spoilers. they ruined the franchise with this. even if you ignore the graphic novels, you have avp where the queen has been frozen for thousands of years. yet in with covenant david engineered the aliens way later. if you did them as stand alone films not tied to aliens it would've been better. but i to would like to hear more about the engineers.
Ridley Scott: Hey guys, what are you doing? Peter Jackson and George Lucas: We are making prequels to our masterpieces. Wanna join? Ridley Scott: Sure, what could possibly go wrong?
The scene where the newborn organic alien fetus uses it's newborn skull to bash through a bulletproof glass window & that stupid trinky dink saying " wanna lend a girl a hand ? " with that stupid smile on her face after she just about got catapulted through space made me cringe so hard. Fuck movies these days are fucking retarded ... I'll just stop watching new movies & live in the 70's & 80's.
I think Ridley Scott does care what you want John. I think Fox forced Scott to change the movie to include the Xenomorph since that was the big disappoint from Prometheus. The biggest mistake Ridley Scott and Fox did was say Prometheus was a prequel to Alien.
Scott should have just made a movie called "Crazed Robot". There was no need to attach Alien stuff to it. Scott is clearly out of his mind (Fox should have fired him after Prometheus)
Spinning Demon actually he didn't. The real person behind Alien was Dan O'Bannon. He co-wrote it with Ron Shuset. Dan also was the one that introduced Scott to H.R. Gigers art work. He also made Scott watch Horror films so that he knew what he expected for the story because Scott was/is not a fan of horror films. Scott is a good visual director, but that's it. He gets WAY too much credit for Alien.
If Ridley Scott had his way, the Alien would have bitten Ripley's head off at the end and then speaking in Ripley's voice, used the radio to contact Earth. Thankfully the producers said no. The guy has some truly bad ideas but is a great visual director.
All I want to see is the Engineers drive their space cars and hangout at the Space Chili's

Rather than a mix between Alien and Aliens, as some people are saying, this movie is more like a mix between PROMETHEUS and SNAKES ON A PLANE. We agree 100% with you, all the Fassbender stuff in the movie was fascinating, but the xenomorph scenes were pretty fucking bland (and with terrible CGI). Looking forward to the next one, let's hope they bring back the engineers! We also have our review of the movie in our channel if you want to check it out (it's in Spanish though)! Great review, keep it up!
It would be so SOOO easy to make an epic sequel here - simply do everything that Prometheus 1 and 2 did NOT do - you know, give characters brains, answer questions instead of asking them, explore engineers instead of obliterating their civilisation, avoid cheap scares, don't show us a one-by-one slaughter fest for a millionth time, etc. Easy peasy. Oh, and no post-abortion marathons and climbing. You MAY do a post-abortion walk in the park, that's fair enough, but not climbing. Plus zombies. Skip zombies. It's not Walking fucking Dead. There you go. Now where's my fucking money, Denny?!
oh boi do androids r a lot stronger & more agile than human... i luv the way david force shutdown walter. dat move's so sick n the way walter's inanimate body kneeling down is just pity
It seems like a lot of people say his name that way. It's like they are thinking of saying one way in their heads, but then change their mind mid-statement. Sort of like Leonard's "Hi-Low" greeting with Dr. Plimpton.
I have to admit, 100% with on the whole "Did we get answers? yes, was it what I wanted? no." however, I will say I am intrigued very heavily to where it is going.
I'm an engineer, and no-one understands what I do in this "post-industrialist world" so I'm not surprised that all people want is an infinite amount of xenomorphs chest-bursting out of xenomorphs in one long xenomorphic chain stretching off into an eternity longer than the myth of prometheus.
Am sure ppl may have already pointed it out to you, but at about 0:20 into the video, I legit thought the animation was about to say "The Flick Dick" .. and I was like whaaaaaaaaaaaa... oh .. "The Flick Pick!" .. LOL.
would it not be cool if guardians of the galaxy show up to save the crew but only "Walter" survives and then a xenomorph somehow gets on the guardians ship and when guardians land on pandora it's this amazing James Cameron alien battle
I left the theater disappointed. It was a Prometheus sequel that had an alien mini movie during the last 15 minutes. I think Ridley Scott really wanted to make a straight Prometheus sequel, but then when he heard about Neill Blomkamp's cool idea for an Alien sequel he panicked and thought I better put in an alien sequence for the last 15 minutes. I would have rather seen Neill Blomkamp's movie. Why can we not get an awesome alien movie again?
Lol all the other TH-cam reviewers are posting their Wonder Woman reviews and this guy just now posted a review of a movie that's two weeks old. Good job man!
I feel the Xenomorph was handled the exact same way the T-800 was handled at the end of Terminator Salvation. Boss enemy shows up in the final 20 minutes to provide some very fan servicey action sequence to close out the movie, without really having any impact on anything else.
