The Ministry of Lands is to blame for allowing citizens to build anywhere without proper permits or inspections. The MOL cannot blame the “engineers” who don’t have regulations

The government should implement policies to band substandard building materials like iron rods imported into in the country.
What the ministry of housing and country planning is doing? The minister needs to be very robust in order to endure houses are not built in certain areas in Freetown and it environs.
Before building permits are issues the plans and drawings submitted must meet all the building regulations including site inspections. Site inspectors should be assigned to specific areas and are required to give report of the structure at major stages of completion until the final stages and a certificate issued ensuring that all work complies with regulations and the building is now fit for occupancy. We have to start now. The cost of the planning application is a percent of the cost of the building
This country is not structured at all, not that they don't see what the people are going but either the owner of the house have someone in the party or he has money to pay them to let him do that kind of structure.

By the look of things if you check, no engineer was involved in that project and in my mind, if you check they must have had over ten masoners (not even contractors) must have had a go at different phases of the project. It is possible for every floor there may be more than two builders at different points in time. I blame the ministry of lands, works, housing, energy. I think the national disaster management should champion this course and form a committee comprising all the stakeholders. Get a digitised mapping of the country, get youths patrolling the country and check for building permits of ongoing construction works.. Institute laws henceforth that before you start a building you must first submit a planning application together with a detailed plans and specifications of the proposed building.
That's why you as the honourable of parliament should be the eye of the government to make sure people do the right thing...don't blame others
My deep condolences to the people who lost their lives. GoSL, this is another foreseeable and preventable horror incident. This building was in plain sight showing signs of a potential fatal disaster. It is frustrating to see government officials posing for videos at a disaster site. This building was in plain sight. Proactive measures like government inspection before, during, and after a building construction is completed could have prevented this disaster and future disasters.
