    I'm situationally aware, but I dont stare constantly. I try to be confident in my abilities but still know my limitations. Like you said, success is not guaranteed. The easiest way to not be caught up in a bad situation is to avoid it/leave when your intuition tells you to.

      Right on, totally agree.. The old saying: "you win 100% of the fights you don't get into" comes to mind. Having an enforcer mentality almost guarantees that trouble will find you.

    Love the video! Here's my 3 things to keep you out of trouble;
    1. Be confident and know where you stand. Don't volunteer for a beating you didn't need to take.
    2. Mind your business!! Don't interject yourself into situations that you don't need to be involved in. N put your dang phones away!!
    3. De-escalte a situation, be prepared to walk away if the opportunity presents itself, or give that opportunity to someone else.
    Failing these 3, any situation can take a wrong tu. Thosese who wish to cause harm, usually aren't out there alone. Even if you don't see them at first, they're probably close. If you engage with someone, be prepared for others to help them, not you. People will not come to help you, just the way it is in the real world.

    Yes, I have definitely seen the Mall Cop mentality, I refer to it as the Barney Fife Syndrome (deputy from Mayberry TV). They are ready to blow up any situation so they can prove themselves. It is so much better to stay under the radar ready and aware of what's going on (and yes, take the seat facing the door). Blending in and being prepared. The best defense is usually to high tail it out of the area as soon as something 'feels' dicey.

    While the campus I work three days a week is considered safe, it still pays to keep one's head on a swivel and look around especially when going to the underground parking. One teacher was assaulted a while back because the student did not like the grade he received. No firearms allowed on campus regardless. Comes down to being the gray man and get to the safety of the vehicle asap and out of Dodge. Your presentation is one that we should review periodically, so as not to become complacent and forget how dangerous the environment we function can be, and how to carry ourselves.

    Excellent video with important subject matter. I felt you when said "I draw a lot of attention with the way I look and carry myself". I have experienced this myself to the point that I once thought I was becoming paranoid. But it's just true and I stopped worrying about it. To counter it I express kindness by holding doors open, using good manners, and waving/nodding/making friendly small talk when appropriate, among other things that are totally situational.
    Ya know I don't want to be as heavily armed/prepared/whatever as I am but I have to. I have 2 little boys and a beautiful woman who absolutely need me to provide and guide them through this world of the wicked. With that said, situational awareness is a multi faceted concept where avoidance of trouble when possible is king. Ego is not our amigo. Be a light in the darkness.
    Looking forward to your next video about this insane shit where, like always, you offer a sane perspective. Take care!

    I'm 62, long silver hair, two 1/4 cart earrings in my left ear. I wear a T-shirt sometimes, most of the time I wear polo shirt. I wear a stainless steel G SHOCK watch or my Gravitymaster G SHOCK. I drive a 2023 Mustang GT, six speed manual transmission, Iconic Silver with Drag 34 black wheels with machined lip. Now, I live in rural Texas. Pickups, 4X4s, cowboys and Hee Haw. The reason I say all of this is, cops. The person you described, I have seen in cops here in my area. LOL "I got a badge and I have a gun." "I'M THE LAW!" Yeah, I have been witness. I have pulled out of convenience store and had cops follow me all the way home! I know they were running my tags. I have earrings to mark the two times I avoided dying. Won't go into that, just leave it like that.
    Yeah, living in rural Texas I know the persona you are referring to. I watch, I pay attention when I get out of my car. I'm 62 and I have never felt like I needed gun up until now. I keep my Glocks at home. I carry a knife with me at all times. Carried one since I was 8 in Oak Cliff. I try to just avoid groups of people. I try to avoid people who give off the "bad vibe" persona. I try to avoid cops too. I have never been arrested. Some of the sheriff's deputies know me here. Lived here since I was 14. That said, there are some new ones now with a name to establish.
    I went from driving a Corolla, to Camry and now Mustang GT. The Mustang really garners the "LOOK" if you would. LOL I know it is the fact of being a Mustang GT, V8 dual exhaust, the same reason why I bought it, the same reason it garners the "LOOK" from everyone. My foot on the accelerator does not help. LOL I love the sound of the duals. I have gotten used to the "LOOK". Funny thing, the 4X4s have louder exhaust than I do. LOL

