I like all of them for one reason or another. I'm not the type to be embarrassed by what my partner is wearing or to get jealous of other guy's glances.
Japanese people seem to also take issue with their partner having dinner with the opposite sex. It seems very controlling to me. I have been with my husband 30 years and we have opposite sex friends. So do my parents, married over 50 years! Relationships in my culture are built on trust, not setting rules for your partner. If you can't trust them, no amount of rules are going to fix that. I'm trying to imagine my husband telling me what to wear. I can't picture it!
What surprises me the most is that Japanese men have so much interest or opinions toward girls’ outfits! Their opinions are not expressed so much so girls are not sure what they are going to wear for a date. I would love to share this videos with my female friends!😊❤️
I’d be embarrassed to be seen with a man wearing a shirt with random English words on it. It just reminds me of all those bad Kanji tattoos, but in the form of shirts.
Would it still embarrass you even if you were the only one who knew and everyone else thought it looked cool? We can’t forget these tastes are based off years of culture even if they’re misogynistic these people are just average citizens

The first two A and B are on the casual type and more for dates and special outings. C is an outdoor more sportswear type. Can't really judge them but the first two really will intimidate most men for how serious it looks. D is definitely more for the private time.
Japan: no revealing clothing at all cause it’s inappropriate America: go all out with the revealing clothing cause it’s sexy Just shows the difference in cultures between the west and the east (overall). (I hate clothes that show too much skin as well as tattoos and dyed hair just saying. It makes me uncomfortable; and not in a good way.)
People in one culture care about what others think of them , and the people in the other don’t care about public opinion . But for a stable society to exist , the individuals in the society must think about what wrong to do in public and what’s right , so that everything stays in peace , so I think in this regard , east wins over west .
@@WANDERER0070 But you saw that not even showing legs was very appreciated. I have the same preferences (even though I am not attracted to women) I think women are more beautiful when dressed like the models these guys chose as their favorites
I think it's funny the guy with bleached hair, purple hair, frosted tips braided hair, talking about the clothes sticking out and getting stares in public. It's almost ironic.
Erm, none of their haircuts was nearly as attention-drawing as short shorts or hot pink print tee. There’s moderate experimentation with hair and then there are shorts which look like underwear…
@@jeremiahsmith916 dying your hair is kind of a big deal in Japan. the nail that sticks out gets hammered. Also, for the shorts, I agree. Depends on the time and place though really on how much I agree. Neither of the shorts were bad if you're going to say, the beach. Then it'd almost be quite modest compared to a bikini. However, going to your grandmothers funeral, yeah not a good idea.
@@Fektthis hmm, that's right, I forgot that bleached hair is also seen as much more unusual in Japan than it is in the West. Thank you for pointing this out. Anyways, the guys were asked to give an opinion and they did, their own appearance was never intended to be the focus of these questions. Agreed, these shorts are perfectly good for a beach or resort. But for the city - maybe I'm too oldschool hahah, but for me feels a bit uncomfortable.
It is genuinely fascinating to see just how much of a cultural difference exist even in streetwear and clothes in guys preference and standards for what's keen for them and what isn't, in contrast to what's acceptable in the west.
T shirt and jeans I guess thats what they prefer? Basic stuff? Either way dress to attract the type of man you want (casual or elegant), it ok to scare off the rest.
H, B, nd A to me are the cutest outfits. Though, a lot of these casual wear outfits seem to lack a lot of color, so I personally would have to brighten it up a little. Not like G though. G's a little too much😆.
Men often make the mistake of thinking that women dress up for them. The Irish singer, Van Morrison says this about that: "All the girls walk by, dressed up for each other."
As always, great video! Also, the addition of Japanese captions, like in your last video, would be an amazing plus! Anyway, thank you for the excellent content!
I think it is important to draw attention to the right spots in an outfit. I agree with the statement that showing so much skin might be confusing and you wouldn't know where to look. Personally, it would make me question if they feel lost in their identity, which would make me uncomfortable to be around...
@𝘿!𝙘𝙠 Riding ǤƗяℓ Ellie It is important to remember that all people are hypocritical, as it is part of human nature... But there is also the case of space. Perhaps the man with the braids sees his style as something that doesn't stand out, which would usually be amongst others who wear Japanese "street fashion style." Therefore, he would not stand out. For example, here in New York City, none of the men in this video would stand out, but perhaps in Albany, he may, as it is not a fashion center. However, it is important to take into factor I am speaking from my perspective, being a New Yorker, a Westerner, speaking through a Western POV with experience with the Eastern lens. Lastly, fashion has a point to its design and it is always a statement, and a failure in any type of fashion is to literally make it impossible for others to catch attention to the parts it meant to highlight.
A - I like it, it's kinda cute and simple! B - I LOVE it! I think this would look amazing on any girl of this complexion and gives off elegance, femininity, style, purity and very alluring at the same time :) C - Contrary to most respondents in the video, I actually like this outfit. If in place of shorts it was a miniskirt I would totally say no, but shorts like this are perfectly fine for me, the rest is also very good and overall it feels balanced (its important for me personally!) D - Problem isn't that certain parts in isolation are too revealing, but more so that ALL of the areas are revealing all at once. For summer outfit I personally would not even mind her wearing the kinda cut like that (unless her cups are really big, in which case this would probably be a mismatch for the outfit and would make it look too vulgar and scream "look at me I want your attention and thirst!", which is a big no-no for me). For me the thing that triggers my artistic OCD here is the lack of balance. If she is revealing her chest like that then it would look better if she covered her bottom more, or do it the other way round (a bit like outfit C does it). E - Not my type, too baggy for my liking, sorry! It's not bad ofc, its just not something I would call "attractive". F - Same as with outfit C, like it, cute, not vulgar and probably comfy for day to day kinda thing. G - Nope, not digging the crazy colour cocktail on this one at all, its literally all over the place and makes my eyes kinda hurt. It also looks a bit cheap even if it turns out to have been made by the likes of Gucci or Versace. It lacks elegance and class. A more monotone colour with this design could actually work well though. So design-wise its not bad, but colour scheme - terrible choice imho. H - Definitely like it for the same reason as A, but I think it may not suit everybody though. But overall it does look cute and attractive. I - Also kinda cute and nice, the top may feel a tad bit loose, but I think if your cup size is big you would look spot on with this top. Its very nicely balanced and gives off mixed vibes between A, B and H for me. Conclusion: The winner is Yuta-san's haircut and his "afternoon shade" length type of beard. Have a great day everybody, love ya! :)
E is adorable. I guess I see where the "childish" thing comes from, but I think it's cute and fashionable. I've seen women pull off this kind of look, it seems kind of like something Mossa from Necry Talkie would wear.
