    Ali Akbar Sadeghi was born in Pamanar, one of the southern quarters of Tehran. He was graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University. He is deserved to be known as the most successful contemporary Iranian artists and of course the most prolific painter, illustrator and animator.
    His art activities trace back to 60 years ago in the other word it is 60 years that he is active in the field of art.
    From childhood he was enthralled by the stories of Shahnameh and the heroes of the Persian stories and myths who were narrated and depicted by the narrators. Lyricism, emotional and poetic expression is inseparable part of Ali Akbar Sadeghi’s world view, the world that its symbolic manifestations are sometimes appear in the old miniatures which are much more pleasant than the pure art.
    Ali Akbar Sadeghi in his reminiscent paintings, depict the rich tradition of Persian art, but grants it the spirit of surreal which embraces an astounding ambience, a wonderful mixture of real and extraordinary things which outcome of creating wonderful pictures of color and form. Sadeghi’s various Persian sources of stories and tales originate from the Iranian historical manifestations including sword, combatants, rose bowers, intricate decorative images and all these patterns are taken from classic carpets and have employed them in his Iranian miniature architypes, especially the ones that follow the Qajar works.
    Sadeghi’s inspirations that come from Iran culture, are not only from the source of aesthetics but also from the presence of Persian myths, epics, epical poems, Persian philosophy and even the mystical views too. All these items and elements have granted a grand arena for research and study.
    While Sadeghi has taken his artistic incentives from his own countries’ various art forms and intellectual schools, it is undeniable that he has also employed some aspects of the works of Max Ernest and De Chirico too.
    With regard to this fact that some critics and art veterans see Sadeghi as the Iranian Salvador Dally but Sadeghi calls himself simply a narrator of Iran manifestations and believes that he only grants the old Iranian stories, a worldly image belong to twenty and twenty-one centuries.
    Sadeghi shows his artistic concerns in various professional media such as painting, graphic designing, illustrating and animation. From this view one can name him the Iran Museum of Plastic Arts of the 50 past years.
    He is one of the first artists who started to cooperate with the Center for the Intellectual Growth of Children and Young Adults and he is also one of the founders of the section of animated cartoons in the Center. In 1991 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Center for Intellectual Growth of Children and Young Adults, he was awarded the emblem of honor for his outstanding achievements in film making, book illustrating and participating in more than 50 international film gatherings.
    Apart from the art of illustrating, Sadeghi is active in the fields of the film directing, and producing animated film. His animated films have received more than twenty international awards such as the 24th award of Peace Prize of Gandhi. In 1975 his animation under the name of “Rokh” received the prize of the best Film in the London Film Festival.
    As a whole Sadeghi has participated in more than fifty individual, group and bidding exhibitions and has been chosen as the member of the judging board of more than twenty international biennales. In 2009 he was known as the Immortal Character by the Ministry of Islamic Culture and Guidance.
