Def makes you a football expert to be one of the biggest busts in NFL history. Not even to mention the off the field.

This dude owns his past so genuinely. He has gone from walking punchline to the definition of holding yourself accountable. Love Ryan Leaf and hope he continues to do well.

There’s no bullshit with Ryan Leaf. I got a truckload of respect for this guy who crashed and rebuilt HIS LIFE…not to mention the conviction in his answers - Fantastic!

I am glad to see Ryan Leaf is succeeding in LIFE even though he failed in the NFL. LIFE is bigger than...a lot of smaller things in life.

Ryan is a great example of proof that people can change. It doesn’t happen often, but you can totally tell his transformation is authentic and sincere.

I've seen several documentaries and specials on the once great QB prospect Ryan Leaf. This young man was gone. Addicts on the level Leaf was on have about a 98% failure. He literally did hard time in a penitentiary. We all know the success rates of most ex cons. Leaf not beat all those negative odds, he kicked the odds azzes and bounced back better. One of the most unique stories of overcoming ever not just in sports. He and his experiences have guided many back on the right path.

Ryan is an inspiration. I have a tremendous amount of respect. How he turned his life aroand. And he takes full responsibility for his past. He's shown that you can learn from his mistakes. He s great story and talks to kids about how not to act.

Ehhh he has been a little weird about how he was behaving back when he was drafted. He bit off Bill Polians head over claims Leaf said he would be going to Vegas after the draft, but Leaf also said the story about him going straight to Vegas after the draft was no big deal and his dad was there. Then he recently claimed Irsay was lying when he said he had settled on Peyton months before the draft because Irsay said in an interview with Leaf that it was very close between Peyton/Leaf and someone told Irsay to take Leaf on the day of the draft, which doesn’t refute what Irsay claimed.
It has sounded like he’s not being totally honest about how he was back then.

I have always been on Ryan Leaf's side. The Chargers needed to have a PR team work with him to deal with the press and the Chargers were a bad team anyway. Ryan's situation made me come up with the idea of good players needed to find a way to knock the draft stock down to increase their chance of being overlooked by bad teams and land on better teams. You're asking kids to save your organization especially QBs. He had the talent he needed help dealing with playing for a very bad team. Once the press know they can get under your skin it's a rap.

Why would Bill Polian lie about that?

  • @kevinbrennan-ji1so

I typically like DP and his show. Not a big Ryan Leaf fan (although it's good to see him getting his life together). That said, DP seemed to cut off Leaf mid-answer about 5 or 6 times in the first half of the interview. The second half flowed better.
I don't like interviewers cutting off people unless they are filibustering, which Leaf wasn't. Each time he was cut off, I was interested in what he was saying. So, I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed with DP's interview on this one.

I strongly disagree with his take on Arthur Smith. He went 7-10 in back-to-back seasons with one of the worst rosters in the league. He's done a great job

Ryan was given some hassles by the team leaders at San Diego. I don't think he got along at times with some of them. He is a great athlete but maybe the money changed Ryan and he did not play the game with the big ego's in a locker room.
