- "In the back of my head, or my heart I suppose, I thought I'd done something important" - James Dyson

As a child, Dyson recalls vacuums that never picked up debris very well. Years later when painting the Ballbarrow, he used a huge spray plant with a cloth screen. This method wasted a lot of powder, so he set about making a cyclone to catch it.
The combination of both ideas provided the catalyst for Dyson's most famous invention - one which he'd place a cyclone in the heart of a vacuum cleaner. He made over 5000 models, every day developing and failing in equal measure.

1000+ prototypes?! When intelligence meets persistence. These clips make my purchase so much more satisfying.
Congratulations, Mr. Dyson. Well done!
Just took delivery of my Small Ball Animal 2.
I was wondering if I made a mistake and should have got the V8 instead as it seems to have stronger suction by the stats. But I just did a first pass over my entire two bedroom apartment and it's a beauty. You can feel the thing hugging my short fibre carpet and it's pretty quiet too. A lot quieter than my two year old V6.
I would have liked it to have a metal tube apart from the plastic one but I guess they designed it pretty strong so doesn't matter.
It's a keeper.
Hi there, thanks for this great feedback. We're happy to hear you're pleased with your machines performance. Thank you for choosing Dyson. Have a lovely day, stay safe and take care.
@@dyson You are welcome.
James Dyson is not just a great designer and business leader, he's also an inspiration that Britain can still be great.
I think of him as our own, more down to earth Elon Musk :)
We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this fantastic feedback. Stay safe and take care.🙂
Legend.
Ah cool , i never knew it was a problem with coating the wheelbarrow frames , that led to the cyclone vacum. So if he never started the ball barrow , probably would have been no dyson vacum. The courage to go out on his own , the support of a wife , are indicators of sucess.
Yes ... do something better to make it smell like carrion from filters after several years of using your "maintenance-free" vacuum cleaners ... flakes of skin settle inside cyclones and are broken down by bacteria. Cyclones cannot be washed under water, so after a few years the blown air starts to smell hideously
😊
