Happy birthday Ford. Over the 9 years I have been having b'day party for my kids. My biggest tip is for the cake make cupcakes. There super easy and the right size for little hands and mouths. There are also really fun to deteriorate.
Enlist friends for help! My two year old's birthday party is this weekend, and it's fiesta themed. My friend is bringing over her kids tomorrow so she can help. The kids will keep each other entertained in the playroom while we make paper flowers. You can buy those pre-made, but I can't really justify the cost because they're so easy and cheap to make with tissue paper from Dollar Tree. On that note, Dollar Tree can be a great resource for cheap party supplies! WalMart also has a section of napkins, plates, etc in lots of fun colors for around $1. And bubbles are always a win for party favors! What kid doesn't love bubbles?!

Ordered pizza, made a bagged salad kit and a veggie tray, washed some grapes, and bought a cake from the grocery store. All of her party decorations were from the dollar store! The only thing we really splurged on was an $8 pinata and some candy (that will double as Halloween candy). It was the easiest, most stress free party she's had since we went all Pinterest-y for her first 2.

What we do it put a slip of paper under a red cup for each one, and put something like a treat on top! It works out great for our family!

I think that the dinosaur balloon didn't work because there were no instructions and the tape that they used was matte and they should of used clear (shiny) tape.
Save yourself money and time don't do favor or goodie bags! Kids will play with the items for like 5 minutes and then the parents just throw away all the items. You should not have to give a child a gift for coming to your party. I fell the food and entertainment you provide should be enough.
I know I am not a mother yet I like to watch it before I have any kids and I am not married or a husband or boyfriend it helps me in the future and I remember on my 1st birthday I had family relatives to come , got presents and a big bird cake that my mum / Marie made for me
I like the way you didn't plan a lot of complicated games and activities; you just had everyone swim and play in the pool (or just mingle and socialize with each other and have snacks) until it was time for cake. That's a good approach for a party where there'll be people of all different ages and abilities. That's another thing; since you planned the party in the afternoon, it wasn't at a typical mealtime, so people didn't expect a meal.
