    I carry a Cadet in my pocket around the house from the moment I wake up to the moment I hit the hay, because it's imperceptibly small while coming in handy every day almost without fail. Opening bottles, opening packages, nail maintenance (I play guitar), light prying, getting into my kid's toys battery compartments with the 2-dimensional phillips head of the can opener or nail file (both work well) etc etc. Love it. Outdoors for urban EDC I instead carry a Sportsman coz it's the exact same thing but in traditional red scales, giving it more utility while still being minimalistic and realistic.

      @@DanAddison it really is quite possibly the most perfect little pocket knife you could get

    I have a little one about the size and style of the blue one you showed on here, and it is a real Victorinox (it came from Wal-Mart, and I believe it sells for around $15). If you look at the knife blade, on the base near the pivot, it reads, "VICTORINOX SWISS MADE STAINLESS". And yes, even that tiny Swiss Army Knife has great craftsmanship and has served me well over the years, especially back when I was an office worker and couldn't carry much else. It has the knife blade, file, screwdriver, scissors (that really work), a toothpick, and tweezers.

      Thanks for watching and I think these sometimes get looked over because they have been out for so long and don’t really cause any headlines anymore.

      @@travisp11 Yep, and if it's the knife you have, it's the knife you need. I don't know how many times that little knife came in handy!

    I like how you kinda went through your different EDC pocket knives over the years.

      It’s been interesting because I’ve been using that Kershaw as my primary for quite a while now and I don’t seem to have any real need or desire to switch out even though there are so many cool knives out there.

    Proof of purchase shouldn't be required for the warranty. I've already sent in a SAK that I bought online and they fixed it. Awesome warranty.

    The tools and the back springs are all stainless steel, the side panels are aluminium, the rivets and spacers are nickel silver.

    They don't advertise their steel that much, but those "rumors" are true: X55CrMo(V)14 was mentioned in some of their catalogs, they have even shown it on a steel test screen in a factory tour video.
    You mentioned that the metal also comes from Switzerland, but I don't think it does. I believe they still import it from France and/or Germany.

      Ahh! Good to know. German still is pretty good. I have an older set of Henckel steak knives from Germany and they have held up well.

    They changed the texture of the file to single cut in 2018.
    I think it's a bit more aggressive now (and doesn't scratch the back of the blade).

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s what I noticed in the picture. Probably for the better and I’m glad it doesn’t scratch the blade anymore. That seems to be a problem most of them have had.

    What you have shown here in the paper cut test would be way too dull for me :D
    But with a few passes on a stone, you can get these things back to hair shaving sharp again.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s super sharp but a paper cut is something I don’t seem to do well on camera.

    84 mm is the closed full length.

    The bottle opener would have a half stop if made after 2011
