I'll start off by thanking FOF for bringing Samson in. Like him or not, it's pertinent. Of course, loved the Guerrero anecdote. Lastly, I suppose I'm in the minority who miss The Statue in centerfield. I'll see it in September, I hope, for a final in-person view this season. I have Jeffrey Loria's audiobook ready for the drive down.
When I was working, I also did a version of the Dream Trade! I'd present a wild, what-if deal that was the impetus for great barnstorming sessions - very fruitful and helped to ingrain cultural creativity at our firm.
I knew the WBC was its own profit center for the Marlins. It must be to assess impact such disparate events. Do we think Samson is untruthful about the net money to the Marlins? If so, ok. If not, perhaps fans will understand the reality of the team's financial position (for those that think Sherman is somehow a mini Frank McCourt). Their situation is tenuous, especially after the 2020 losses. Claude Brochu's book about the Expos (pre-Loria) is eye-opening, and his time was one of much lower player salaries.
