How To Fit Roof Bars On Your Peugeot

- Roof bars can be difficult to fit onto your Peugeot, especially if you haven't done it before. Once fitted, they can provide you with lots extra luggage space. Here is a short video on how to fit roof bars onto your Peugeot.

Bad experience.
We have had these bars for just over 3 years and on returning from our summer camping trip last week, the locking clip mechanism which is made of a strong plastic connected to a metal clamp snapped off leaving the bar permanently locked onto the car. We did not want it to be permanently locked onto the car so it had to be pried off by a mechanic at our local Peugeot dealer where we bought our car. The clip/mount is now unusable.
When asking at the local Peugeot dealer if we could purchase a replacement clip/mount we were told that we could not, when asking to purchase a single bar we were also told we could not. We were only offered the option to buy two brand new bars at the cost of just under £160. For the sake of one small clip with a broken bit of plastic this seems like an extortionate price to pay, with the additional risk that this could easily happen again.
There are other roof bar providers that allow you to purchase parts of a roof bar system individually, feet / bars / mounts. We were disappointed with the customer service offered in this situation and did not want to buy brand new bars when we have two perfectly sound bars, with one small part not working through no fault of our own, after all I just went to open the latch as I have done before but this time the plastic snapped off.
So, unless you want to risk having the same thing happen, I would advise you stay clear of these bars and go for a mechanism that does not involve putting heavy pressure on a small piece of plastic. We certainly won't be making a trip to Peugeot any time soon, after all it would not be that hard for Peugeot to source these clips if they made any kind of effort to do so. It seems that they are just out to get as much money from you as they can.
Anyone know if this is suitable for panoramic rooftop model? Some comments regarding cracking the top... Thanks!

This one seems like first model of 3008 (09-16), which I own and mount procedure is same like described in video.

I just bought bars for my new Peugeot Rifter. Instructions are in ikea style language, but are not clear to me. They are different to the ones shown in this video. One direction shows turning the allen key by 4.5-6 Nm. I'm not sure what this means, but I have them finger-tight & will check them after 500km
RichXZ nm is Newton meters. It’s a measure of torque (how tight to tighten the bolts). Mechanics will have torque wrenches so they can tighten a bolt to the right amount - not too loose and not too tight. You can also get torque screwdrivers and other tools.
