Gino is a superb artist, and as he has matured, so has his music. He's been my #1 artist for over 30 years. You can't help but love him, his passion, his music. He's just so talented, I hope he continues to be a part of our musical world forever.
Without the room to grow, an artist get stale. This is a beautiful rendition. Gino SINGS, he's ever present, and challenges us. I like that very much. It's about the performance, not the recording. Sure, it's not what everyone expected and that's okay. But that's the magic I look for during a live performance. Stevie Wonder toured with a live orchestra, Miles Davis used to get mad because he felt jazz was getting stale and everyone expected the same ole thing. Don't get me wrong I still cherish my recordings and the first time I heard these songs.

Obrigada pelo retorno ao meu comentário!!!! É muito bom saber que existem vários fãs de Gino Vannelli, este cantor incrível!!! Somos pessoas de bom gosto!!! Me diga de onde vc é!
Even though I have watched this clip dozens of times, I still get chills and am so moved. It's truly one of the most beautiful vocal performances I have ever heard.

I absolutely love the original but this one is incredible and it's like he's speaking one on one with us,if I was in this live concert I would be awash with tears
Very amazing indeed, this arrangement takes you on a new adventure yet still holding close the sentimental essence of the original. Well done Gino and cast!
This is wonderful; I love the more modern Gino with GOOD digital audio; and that voice is just as incredible as ever. I hope Gino is making music for a long time to come.
Magnificent! particularly with the Samba interjections from 'Where Am I going?' -very ingenious musically. Gino goes from strength to strength musically as he matures. One of music's greats.
No way is this 'overdone'! Wonderful, multi dimensional and the arrangement's full of drama and colour and I love the samba groove quotes from 'Where am I going'. I WISH this was available on DVD!

Gino Vannelli is one of my all-time favourite vocalists !! Having said that, this arrangement is interesting.. I enjoy BOTH sections but I would have liked to have heard Gino participate in the second section.. I have never heard Gino scat but he is so musical, I can't help but think he would be amazing... as it is.. he IS anyway ;-)
well im glad im not the only one who seems to fell that way also..i remember zepplin when they played around with their song arrangements LIVE..it was brave ..honest..cool..but they werent heartfelt love songs like "living inside myself.."..thanks im glad to hear how you feel about the song being trampled on by ginos sit in band....as the old saying goes..."""sometimes ..less is more""

@watusi1971 I think it's brilliant. The way I see it, is that the up-beat latin part is a reference to his vibrant more energetic younger years, then sadly, when it slows back down, reality sets in and he is faced once again with his regrets. Hope this gives you a new appreciation.
I am digging this...I will love this man forever for making all of the beautiful music he has made! Mojotwang is right about about Gine maybe scatting a bit. But ir is still beautiful!
He just did what only great musicians do... took a chance to work "outside the box". I Am Hispanic therefore I like the new arrangement, with a Latin beat to it, but it might just not be for all brains out there... It's a matter of musical culture and taste. I was in the US Navy (off Charleston SC) when this LP came out. I bought the cassette and played on my "Boom Box" all over Europe during our Med cruises. One of my favored at the time... and still is! Thank you for the posting. Hope to see more of him posted soon ;)
mucho adorno Ensucia la musica... estoy deacuerdo, pero hay que respetar los "limites" de los demas. Por alguna razon el "Rock" se hizo tan popular en el mundo entero.
Nestor Salazar I was in Mexico City my tennage years I reflected myself in That song one of my own world all happy sad and confused and loving Gino vannelly..!!
I must admit when I first read your comment I thought, "he's just being picky" but I as I heard it I get where you are coming from. The song is a soft ballad and should have been left as such. I am still into the original
I absolutely love this arrangement! It's powerful and it soars, showing perfectly the multifaceted talent of Gino. Some have called this arrangement "butcherism" and "bi-polar". Ah, but everybody likes to be a critic. But those very people have never been really in love (and out). Those that have, will recognize that this rendition portrays exactly what it feels like. If the feeling in this song doesn't grab you by the horns, the you are indeed a sad case my friend.
All you folks that have criticised this version are forgetting an important point. You have the sublime original version for ever, but everyone grows musically, not least Gino himself. If the orchestra had played a 'standard' version they might have missed out on the new perspectives that this chart offers. Quite obviously Gino has moved more towards jazz since 1980, so perhaps its only natural that there would be some jazz influences here that reflect his approach. This is a neat alternative
Greetings meatpole55. Truly i agree with you but i have to say TheOperaMagna has a point too. i appreciate you so much "cause you know quite well you're history sir. Let us stay chill & let our heroes explore their beautiful creation on their own terms & turfs. Of course, our vinyls will keep us stay in tune in the true essence of beauty of music in the time we prefer. Drop the Fxxx word sir. That ain't you. GOO bless you Mp55 & T O M.
Do you want. ME to relate to this, because I do. ♥️This keeps showing up in my feed, what am I supposed to think? Tell me, be honest, it’s your life, but it’s mine too.

