado los 60 años de la familia T-38 / F-5 . Hubiera sido el mejor homenaje a tan importantes aviones , para la historia de la aviación militar. El T-38 el Cohete Blanco fue y todavía es el entrenador avanzado supersónico que formó tatas generaciones de pilotos de caza . El F-5 A , B , y la versión E un excelente caza usado con éxito en los países miembros de la O.T.A.N y también en muchos países más por todo occidente y aún en servicio . En el vídeo se ven los asignados al la práctica del combate disímil . Considero que de todas formas estos destacados cazas ya se han ganado un lugar muy importante en la historia de la aviación . 0:33 Those are not Freedom Fighters, Those are Tiger II. The Freedom Fighter is an F-5A/B. The Iiger II are F-5E/F. The Skoshi Tigers were indeed the F-5A Freedpm Fighters that were used in the Vietnam War. The ones in the video started to be delivered in 1972, after the Vietnam War. The F-5E Tiger II is an evolucion of the Freedom Fighter, looks similar, but there are important differences in size, engines, air intakes, thrust to weight ratio, "RADAR", etc. The Tiger II was a much better arcraft.

    I’m pretty sure an F-5 would absolutely wreck both choppers at one time. That high, the choppers would catch a missile, but any lower they’d get boomed and zoomed by the 2 20mm cannons. I mean its exactly what MiG-17s did in Vietnam. Come by at 500-550 kts, cannons blazing and then go straight vertical and come by again. This would be extenuated by the F-5s ability to go supersonic. I mean they’d be booming and really zooming

    • @dragsys
      @dragsys 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the USAF and the US Army did a war game series called J-CATCH in the late 70's, Army Helo's vs Air Force jets. The Air Force got trounced 5 - 1.

    • @blakebaker830
      @blakebaker830 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dragsys well of course they did, it was an exercise designed to test tactics for helicopters, so I'm sure the jets were told exactly how to attack to see what would happen. No way they told an F-15 pilot to "go kill the chopper, any way you choose". This sounds a lot like the F-22 getting bested by the Rafale in training while leaving out the detail that the Rafale was allowed to start on the Raptors six and already in visual range. An F-15 coming in at just below the speed of sound armed with literally any air to air missile it can carry (Sidewinder, Sparrow, AMRAAM, etc.) with those avionics, the whirlybird has a snowball's chance in hell of even knowing which direction it came from. Wouldn't have time, looking for a way out of a burning brick.
