Dear brother what he is chanting is in Tamil Language, he says Arutperum Jyothi means sacred light, and other word id thani perum karunai means high mercy of illumination, this is what he says. In Hinduism most sages meditate in caves and some of them prefer cold and high places.
At the peak level of meditation the sage ( and his body) became light and he will mix/connect with God permanently. (Meaning that he no longer needs to born again and he can't be killed by anything , he can live forever and appear wherever he wants ) by this process he technically became a God.
