daveodart Thanks Dave, much appreciated. Likewise with yours! Brilliant playing on those man. The Rock and Pop thing is a ton of fun isn’t it? Cheers Dave thanks again and keep on rockin’!
I already know how to play all the songs from Grade 5 and this is time when I’m ready for grade 5 exam! I’m looking forward to play this song! And nice video!
Hey, was just wondering, in exams, is it ok if for the second repeat if we slightly change fills or add bits into the price? Would we be marked down? Thanks, love your work, I’m about to do exams and you’ve really helped me feel confident I’m going to do well, thanks so much
Hi Chris, thanks so much for watching and for the kind words, really pleased these videos have been helpful for you. In this piece, the instruction is to vary the fills on repeat, but the groove parts a straight repeat. Cheers!
Aahan Jain Hi Aahan, thanks for watching and commenting. Yes very tricky section! All about contrasting the accented and unaccented notes, at speed! Will upload a video about developing this skill later today, stay tuned man! Mike 👊🏻
Hi mike do you have any advice for the fast bass drum kicks groove thing at 2:26 and 2:38? Or any video links? If not thanks anyway. It’s just a bit weird.
Maybe, I'm currently busy working through all the Buy Me a Coffee channel member requests - they're the people who get to choose what videos are made! But I do talk about the big snare-accent based middle section of this tune here: th-cam.com/video/6Io6DTbb7pM/w-d-xo.html
Hey Mike, great cover! What are your tips for developing the single strokes with accents at 174 bpm? That seems to be the biggest challenge for me in this piece
Hey man, lots of this drill! th-cam.com/video/WcQsytDUnBs/w-d-xo.html Also, lots of playing of patterns that feature accents in singles will help too... Bo Diddley Pattern th-cam.com/video/f-SOt-thWU4/w-d-xo.html Soukous th-cam.com/video/0I9YCHXiZJk/w-d-xo.html Single Stroke Samba th-cam.com/video/WKi9h7y5HDg/w-d-xo.html Go steady tempo as well as slow-fast-slow, and maximise the difference between the accented and unaccented notes. Cheers!
Amazing video, really helpful. Any tips on how to speed up that accented semiquaver pattern? I am able to play it at aroung 160bpm and just can't seem to speed it up even though I'm practicing it every day. Really frustrating playing along to the backing track and then always losing it at that part 🤣.
Hi Lavish, thanks for watching! I'm not sure I understand the question to be honest. If you're asking me which three songs you should play from Grade 6 - it's up to you man! Have fun and thanks for watching :)
Yeah am asking for grade 6 songs. Actually I don't have a book. Just as a startup am asking for new songs of grade 6 including one technical song. Could you help me?
Lavish Rohilla Best advice I can give you is pick up the book, all the material you need for your Grade 6 is in there. Also, I really feel the best way to get value out of studying the grades is to look at all the songs in your grade, rather than just three. Each song is in there for a reason, and has some cool skill or technique to learn from it. I really try to encourage my students to see the grades as a really cool, systematic way of building their musicianship skills rather than just an exam to pass. So again, my best advice would be to get the book, spend some time enjoying getting into all the tunes and developing all the associated skills - if you then want to do the exam, go for it and choose whichever songs three you like playing the best :) Thanks for watching and taking an interest, all the best man.
Thanks for another great video Mike. My hint to my son & daughter for Drum Kit 1&2 books, through your Amazon link, worked well. I had the books for Fathers Day Haha. Regards, Bob M. South Wales
I would count "One and-trip-let, two and, three." I other words, the 16th note triplet is three evenly spaced hits starting on the "and" of beat one and leading into beat two. Cheers!
Good job Mike but my brother also want to learn this song😅😅 Edit: His teacher ask my brother to play this song but he said is too hard but he change his mind too learn this song and he is Grade 4😅😅
