Berger your an inspiration and I have to say a brave man setting aircrete blocks up at a precarious slant with only a little cement! I was thinking a 40 foot dome but chickened out thinking about the scaffolding being 18 foot high! Greatest job i’v seen lately!

Clayton, I would not suggest to anyone to build a dome much larger than about 30 ft in diameter. I have exchanged emails and seen pictures with a gentleman who has built a 50-foot aircrete dome in the Midwest. He has expressed to me that its construction was an absolute nightmare. His blocks were 12 in thick, and extremely heavy. Lofting them 20-plus feet in the air was a real challenge. In the end, it is much more economical to build two domes 28 ft in diameter. The math does something really cool when it comes to domes relative to square footage of floor space, in relation to cubic footage of interior volume. Let me explain it this way, a 40-foot Dome would give you 2400 square feet of floor space. A pair of side-by-side 28-foot domes would also give you 2400 square feet of interior floor space. But the pair of 28-foot domes would have less interior volume than the single Dome of 40 ft. That gives you flexibility and advantages. For example, less interior volume to heat and cool but you still get the same square footage. Also you can align to smaller domes side-by-side to take advantage of geography. Or Orient the two domes in an East-West line to take advantage of the northern facing sunlight for solar thermal heating. Not to mention that a pair of 28-foot domes could be constructed out of blocks 6 in thick. Where the 40 foot Dome would require 12 in thick blocks. When you do the math to figure out surface area, it comes out as exactly the same. The pair of 28-foot domes has the exact same external surface area as a single 40 foot Dome. Hope some of this is helpful. Also, would be very interested in seeing what you have built up to this point. Thanks :-)

Another great update. I enjoyed seeing this portion of the dome build. Probably one of the trickiest parts of the dome build.
    Thanks for the update

Awesome and inspiring...its neat how small domes appear from the outside yet how spacious and expansive they are when you step inside. Thanks again for taking us along on your journey. Love it!

This is by far my favorite build on TH-cam right now. Always looking forward to new updates. Don't be afraid to use the cell phone, other than not being able to put a soundtrack to it it's actually a fantastic video. Thanks for the update and looking forward to the next one.

Have you thought about the dirt floor when it rains? Could you make a aircrete path way leading to the dome, out house and the show. It will be kind of miserable having your feet all dirty when using the bathroom..I also bring up the topic because I want to see how well Earth Creek does on the floor uses tile bricks.

    Hi Jon,
Just ran into your channel here.
    Great build!
Been interested in DomeGaia aircrete homes for a while now.
Any plans for a new build? Would like to join you as an extra pair of hands? Let me know.

Hello Spicer, Yes, we are now back in the USA saving up money for the next phase. Add a smaller dome for Kitchen/Utility room. Add others for bedrooms and bath. Sure would love the extra help. This was a tough challenge for just husband and wife. Smaller domes should be much easier.

Great video. It's going up really fast now. Just a quick question do you get any rising damp from the ground and if so how will you prevent it?

You could paint concentric blue stripes around the top! Beep boop beep. It looks great!
Is the balancing at the top taking lots more time?
