Does anyone else think that the show kind of ignored the caligari spell too much? I think it should have had at least more discussion or impacts on zelda
I don't think it would have a bigger impact on her than it did. I felt like after it was lifted, she was able to tell truly that she hates his believes. Before that I didn't really see her owning up to her opinion as much. I felt like she was more playing the quiet mouse game for power and after the spell she voiced that she really doesn't believe in the same things that he does. But it's possible I'm over interpreting it....
@@lauragantz6876 he put her nder influence of a spell where she can't say or do what se pleases. That includes saying yes or no; Consent. We all know what happens when two people are married: wedding night. They make 'love'. Though because Zelda couldn't give consent (regardless of how long she's known Faustus or if she really wanted it, if you can't give consent it's r4pe.) he s3xu4lly ass4ulted her. That is already very traumatic. Who knows what else he's done to her...
I've never felt like Zelda truly loved him. I just didn't see it. She even told Helda herself that she's marrying him for power. I feel like all they felt is lust and attraction. I much prefer her ship with Lilith or her relationship with Madam Marie. I feel like both of those are more on equal ground and emotionally more involved. Ps: contrary to the fact that I don't like Zelda with Blackwood I really loved your edit.
Well, yeah, maybe she didn’t. I guess it’s all how we want to see it. I personally kinda love the story behind that in some way she was deeply into him but never wanted to show it. I mean, the way she reacted about the imagination of him cheating on her also in the season 1 she was truly excited every time she talked to him or when he actually payed attention to her. In my head she kinda was afraid to admit it even to herself but she cared. Love and hate are strong and close feelings, she could feel both and trying to fight it. Especially when she really realized that his real shade is not how she wanted to see him in the beginning.
@@RedQueenBellatrix I think it was more of an obsession rather then 'love'. She wanted power, status. He had that so he had value. She wanted to feel valued too so she wanted to get with him in any way possible and even get on the same page when it comes to status. It also explains why she enjoyed being with him. She was obsessed with him because he was The high priest.
