What a surprise to find this great singer on TH-cam! I've been a fan of hers since I heard an ARTIA LP of hers in 1962. She was/is, perhaps, the greatest coloratura Mezzo ever.Thank you for posting this wonderful performance.
It was the first EVER performance of "La Cenerentola" in USSR and one of the first performances of this opera in the XX century. They had no such standards of performing it as we have now. I wonder how they even had found the score.
About time to learn of one the great singers of the 20th century, a precursor of those more recent coloratura mezzos, one of the first to record the Rossini roles. But she was much more, a great Marfa and an outstanding performer of songs, incl Tchaikovsky to Schumann.
Although she sings in Russian, I really really ADORE her rendition of this beautiful and playful aria, but I really don't understand why she doesn't sing the cabaletta and the tenor interrupts her!
An excellent understanding of the Rossini comedy and an outstanding high range for a mezzo. A flexible masterful voice that may someday be as good as Larmore, Kasarova or the great Bartoli.
Have you any idea if there is a justirication or explaination for the funny 'arrangement' made of the final part of this aria, she sounds to me like she was well able for the normal version of the aira. Beautiful voice, and as close to the Rossini style as anyone in the west in 1950.

Я по-русски..певица высокой культуры,очень узнаваема - характерный и очень красивый тембр.

Very good diction :)
SHe reminds me of a darker hued de los angeles voice. They both have that special bit of sunshine that they can bring to a piece.
Agreed.
I who tampered with the music here. This exceptional Cenerentola is simply not allowed to wear her crown jewels!
That's Soviet school for you! ;)
Spiacente, Bartoli é senza dubbio grandissima, ma le altre due non sono all'altezza della voce e della tecnica della sig.ra Dolukhanova.
@vhan2007 yes. you're right.
Unfortunately, Ms. Dolukhanova had passed away already. This performance is from the 1950s.