The whole concept of an alien race depositing ingredients on our planet to start life has been done to death. Frankly, from a theological stand-point, I think it's a huge cop out. (Not every species can start that way.) It feels as though Scott got critical and studio pressure to change direction with Alien Covenant. In any case, it works. He's finally giving us what we want without completely abandoning the vision he was originally toying with. Finally, an intelligent prequel.
I like where you'd take the story. personally I'd have a group on engineers find the wreckage and aftermath on their home world and set out to get revenge on David.
David's constant philosophical monologues took me out of the film every time, especially ""Blow into a horse's nostrils, and it is dedicated to you for life." I would remember this one later in the movie and chuckle Oh, and characters were so dumb, how do you not wear a suit while landing on an unknown planet??
Nathan Ueberroth actually in the original film when he looked into the egg they did have helmets and space suits on the Facehugger just somehow ate through the face shield
There was no "Xenomorph" in his movie. The creature was a relative to the original Alien creature. It's obvisouly different. A "Protomorph", or an early version of the eventual Xeno that we all know.
Nope. A protomorph was the black thing bursting out of the Engineer at the very end of Prometheus. The black xeno in Covenant's third act indeed was a xenomorph.
The black Aliens in Covenant are Xenomorphs, dumbasses. The end credits where they name the actors who played as the Aliens say "Neomorph/Xenomorph". Ridley Scott calls the Aliens "Xenomorphs", even NECA calls the black Aliens in Covenant "Xenomorphs". There's no such thing as a Protomorph, that's just a stupid term fans made up.
I just want to know the answer as to why the Engineers were normal and chiseled from stone while their people back on their home planet looked like they just crawled down from the bell tower.
Thanks for the review even though it's late. I haven't seen it so I don't mind the late review. Your idea for a sequel sounds cool. When the humans team up with the Engineers I think through the course of dialogue it can be used to understand them a bit better. Also, it can be a creative way to show off some Engineer weaponry against the Xenomorphs and display some cool actions sequences.
I like what you want to see happen, but here is what I'd like to see happen. David IS the OG Space Jockey and that's why the original Alien looks bio and tech combined.
Besides the last 20 minutes, I loved the movie. I thought it carried over the themes from Prometheus very well, and Michael Fassbender was great. The last segment felt pretty tacked on. Overall a 7.5/10
"I thought it carried over the themes from Prometheus very well" - What? you mean like how it killed off Shaw before the movie had even started and also killed off all the engineers so that we can never find out why they created us and why they changed their minds.
Every other TH-camr movie reviewer: "The Embargo has lifted for Wonder Women time to review it !" Then there's John who reviews Alien Covenant 😂 but anyways you're pitch for the next Alien film sounds great, the humans can finally ask the Engineers why they created us while kicking Xenomorph ass side by side.
I agree with you about the Engineers and wanting more answers from Prometheus. When they show David wipe out the Engineers I was so confused and wanted to know why!! But it was such a great film and had me just uncomfortable and on the edge of my seat most of the time. I want a dedicated Prometheus sequel!!
I wanted more engineers too, but i liked what i got. I like your review because you were not really being nit-picky like most others. Those giving criticisms were over things that were so subtle and meaningless. It's a very good movie overall
For the people that think this movie is a sequel to prometheus.. You're wrong. Alien Awakening is the sequel to prometheus. The story line will be more fleshed out in the third movie (second in the time line.) Covenant was made first to judge audiences interest in the franchise. There Most likely won't be "xenomorphs" in Awakening, but more of the story of the engineers.
Tommy BBQ Then maybe you should stop going to see the new movies and giving them your money. If they keep getting money for these shitty movies they're gonna keep making them.
Tommy, I completely agree. Aliens was awesome, suspenseful and intense. Alien Covenant was boring as heck. The excitement didn't happen until the last half hour. Very few of the characters were memorable, which is why Flickster couldn't remember Walter's name. I give Alien Covenant an F for being a slow-moving, dull mess.
I somewhat enjoyed it (despite some stupid actions by the main characters, like not wearing helmets etc) until David appeared and they gave us the explanation about what happened with Elizabeth Shaw, and the engineers and how the Aliens were created. The idea of (SPOILERS!!!) David creating them is totally ruining the mythology for me and when you really think about it, doesn't make sense at all. Where is the Alien Queen? As to the last 20 minutes, i couldn't enjoy it at all, first of all because of the CGI Xenomorph that is shown WAY too much, and it looks fake as hell, besides the fact that they had him on monitors and could track his location at any time totally killed the suspense and tension for me. 5/10
Actually they refer to the Aliens as Xenomorphs for the first time in Aliens (1986). In the scene when the captain is explaining to the team of marines whats the mission is about, right after they awoke from cryosleep.
