I grew up right by here. I'd pass it on my way to school and church. When I was a kid, I was terrified at the sight of it at night. As an adult I find Glenn Dale hospital so beautiful, especially in the snow and in the fall. I love driving past it on my way to my parents' house. It's my favorite little part about growing up here.
Anyone planning to go in the near future be aware that there is a motion detector camera on a tree facing the entrance to the morgue! You don't see it until it's too late. I entered through another door and while I was on the second floor, above the morgue, looking outside a window I saw the camera on the tree! Damn! I was going to use that entrance but decided not to. Just chalk it up to a "gut" feeling. Remember this also. If you set it off the police will not go inside looking for you! They wait outside until you come out. Then they bust you! Be careful, quiet, use stealth and don't "assume" there aren't any police there. Also, if you see or hear other explores avoid them! You have no idea who they are and if they get busted don't think for a second they won't rat on you!

Im all for the love of animals but animals can find their own way out. Animals are smart. They actually probably live there for shelter from the elements and just go out to catch food. Abandoned places are reclaimed by nature including animals.

Dan, Thank you for this one. I used to live in Bowie and we'd go to Glendale on weekends and visit the children who lived there. Often people will tell stories of psychotic murderers and really misrepresent the place, but it was a hospital for children with special needs, at least when I was visiting there. Thank you again.
Some of the interiors remind me of the Beelitz-Heilstatten tuberculosis hospital in Eastern Germany. If you happen to be in or around Berlin, it is definitely worth it to pay a visit to this sanatorium. It truly is one of the most beautiful urbex locations imo.

My uncle's father was in Glen Dale for TB....when it closed they brought him home to pass away......the tunnels were creeeeeeepy as hell, of course, we went in back before it looked like this (90's) Have you checked out The Rosewood Center in Owings Mills, Maryland?
I found this video to very well done and the music is a great addition. I spent a night in the buildings in the back where the crematorium is located. No ghosts although a racoon scared the crap out of me!

Looking past the ruin and decay, you can still see what a well-built place this was, with plenty of available light and that covered porch on the roof, for exercise---not that I'd fancy spending most of my life there! As usual, you found some obscure music that seems to fit perfectly.
Since I subbed about a month ago, I've been watching all of your older videos, Dan, and I have to say, this is my favorite so far. The music is perfect as well as the location. The only thing missing was you directing a steadycam operator to slowly glide through one of those hallways.
I forgot to visit the old mental hospital in Traverse City,MI last summer as was in town for a big festival.I did see the outside of the old mental hosp in Weston,W Va last week.

It's considered a protected historical site, so it should still be there. I've been twice so if you're going to go, go either really early in the morning or at night on a Sunday because they do have security there. It's really awesome so if you go have fun!

If you find any animals, help them out of the building, they most the time lost their way. or take them to shelters. Be kind to animals.