      Very important. That happens in nature as well. Predators and threats of different kinds in different environments. It also comes down to understanding what price is being paid by living in certain areas, instead of moving for example. This is specially important for life that is outside such as anywhere open, park, beach, etc. As opposed to your own home or where you work. As an example, on the beach if you swim you won't be carrying any weapon with you... Think about that for women specially (no pepper spray, no anything on them)

  • @sergiotisnado545
    @sergiotisnado545 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Insightful observations. I have limited tolerance for those who project superiority. Do be aware such people NEED the recognition because something is lacking. Some of them are so wrapped up in confronting bad guys (which, granted, is necessary at the present hour) that they won't know what to do with themselves in times of peace. They should give this some thought. Also, for us who are people of faith, we must ask God to watch over us day to day in this regard (Psalm 91), believing He will quicken us to danger and otherwise protect us.. Nonetheless, be aware and be prepared to the extent you feel is appropriate for your particular situation (even Jesus and His disciples carried swords), but be aware also of the principle that he who lives by the sword will die by the sword. If you are a hammer, everything tends to look like a nail, so if you secretly need violence, you will find it, but it might not turn out the way you assumed. Violence is at times absolutely necessary, but we should never long for it or enjoy it. So...I agree, balance is the key, like so many other things in life.

    Mindset comment. You accurately described self defense personalities. Most human communication is non verbal and it helps to understand it. Then, you have to practice reading the non verbal communications.
    You had the incident at the gasoline station. You read the guy's body language. The flip side is that some one else is going to be reading your body language and probably unconsciously.
    The other extreme example is also understandable. A human does not feel danger until the source of danger is within 20 feet. General Baden-Powell, founder of the boy scouts, observed during the Boer War that trained scouts could read non-verbal language. It wasn't a matter of heredity or innate skills. It was learned behavior of reading non verbal signs. A US Army study prior to 1968 confirmed that soldiers who had attained the rank of Eagle Scout had few combat injuries and deaths in Vietnam.
    My car was locked in by another car in underground parking at a store. The parking attendant did not have the keys to the blocking car and never saw the driver. I looked at the car and the available non verbal signs and concluded I would be looking for a white man in his 60s who stood at least 6'2" tall and weighed 240 pounds. I went upstairs, looking only at shoes and walked right up to him. I was trained to do that.

      That is an incredible knife. I’m a huge fan of the strong arm. One thing you could do is go to Gerber directly. Amazon also has a lot of the true copies. The prodigy should cost around 75 and up.

    I feel like a lot of the extreme sides of this topic for those of us somewhere in the middle is friends and family. I find if I have 3 larger male friends or family around it luls me into a false sense of security and an inflation of my ego should a verbal altercation get started for example. On the flipside, if it's my wife and our two daughters, then I might be a bit overcompensating and too fearful/focused around people in public.

    CCW classes are filled with super-tactical lookin' dudes in black t-shirts, 511 pants and Magpul baseball hats.
    It's a cult with a dress code.
    My Marvin-the-Martian t-shirt and choice not to cover my boomer bald head with the required gun-stuff advertisement hat didn't meet the standard.
    I'm not cool enough to hang with those guys. Cults are weird.

    Thanks for the video.
    I've never exactly run into someone that I saw as that guy. Maybe I tend to dismiss those people.
    I know one guy in the local Republican party who is a bit more conspicuous than he needs to be with his carry sometimes, but he doesn't seem all that aware of anyone except himself. I've heard other people talk about him doing this kind of stuff, but people either really like him or see him as something of a joke.
    Years ago, I remember hearing noises from a parking lot and walking over to find a water playground. I stood there for a moment just looking at all the cool things that someone had built. I then became aware of some guy staring at me. Nothing about him suggested that he was really into preparation. He just seemed to be someone who looked at me and immediately hated me. I stood there for about three or four minutes longer than I otherwise would just to irritate him for being so stupid. However, I wasn't going to waste any more of my time just to irritate an idiot.
