Thanks as ever! Maybe sell the large cookie jars as flour jars? They’re perfect for dipping in a measuring cup with the nice wide mouth… The new studio is looking great - can’t wait to see it completed :)
Watched your video from a to z. Enjoyed it very much. Its beautiful, all pieces, stunning. My faves still all the fish and wales, specially Jackies wales and Jackies little platters. Greetz Sheila ♡
This made me smile. Lovely combinations. Crawling happens to us all; the refire is sometimes iffy but other times perfect. Love the fish as well - very colourful.
Watching your videos Vaughn, is like putting on my favorite warm sweater. Reliable, familiar and feels a bit like a hug. I really love the new landscape combinations with the black sky! Gorgeous! I wonder if you put a little white on a toothbrush & spritzed the black sky just ever so slightly would it look like a winter night sky. Thank you for sharing all of your master skills with the world. Hello to Jackie! 🍁🍂🌾🍁 Enjoy your beautiful fall weather!
Thanks for commenting, I do the spatter on my winter landscape pieces in the folk art style. I tried pasting an image here but TH-cam does not allow that task. If you email me I can put the image in an email,
So many beautiful pieces! :-) Neat idea making picture frames too, I never thought of that. And what was that very cool music you had playing in the background around footage 35:57? My Shazam app couldn't identify it.
Wow. what would I have to have your new studio. I know what I am missing as I did at one time have my own studio and 4 kilns. (1, electric, 2 gas and and a pit kiln for my exhibition work.) Currently I do not have the same access. I am in a retirement village and our club did have a gas kiln and it was deemed too dangerous for women over 55 years and this was replaced with an electric kiln , but we have been gifted a small Skutt kiln that we have refurbished. As the rest of our club are not interested in throwing or making up glazes, I have taken the Skutt ( it now has a proper controller )for myself. And I love your work and glazes and I do have your glazes and expertise to draw on. I will be asking my clay supplier what they could advise me on( i.e. what will vitrify at cone 6/7 and the glaze will fit at cone6/ 7, electric. Thankfully as we are in a 'club '" in a retirement village we do not pay for electricity but the members do pay for firing as this helps us maintain the kilns, plus buying clay and glaze component's. If I was in better health I would be over like a shot as I love your work and all of the explanations on how you achieve the combinations and of course all of the recipes. Even if I make them up it will be different but I do need some other glazes to trial. Yes I know that I can go to books and glazy.org. But it is not the same as someone pointing out some of the pitfalls. Unfortunately fish do not sell in Perth, been there and done that many years ago. Keep up the good work. PS I love Jackie's small trays. At the moment I am making trays in all sizes and shapes, I have been having treatment for breast cancer but I am just so looking forward as to when I can get back to throwing. I have taken a lot of your tips on board and I hope that I will stand out from the crowd. Keep up the good work and I am so pleased that Jackie is growing also. I hope to have some cone 6 clay and looking forward to playing, I will have to hide the new glazes as our Admin think that we have too many glazes, and as for mixing the same glazes with a drill, well we are not to be let loose with that. I did ask the management to come and make some pots and glaze, fire they did do this but since then they have gone backwards.. and they are so concerned about the chemicals and what they might do!! We now have a list of "poisonous" items that are declared unsafe and this includes ANY feldspars. I have been a potter since 1977 and have done all of the chemical analysist and would never allow the new potters near a glaze until they have been thoroughly vetted. I supervise all of the glaze make up. We will survive as potters do . Can you guess that we have a male dominated admin!! I am going to go forwards with this and hope that the powers that be will let us alone to do what we need to do and keep ourselves with safe practises. I had not realised that I had whittered so long, I aplogise Margaret
Thanks for the comment, I hope you can at least get more enjoyment from doing clay work, doing things we love help us live longer. Insurance is probably a major concern for the authorities, they are very risk averse. Good luck with the health issue.
Those mugs at the end of the first unloading!💕
Your new studio looks amazing and coming along splendidly 😊
beautiful pieces! loved the whales and the big plates especially. Greens look very pretty in the gas kiln ❤
Thanks.
Thank you Vaughan for another great kiln opening video with lots of hints and ideas.
Beautiful black Master Smith!
You said red & green should never be seen, which made me chuckle as my grandmother used to say blue & green should never seen 🤣
except on an Irish colleen. 😊
Love your kiln openings! New studio is looking good
Those whales make me smile. The square ones with the decorative elements. I just love them!
Gorgeous work Vaughn!
I’m glad you’re having a good year. Love all the pice’s.
Thanks as ever!

@@Vsmithpots you are welcome
Wow 6 degrees top to bottom is pretty good, I’d say you have it dialed in! Nice work!

Those whales are amazing. I can see why they sell so well.

Hi Vaughan, I’ve only watched the electric kiln unloading so far and love the mat turquoise with the black mugs, it really looks lovely together 😊
So many beautiful pieces! :-) Neat idea making picture frames too, I never thought of that. And what was that very cool music you had playing in the background around footage 35:57? My Shazam app couldn't identify it.
At the end of the video is his TH-cam channel address, Stuart Holman 4400
Your designs were beautiful. Question: does the matte area get scratched by knives and forks when the plate is in use?
I have not had any complaints and it has been out in the world for almost a year on my pieces.

The big whale with the tail and spout pointing upwards, is it one piece or 2 layers
They are one large slab with sprigging of smaller pieces of clay on top.
