I went through the series today looking for a project for a bunch of fabric I call my Happy Fabric and Lori Holt backgrounds. Decided on this one as I already had a bunch of 1 1/2 inch and 2 1/2 inch squares cut. What fun I had sewing two patches and then four patches and the center squares! Made my own happy day! 😊🤩
Just got back from hospital and rehab. So happy to get to watch your videos. It helps me since I can’t quilt yet. I love the Irish chain quilt. I love it when you can take something simple like a 4-patch and easily make it look like a complicated quilt. Thanks a bunch for these sewing your stash series videos. I have learned something new every time and I love the different quilts that you come up with. Thanks a bunch!!
Excellent tutorials as always....i noticed a beautiful bag by your window, maybe a future tutorial on the bag...all that you do is greatly appreciated. I have amped up my skill level...thank you Lori and Cassy....also love the french manicure....
Your work is Amazing!! I love it and watching your videos!! I am cutting up my stash like you ha e yours.. it's so organized. It's taking me a while since I have a lot of fabric. Thank you so much for sharing... I cant wait til your videos come out each week. Happy quilting♥️❣💕💞
I am in LOVE ❤️ with this quilt! I started cutting and sewing these along with my current quilt! I love the idea of cutting the remnants into 1.5” squares or 2.5” squares to build my stash! I keep the stash next to my machine so I can sew the blocks in between! I’m a newbie to quilting but loving it! Thank you for showing the shortcuts to building stashes!
Love this block and I truly am enjoying this Sew Your Stash series. I’m thrilled to know it will continue!! Thanks so much for all the inspiration, Lori!!
As all these others that have commented, I, too, love the series! Especially the fabrics. Can't get one how pretty all your machines, lamps, muffin tins, etc are painted - so soft. Thank you for sharing and teaching/
Your machine is gorgeous. I would love a machine like that. And your pin cushion the old fashion truck, oh my goodness! It’s all great thank you for your video. I’m new to quilting.
As always, I loved this video! You provided me with a blast from the past. In the early days of the internet, some 20+ years ago, there was something called, I think, the World Wide Web of Quilting. It was really an early ancester of what Facebook became. They had a bulletin board feature and I think that is where I signed up for lots of charm square exchanges. They were loads of fun and super scrappy stash builders. It was so much fun to prep my assigned type and # of fabric squares, pack them into sandwich bags, along with a slip of paper w/ my name, city & state, and words of encouragement, and send them off to the swap organizer. The organizer would divvy all the bags and send us each a collection of all the other squares. It was so fun to receive mail and previously unseen fabrics from all over the US. I still grab from this stash and fondly remember the fun my then young son and I had sifting through the treasures and checking the map to see from whence they came.
Thank you for doing this series. I'm enjoying it very much. I love how you use the old trays and tins. It's a great idea. I think I may take my old muffin tins, paint them and put them to use.
So excited. Staring a new local sewing class tomorrow night and as I work on the chain sewing, I have my first batch of 1 1/2 inch squares and 2 1/2 squares ready to replace my leaders and Enders. 😁
Hi Lori! So glad to hear that your Sew Your Stash series will be continuing, I am learning so much from you. Really enjoying the process of organizing and using my scraps this way. Your videos are so well done, the blocks feel very doable, and your scrappy quilts are just beautiful. Also, wanted to let you know that I checked out the Larkrise to Candleford show you mentioned and just loved it! I was cheering out loud for ‘Miss’ Dorcas Lane at the end of the last episode, lol. 😍 Thank you for sharing your wonderful creative talents with us. 💐🌻
Watched going down the highway. Hubby was listening and was asking great questions. Thanks Lori! Great conversation starter and so fun to share my hobby. He likes your machine too! Asked what kind is that? When I told him he said...she must have had it painted, they were all black back then. Who knew he knew a thing about machines?!
Friday time with Lori is the best! I’ve got another month or so before our new house is finished. I can’t wait to work on some of these projects once we move in.
