Wot no Calor abroad? Fitting a Spanish gas bottle

- Calor gas is only available in uk for caravans and motorhomes....
but your going to Spain ? Mark shows what we did to ensure we didn't go without gas when are UK Calor bottle hits empty.
All fixture and fittings for the Spanish gas bottles are available in UK camping shops or in DIY, camping or chinese markets across Spain. DONT forget to pack your adjustable spanner!

Hi Calor is the name of a company that supplies cylinders of Butane and Propane gas in the UK The lighter as in weight gas cylinders in Spain are a bit more expensive for a refill than the heavier ones . Both Repsol and Cepsa sell them. Love you videos.
Yep we got repsol and cheaper than UK.

Hello Mark & Judy, have now managed to get the Safefill bottles filled up without a problem, the Repsol bottle I bought from the campsite gave up before it was empty, quite a bit of gas still sploshing about in it, so don’t know if it was a problem with the regulator I bought at the Spanish shop, if you remember when I turned the gas bottle on my indicator flags did not turn green and stayed red, but everything was working ok, but just wouldn’t let me use all the contents of the bottle, hope you’re having, had a fabulous birthday Mark, take care guys and see you soon.👍
Hi Mark.. Glad your sorted now... There's always something... Our fridge is now working on gas so Mark thinks it cause we weren't on a level the gas didn't work... Milenco lock fitted now too.. Need to vlog on that next week... But all good looking forward to seeing you in mojacar take care xx

Standard gas bottle fitting here in Ireland for domestic gas bottle 13.5kgs
Have you not just replace a high pressure crimped hose with a one with a Jubilee clip?

We got the Spanish gas bottle from Las Devesas market and exchanged at repsol garage... Always get butane because propane is hard to get... Is that any help? X

No thanks awful things friends could not find a garage to refill very stressful would never get these for abroad.
Gypsy Souls Judy Mark and Summer Didn’t realise it was so difficult to fill them in Spain. You’d have thought you could fill them at a fuel station like in the uk. Good to know
I had same uk battle and I bought a filler Adapter to fill it with auto gas it cost £20
As per safe fill petrol stations here in Denia do not allow refill gas bottles... Too much hassle hunting to find somewhere friends really cross as spent lots of money on safe fill... Who wants to spend a day looking and driving for a garage that will fill?

Hello Mark, is that a regulator or just an adapter on the top of your Spanish gas bottle?. If it's just an adapter then you have full high gas pressure between your adapter and the van regulator. Your hose is only secured by jubilee clips. If I was you I'd get a proper high pressure hose with fixed ends. I would not trust jubilee clips to retain a high pressure gas connection.

The kit came as assembled... Same as gas bbq in UK.

@@gypsysoulsjudymark.escapet7388 The difference is what you would use for a gas bbq has a regulator between the bottle and the hose. The pressure in the bottle can be up to 200psi which is why pigtails are designed for high pressure and have a service life of 5 years. Using your type of hose with jubilee clips is only safe to use after the regulator as the pressure has been reduced to less than 0.5psi.

Our friend who had safe fill filled OK in France but had problems in Spain but that was few years ago so may be different now.... If you join a caravan forum ask on there x

Our motor home is propane, butane is no good, can you get propane?
Yes you can get propane in Spain but its difficult most common is butane from Repsol Cespa

No thanks nowhere to fill friends had nightmare... Garages won't allow it in Spain.
I have never had any problems filling mine while in France and Spain
