One of the things I hate most on TH-cam, is the total disregard for the like button. When a channel has great content and is marvelously done, please take time to give them credit for their hard work.

    • @theresahaines2647
      @theresahaines2647 ปีที่แล้ว +11

You have to understand, TH-cam has the ability to withdraw your like of a video. TH-cam wants to control how many likes a TH-camr should get. It’s all about the payout. If a TH-camr gets a lot of likes, then it means more of a payout to that TH-camr. I’ve liked many videos only to have TH-cam withdraw that like. It’s been going on for years and it’s not going to change.

If I didn't like the video, I wouldn't be watching. The like button is a very stupid concept. My views is enough to show support for the channel.

It's too bad about your pack. I have owned the same exact one for 2 years and have used it everytime I've gone out o trail since without fail or any kind of tearing. My only 2 complaints about the pack is there is no separate compartment at the bottom and mine has begun to get some sun fade. Otherwise it's fantastic. Carries weight well and very comfortable. Also love that it has pass through pockets on the side so I can slide my trekking poles through or a flyrod.

I think it's incredibly important not to underestimate having the knowledge and skills to do things the "old way". Practicing the old ways of bushcraft can save lives. No single person can prepare for EVERY situation. Most of the time, folks aren't preparing to get lost, stuck or even "medically stranded" (which is a HUGE possibility itself that should never be overlooked). On any given day, ppl don't leave their homes carrying everything they need to wait for a rescue or make their way to a safe spot to be found, esp on their person. They aren't prepared to be immobilized, separated from their vehicle or possibly be forced to abandon it. You can only truly prepare for so much. The whole idea behind learning and practicing most basic bushcraft skills is so that you can be ready for those times which you cannot anticipate or prepare for.
All that being said, when practicing the craft, we definitely shouldn't be out there destroying our forests. Playing in the woods is one thing, and I totally agree that when doing so, exercising discretion and respect for the forest should be paramount. Proactively preparing with the knowledge to survive a worst case scenario is a whole different ball game. Hopefully, most of us will never have to depend on those skills to save our lives... 😬

Hi Luke I really enjoy your outdoor camping adventures. You said in a video last year that you should enjoy life now. I know you enjoy the solitude of the forest. I feel the same way about the beach and riding my bike. I have a hot tub in my backyard and I just sit in the warm water listening to the birds and watching the clouds go by. We live close to the beach so we get those warm gulf breezes. I’m 68 and do more outside now than when I was younger. I appreciate everyday. Keep your inspiring videos coming. Thank you.

I like the modern bushcraft channel idea. I never enter the woods without two bic lighters, 50 feet of cord, a small lightweight knife, a few wax candles, a couple Mylar sheets, 9mm, plus whatever gear I think is needed for the setting. I enjoy making rope from twine and making fire by friction, but I don’t want to waste time if I don’t have to in a real situation. I have to believe the channels that demonstrate old world skills have backups to their backups. I look forward to another series from you!

Luke👍👍 Nice misty, foggy mountain forest camp. I know you were testing the tent so no tarp overhead, but, that's my favorite way to set up. Just a great way to camp, cozy, convenient and protected. The sounds and scents of rain in the forest is hard to beat and when under a tarp it's especially good. Some people go out in the wild with reckless abandon, sometimes they don't come back. Being scared is one thing, being foolish is something else, always carry protection and know how to use it. Yep, this was a good one, fire, food and chat, thanks for the work and trip. Well done. See ya next time.

Hi Luke, another great episode. Your dedication to showing us the scene and the scenery is really appreciated. I love the sound of rain and thunder. I think that tent would be ideal for festival or day trippers (quick set-up, light, quick break-down). I must say tho, that it grieves me how kids now bring a new tent, sleeping bags, gear etc to a festival and just leave it all there after them. It would be great if they brought it all to a bring centre and donated it all to homeless charities etc.

Sort of a similar theme to your gas station pylon story: I've lived in Alaska for the past 25 years. Briefly, long ago, I worked at a Fred Meyer and would have lunch in my car in the parking lot. You wouldn't believe how many people I witnessed absolutely jacking their cars up on the concrete wheel stoppers when they got covered in snow. All people would see is some fresh, untouched snow and just gun it through the parking lot. And all I would hear is boom boom boom of their tires exploding, rims exploding, pieces of their cars just flying through the air. I always wondered how in the world they forgot that those curbs were there.

There is no courage without fear. Fear is manufactured in your head. That fear must be faced. Never turn your back on the ocean…the thing that is causing the fear. How can you deal with the coming waves if you turn your back on them and avoid them? They will come. Work with them and you survive. Turn your back and they will hit you in the back, driving you down on your face, in the sand or on the rocks. Perspective of an old vet, retired in the hills of east Tennessee.

Another great relaxing video! Love the sound of rain on the roof of tarp. 😊 How's that Skyemac stove holding up? Warping and such? How many fires have you had in it now? Seems to be your favorite backpacking stove/firepit. Thinking to get one to add to my Collection.

Luke, I watch some camping shows but I have to say I enjoy yours the most. Love to watch you set up and I love the chats. My husband says he doesn’t know how you drink that coffee tho. Lol

Nice episode! As far as having a fear when I’m out camping or bush crafting and I’m not sure that it would necessarily be fear but more like worry about is running into a hornet’s nest or yellow jackets nest and get stung a bunch of times by a swarm or sometimes I go thru some areas that are super thick and you could run up on a bear den or coyote den before you ever new it.

Never camped over night in a tent. I adore the idea but in all honesty, I would be the one packing up my stuff in the middle of the night and leaving so fast your head would spin. Not because of the animals but the physco that could be lurking somewhere 🥺

Modern bushcraft, that just makes sense. We're not the Stone age anymore.

People worry me more then nature. Nature goes on primal instincts.

I love the idea of information on modern bushcraft, both the gear and the "why" of doing something.

I'm really curious much water you generally take with you on these trips. Great Vid as always. A modern bushcrafting series would be great. It is exactly how I think, even though I can still do primitive tasks. Work smarter, not harder