I saw ALIEN Covenant the day it came out, and it was decent. not great. I was expecting a little bit more from it, but i got some good answers to some questions ive been wondering about since ALIEN. I personally give it about a 6/10
I agree I was way more interested in Prometheus, the concept and a possible real sequel about Elisabeth and the Engineers than in making it all about aliens. Seems I´ve been proved right since critics have not liked this more than Prometheus and this new one is doing way worse at the box office.

theFLICKpick hi nice to be here.
theFLICKpick when will you do another Q&A?
theFLICKpick Great review as always, John. But for me, it's my third favourite Alien movie behind Alien and Aliens
theFLICKpick John do you have shirts with:"Don't Get Scared Now" in your shop, if not I would rock dat shit
spoilers. they ruined the franchise with this. even if you ignore the graphic novels, you have avp where the queen has been frozen for thousands of years. yet in with covenant david engineered the aliens way later. if you did them as stand alone films not tied to aliens it would've been better. but i to would like to hear more about the engineers.
Ridley Scott: Hey guys, what are you doing?
Peter Jackson and George Lucas: We are making prequels to our masterpieces. Wanna join?
Ridley Scott: Sure, what could possibly go wrong?
Stanislav Kraus But Lucas didn't direct The Empire Strikes Back
or Return of the Jedi!
Miss X I know, but still Star wars is his brainchild
bernhardtsen74 well, Return of the Jedi is kinda meh...
The scene where the newborn organic alien fetus uses it's newborn skull to bash through a bulletproof glass window & that stupid trinky dink saying " wanna lend a girl a hand ? hahaha tambien estan aqui? no sabia que viesen youtubers americanos
por supuesto, vemos siempre a los mejores. Este tío es el puto amo!
Agreed. I was hugely disappointed by the fact that we got zero info on the engineers. Ridley took in the wrong direction.
Some of those answers are in the deleted scenes in TH-cam, Last Supper and Prologue crossing.
I already forgot this movie existed
That means u can enjoy watching it again lol
making him watch again would be a violation of the Geneva convention against Torture....

Thanks john!
Finally who also likes this movie. Somehow, everyone is so busy to hate it, that basically you forget how well it is crafted.
The visuals are great, but nothing else is well crafted.
Heycfrom England, Brilliant review John you summed up the movie brilliantly my friend.
love your channel & your reviews a witty & well presented.
Watching twizler aliens pop out of your chest was more entertaining than Prometheus.
Easy peasy. I really wanted more about the Engineers too!
John, lets fight on Popcorn Trivia!!! You made me play it and now I'm addicted! Thx man
I'm going to make a supercut of everytime John says badass.
"Im super sorry for the late review on..." absolutely everything, every time
His Pirates review was early.
"Driving in their cars. Eating at Chili's." Funniest thing I have heard all day.
finally someone Who also wanted Prometheus 2 :')
John. I think it's bout time someone told you. That was NOT a xenomorph at the end of Prometheus.
In what order should I watch the movies in ??
I love only 2 men and michael fassbender is both of them lol
oh boi do androids r a lot stronger & more agile than human... i luv the way david force shutdown walter. dat move's so sick n the way walter's inanimate body kneeling down is just pity
Are you scarlett Johanssons brother?
hit like if you also wanted to continue the journey with David and Shaw in this movie
I thought John was the engineer at the start of prometheus
I'm going to see it today....great review as always
I'm 100% with you, John. Wanted more Engineer stuff and questions answered. Shaw outcome sucked...needed to SEE it.
what is the far right poster on your wall?!
The Road Warrior!
where can I purchase that shirt please
about time someone feels what I feeled.. they just wanted to get rid of the engineers sorry part. I hated that.
how come you pronounce Fassbender the same as Chris.
Ghost5379 Fl-AH-ssbender
Ghost5379 because thats how its pronounced??
It seems like a lot of people say his name that way. It's like they are thinking of saying one way in their heads, but then change their mind mid-statement. Sort of like Leonard's "Hi-Low" greeting with Dr. Plimpton.
no its not, everyone says the Fass like ass not like Ross
thats what im saying
Dude great video, and at that point I totally forgot the other droids name too :D also gotta hand you this one preferred this review to Stuckmans ;)
I have to admit, 100% with on the whole "Did we get answers? yes, was it what I wanted? no." however, I will say I am intrigued very heavily to where it is going.
I really enjoyed the film
You tube unsubed me AGAIN from both of your channels. Don't worry! I love your reviews and will keep re subscribing as many times as I have to!
Can't wait for 3 weeks from now, when John's Wonder Woman review finally comes out. 🙃
the engineers from prometheus look like handsome squidward
Now I gotta see a skit of engineers eating at Chili's
I'm a simple man. I enjoyed this movie.
What was missing from Prometheus ? The xenomophs. What was missing from this movie? The engineers . Why can't we have both in the same movie ?
