I play ranked with the shield and think that gold 2 is pretty solid. People start frantically running away after meeting me a few times.

I am Diamond 3 with the shield only ;) But you can see this guy doesn't use the shield too often. Shield placement is always wrong and also the healing beam is the absolute worst for the shield. You never drop your shield and almost never actually use the block. The block handycaps yourself way too much as it slows you down, also enemies can shoot you more easily (foots are free )