@TheAcarch2 OK... I'm glad you can feel it and maybe I have to listen to it in a couple of months to see if I feel differently about it. At the moment it doesn't ring a bell. Thanks for your comment...
That was... incredible. Is this full concert on CD, DVD? I must have it! This is almost perfect, just beautiful vocal performance, power and delicate and music matched his interpretation.
EXACTLY!! What the HELL did he do to this, my favorite song of his??? I realize he wrote it, but I think he should have left it the way fans remember [and want it] to remain! But he sure does still have the pipes, no?
I can understand it I guess since it's at a jazz festival, but the transitions didn't work to me. Gino's voice is exemplary as always, and the symphonic addition is nice with the slower tempo, but the upbeat jazz broke the mood.
@calferath ........im so glad to see some one feels like i do ..you just dont take away from perfection..all these hay wire arrangements make me sick ..its like he was serious while his brother keyboard player was in the band ,,then after the split up he just plays with the idea that his songs sound like they did in the past..these arrangements take away from the meaning and feeling of the song and other songs ive heard him rearrange..gino i got to hand it to you..you would make a great Butcher
I agree with you 'salluvsya". The beginning with the piano was impressive. I never tough this great song could get any better, but the crazy-instrument-mix ruin it.
I was captivated by his voice, as always, then, what the heck happened? That horrible intrusion of jazz music! It ruined the song . His voice is heavenly and that's what I wanted to hear; not all that craziness. Sorry if I'm alone here, but Gino, I love your voice just by itself!
I don't get the latin thing... was it a show off? Other then this the arrangement is OK... The bass solo would have sounded better with a fretless bass though...
I love this song but do not like this arrangement , it's a ballad and it should be played like that and on the slow parts it's just beautiful. I can hardly stand the quick jazz part's, this should have been played at the end because it looses it's essence, but love the end! just my opinion
Gino Vannelli is a "god given treasure" God must love us a lot to let us hear his vocal masterpiece!
Amazing vocalists!!! His control of his voice is unbelievable!
Amazing man.... He was already 50 years old here! Gorgeous inside and out. This song still moves me in 2020 as it did in 1981...
Nightwalker! What a song! 1980-81. What great memories of my youth! Gino is a legend. Musical legacy that will never die. Gino is the best!
Phenomenal arrangement and performance... Just wow... 🤩
Otmaro Ruiz, one of the most talented musicians from Venezuela, is playing the piano. Fantastic!!! Wonderful music and video. Thanks for sharing!
my God, this man is one of the most incredible vocalists of our era
One of Canada's best. No one can replace Gino Vanelli in Canada. Love you Gino.
Gino is a superb artist, and as he has matured, so has his music. He's been my #1 artist for over 30 years. You can't help but love him, his passion, his music. He's just so talented, I hope he continues to be a part of our musical world forever.