Hey man. Love the show. Where did you get that awesome shirt?
The movie ends on a high note? Personally I thought it was too predictable and mean-spirited.
Engineers? Naaah, we want aliens!
Aliens? Naaah, we want engineers!
Poor Ridley :)
I loved this movie.
Aaron Jones HOW
Let me guess, your first Alien movie was Prometheus
GoldyTrix cause opinions I guess
BirdsElopeWithTheSun nope, the original.
Thanks for the late review John! :)
people already reviewing wonder woman...
Yeah and they got to see it a week early...
He does have press privileges
sick video John, it made me want a twizzler Xenomorph to burst out of my chest
I agree: wanted to explore the engineer story more
Would to see an engineer Tarantino-ish scene at chili's haha
Ends on a high note?
Great Review 👍👍
Now eagerly waiting for your Wonder Woman Review
I'm an engineer, and no-one understands what I do in this "post-industrialist world" so I'm not surprised that all people want is an infinite amount of xenomorphs chest-bursting out of xenomorphs in one long xenomorphic chain stretching off into an eternity longer than the myth of prometheus.
Gotta bring back the engineers. Hoping they come back with a vengeance in the next one.
Am sure ppl may have already pointed it out to you, but at about 0:20 into the video, I legit thought the animation was about to say "The Flick Dick" .. and I was like whaaaaaaaaaaaa... oh .. "The Flick Pick!" .. LOL.

+TheSmashingTesticles Thanks for clearing this up. However, fuck you.
I just want to know the answer as to why the Engineers were normal and chiseled from stone while their people back on their home planet looked like they just crawled down from the bell tower.
Keep up the good work! You just saved me $20 on a Bluu Ray combo!
Thanks for the review even though it's late. I haven't seen it so I don't mind the late review. Your idea for a sequel sounds cool. Awesome video
I like what you want to see happen, but here is what I'd like to see happen.
David IS the OG Space Jockey and that's why the original Alien looks bio and tech combined.
You may place your cigarette paper on my flute.
John could colonize a planet by himself. Don't need stinkin 2 thousand that's for sure.
Great review, exactly how i felt about the movie too
this movie grabs the old alien's plotholes and open them wider.
Pretty sure that snake alien scene is like more than an hour into the movie but ok, I guess 20 minutes is the same thing :P
I wanted to see more engineers too...we've already seen six movies (AVP films included) with xenomorphs
Why does it feel like you uploaded this review already.
Great video! :) I agree though with some of the other commenters, need to do another collab with Chris Stuckman!
I'd like to see David take the Covenant back to Earth....oh wait, this is a prequel and that wouldn't make any sense, GOD DAMN IT!!!
Hi JOhn you're awesome!
I absolutely agree with your opinion.
Pretty fair rating, I too would also like to see more engineers
When will you team up with Chris Stuckmann again?
Flick is a decendant of the Engineer, the muscle definition is a dead give away.
Shhhh, don't tell anyone....
I want to see an Alien vs Engineer.
do a detailed video on prometheus and alien:covenant ..that would be cool ...like fan theories
I wanted more engineers too, but i liked what i got. I like your review because you were not really being nit-picky like most others.
Those giving criticisms were over things that were so subtle and meaningless. It's a very good movie overall
1:44 not a xenomorph; it's a new thing called a Decon
great new intro!
He's had that intro for months, where have you been?
I watch TH-cam videos as an overlap as I work. Listen to them, more specifically.
Engineers and humans teaming up isn't a bad idea at all! It sounds like it could work!
NO!!!! remember when humans teamed up with another alien race to fight against the xenomorphs?? cough cough AVP
how does chris stuckman get to see all of the early showings? @theflickpic
This movie really sucked the big one for me. Not since "Aliens" have I experienced a decent movie from the franchise.
Tommy BBQ same as me
Tommy BBQ Then maybe you should stop going to see the new movies and giving them your money. If they keep getting money for these shitty movies they're gonna keep making them.
Tommy, I completely agree. Aliens was awesome, suspenseful and intense. Alien Covenant was boring as heck. The excitement didn't happen until the last half hour. 5/10
I don't pay to watch movies at the theaters, none of your business how that is.
basically i learned from the film is that love kills and smart people have terrible flight or fight instincts
03:06 *correction it was a Neomorph
Did anyone in the actual movie refer to it as that or are we just going with fandom?
theFLICKpick no one refers to the xenomorphs as xenomorphs but we know that's what it is
Actually they refer to the Aliens as Xenomorphs for the first time in Aliens (1986). In the scene when the captain is explaining to the team of marines whats the mission is about, right after they awoke from cryosleep.
MrRoughGoose touche'
Alien Convenant: It was fine.
Fassbender is great again as David.
I want Danny Mcbride fighting alongside an Engineer against David and his xenomorphs