Thanks Lori for another great video. Love how you explain as your sewing your pieces. Your fabrics are amazing. I just purchased my first jelly roll and some yardage of your Flea Market . First time being able to find your fabric here where I live in Ontario. So you could imagine how excited I was. 💕
I have been quilting for a long time, but doing it all wrong! Now I just love watching you. Even though I still treasure the quills I've made already, I know that my next ones will be so much better. Than k you for being such a great teacher.
Good afternoon Lori, that material that has the alphabet on it in the Copperplate writing is how i was taught to write by my mum a lot of years ago. Copperplate is a beautiful text and makes for beautiful letters(that old fashioned thing called snail mail)lol. This is the first i've seen my style of writing in many years and it was such a surprise this morning to see it in fabric form. I think this Irish chain block is going to be so fresh and bright when finished flower and all made really from leftovers. I am not very good at waste, so this is what i call waste management, hee hee hee. Fabric is expensive and by using up the leftovers it makes for a new project discovery, over and above your original plan. Thank you Lori flower for sharing such a good way of using up and making our stash go further. Take care, from Norah , Glenochil Village, Scotland.
Hi Lori just wanted to say thank you so very much for continuing the stash series’s I love it .It is very much appreciated that you take your time up to show us all how to make these beautiful quilts .God bless and stay safe .
Hi-I have learned so much of how you use your double pins, trim-it-rulers and seams easy guide in this series. I immediately went to your Etsy page and have them ordered plus a few other items. I am watching your stash Series starting from Intro and am loving them. My bits and pieces will have a new life. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with me.
Now we all want to be just like you. I love your sewing notions and really love to watch you use your various tools and create with so much enthusiasm. Pam
I am really looking forward to more of your inspiration. I have some scrap bins that I am now going through and cutting into 7 thru 1 1/2 squares and strips to make quilts following your tutorials.
I am so enjoying this series Lori. I have referred so many people to different series numbers. A boss told me to always have an updated resume so I would be prepared if someone wanted to see it. That’s the way I feel about the future project sewing. Two birds, one stone while building resume’
I learned such a valuable tip watching this! Have a set of squares ready (for a future 4 or 9 patch) to use as leaders was such a great idea! I cringe now when I think back of How may single layer leaders I’ve thrown away over the years… lol. 🤦♀️ Thank you so much!
I do enjoy your scrap tutorials. I made a quilt using one of your scrappy stars tutorials. It waiting to go to the long arm quilter. My friend gave me a lot of her scraps. I’m a new quilter and she’s been quilting a long time. I think this would be another block for me to try.
Love your tutorials, learn alot only wish I had more time to sew more of your beautiful patterns. Especially loved the flea market flowers, I made a few quilts from that pattern. Thanks so much Elaine
Wow, your channel is so inspiring! Each time I watch your videos, I'm compelled to grab my cold glass of juice or coffee along with my writing pad and throw blanket so I can curl up and take notes. I have already started on two of my new pin cushions thanks to you. I am slow-going though on my quit blocks for now- a bit too many irons in the fire lol (so happy for all this new found inspiration), but I am jotting down notes and drawings for improving how I sew my applique blocks and utilize my sewing time. I feel as if you are reminding me and others how important sewing can be and has been to me all these years. Thanks again, Lori!
Thank you! I love the sew your stash series. I don't have a big stash but I am loving trying to make at least one block from each of the series. Love your video!
Your quilt is going to be gorgeous!!!I can never get enough of eyeing your fabric, your machine, the surroundings and of course your wonderful advice and directions!!!!
I loved the broken windows block....had to make one the next day. I can see this one in my near future as well. Thank you for these. They really have inspired me to work with my scraps!
Thank you ever so much Lori for this fabulous series!!! I'm always looking for easy ways to use my stash. You have convinced me to save squares rather than trying to make those small leftover pieces into half square triangles. I will be buying some of your cute cut rulers in the near future. I love your design boards ( have multiples) and super enjoy using them. Happy holidays and love to you and your family. xx Karen
Thanks for the council to square up the four patches. It does make a difference for the good.
I love this block and I am going to make it for my adult son with wild batiks and a black kona background in the 12 inch block. Thanks so much Lori
My husband now whistles along to the intro music!🤣
I went through the series today looking for a project for a bunch of fabric I call my Happy Fabric and Lori Holt backgrounds.