Magnificent!. Gino's amazing singing and song plus the beautiful arrangement and sound of the Metropole...Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You ste absolutely correct! The full orchestra adds majesty and depth to this song.
*are
The absolute BEST rendition of this great song.
You people are insane. This was brilliant!!!!!!!!!
Just brings me to tears and the intensity of love...THAT IS REAL. You can feel it with him. Such a gifted singer and arranger.
Oh my God-Gino Vanelli has the most wonderful voice even to this day-followed him since 76-just an amazing performer
This song take me back to the early 80's it brings back so many good memories of my young days. I could relate to this song soooo much.
So expressive. The music. Glad I'm stiil alive to enjoy this.
EXCELLENT!! Wish I was there to immerse myself in this genius' music. Excellent orchestra and rendition!!

So easy getting inside this song. ♥️
I absolutely love the original but this one is incredible and it's like he's speaking one on one with us,if I was in this live concert I would be awash with tears
what an artist and true innovator
WOW love this arrange with the orchestra.. and his voice is great !!
Oh Lord You Smiled on this Man!
Such an Artist, Dynamic, Memorable!
The best music
Very amazing indeed, this arrangement takes you on a new adventure yet still holding close the sentimental essence of the original. Well done Gino and cast!

Just love it! Wish I could have been there to hear it live! The man is incredible!
¡Estupenda adaptación del súper clásico de G. Vannelli!
Stupendous adaptation for this G. Vannelli's super classic!
Magnificent! particularly with the Samba interjections from 'Where Am I going?' -very ingenious musically.
Gino goes from strength to strength musically as he matures. One of music's greats.
This is REALLY cool, I love to see music evolve and he sounds like perfection.
Magnificent rendition. Sometimes a mix with a jazzy flair creates an "off beat" sound with a full orchestra.
simply incredible
Beautiful!
i love the jazz, gino is amaizing, sad song, but i like very much.
No way is this 'overdone'! Wonderful, multi dimensional and the arrangement's full of drama and colour and I love the samba groove quotes from 'Where am I going'.
I WISH this was available on DVD!
Stunning!
Bravo, this is a masterpiece!
eu adoro pois soft rock

I relate to this song " Living inside Myself" and the song " Black Cars" more than all the songs Gino sings. He was so ahead of his time.
Gino Vannelli is proof with his ageless body and voice, that vampires exist.:)
Adorabile Gino vanelli love la voix

This is my boy right here!

Bestificada com esse arranjo !

Ma gino! vieni in Italia più spesso!!
Thank goodness this wasn't the original or we would have never heard of it.
Gino still got the chops!!

One of the best version of Living inside myself (in my opinion the almbum version is the best)
whoa! le kiff!
EXACTLY!! What the HELL did he do to this, my favorite song of his??? I realize he wrote it, but I think he should have left it the way fans remember [and want it] to remain! But he sure does still have the pipes, no?
yes, he's the man on piano.
parte 1
I can understand it I guess since it's at a jazz festival, but the transitions didn't work to me. Gino's voice is exemplary as always, and the symphonic addition is nice with the slower tempo, but the upbeat jazz broke the mood.
wow
Did anybody see the fly going in the mouth at the pianoplayer at 0:53?
that is the very point of gino"s music
Are elements of this arrangement the work of Russ Ferrante?
Is Otmaro Ruiz on piano?
Who did the arrangement? Russ Ferrante? Or Gino himself?
Horrible to BE removed as well! ;-)

Gino does a nice job and I like the changes, but he messed up his own lyrics mwahahaha I love ya G!
A well liked Gino Vannelli song, I made a tribute video to my all time favorite Storm at Sunup. Please check out my Jan 2013 upload.
Wow 2024
I don't get the latin thing... was it a show off? Other then this the arrangement is OK... The bass solo would have sounded better with a fretless bass though...

I've thought about that. The jazzy parts are an expression of the turmoil in his life, if you listen to the lyrics. I can enjoy it both ways.
Aleciaspicks I agree!
me too