Disagreed with all of them, but I expected it. They thought the ones I like looks old-fashioned but I think they ones they like look old-fashioned. Interesting how that works. Oh and I loved G because I love psychedelic art. Also thanks Yuta I learned the words 露出 (skin exposure) and 目のやり場 (place to look).
I feel like Japanese people define old by the literal date without concerning the concept of retro, throwback, and "what's old is new" which I think are concepts in which young people in the western world generally have a good understanding of. 90s and 2000s by their definition is old. 80s to them seem to be the current retro. Even then, their pop music and fashion hardly reflects that era. I suspect it was only because of the city pop fad which started in the western countries that has influenced 80s retro trends in Japan to some degree. But generally I'm not seeing much retro in Japanese trends nowadays. Meanwhile in the western world we are literally reviving Y2K mall goth, 90s Brit boy fashion, late 90s and 2000s pop star fashion (Britney Spears, Paris Hilton or whatever), etc.. It's actually hilarious. The way they despised gyaru is a suggestion that it's far from having a comeback. Actually, gyaru first peaked during 1999-2000 with the ganguro trend. It's very much a part of that 20 year period of throwback phase. Late 90s Japan was also in the disco phase. It was also the golden era of Harajuku fashion. Anime also had a boom in the western world in the late 90s. Actually, I would day modern western trends are very much influenced by Japanese trends of the Y2K era.
What is cool with this is that it is still interesting even if I laughed way more on the male fashion video or learned way more on the female fashion video!
In the place where I live, men often do not pay much attention to clothes, but they do not support open dress like these Japanese guys. but something caught my attention. I noticed that most Japanese guys prefer a girl to dress according to her age, and prefer a style that combines the concept of classic simplicity and charm. I support such thinking. This is not the case where I live. It's like I'm going to Japan looking for a Japanese guy)
The questionnaire/interview does not provide much context but merely a list A->H,I,J etc... As some answers attested to: Context changes answers: 1. The very minimal clothing: In the house or on the beach or in the bed ;-) 2. The very bright clothing: A background dancer would fit but not so much for Japanese fashion shopping 3. The exceptionally clean white dress: Too high standard of etiquette for one man but for another the epitome of classical beauty. 4. Clearly the Black combo one-piece was popular: It fits Japanese aesthetics and fashion standards - to go walking or shopping with such a lady would feel good, the attitude of the dress is someone who is meticulous in their attitude and demonstrates a subtle aesthetic considerate of others but also demonstrating real beauty... 5. The kiddy fun skin revealing clothing - maybe for younger girls it shows their zest for life and kawaii role but not for a man's serious love interest? Etc. Thus there's a lot of depth. But nonetheless the understated Japanese answers were very polite and considerate and balanced and as such impressive: A language to learn I would conclude from this study of women's clothes is all !
Men showing they care a lot more about girl’s clothes than people think for 20 minutes LOL! Love this interview, great topic! I wonder how they would feel if there were plus sized versions of what’s more fashionable? How would they compare?
4:55 Oh, this chap isn't in his 20's anymore? Wonderful, I was worried I was a little bit in love with someone too young! (I jest, but he has great hair.) I think I agree with this guy and the blonde boy's style appraisal the most. I love how passionate that third man in the group of street fashion guys was for good fashion. He gave very critical feedback not just on his taste, but specifically on the cut, style, and fashion relevancy of the outfits. Obviously, he appreciates fashion as a whole, given his own style, but I just really appreciated his analysis beyond his own tastes. It's interesting, because these looks all feel very Western to me. One of the reasons I've always preferred Japanese fashion was because it wasn't the basic white girl in short shorts look I see so often stateside. I probably favour looks closer to A, but with a bit more flare, or colour (a nice teal instead of white?), and that is a look you won't find easily in mainstream stores most years. Too clean, a little girly, not short enough... But what I think is very feminine and simple, while still having some interesting design features. Like the shorter slip beneath the lace, which leaves it both modest and fashionable. I can't condemn trends for moving to Western styles there, but if that's the case... can we swap? How 'bout it, Western designers, like a cultural exchange program? I'd love to see this concept revisited but about what women think of women's styles. (I know you have them reacting to men's outfits, but I'm interested in what they think of their own clothing options. After all, it's not always the case that you like the trends as they are currently, and sometimes fashion tries to move too fast and crashes. (Like 'G'... If they tried that style but a little more subdued, like fewer colours, or stripes instead of tie-dye, I wonder how it would have gone over, and if a positive response would pave the way for G as a trend.)
E is just more of a casual youth wear type. F not too revealing and can be outdoor wear without too much attention. G a bit colorful and more of a house wear.
Considering how hot summers are in general, I’d say leave your conservatism for the winter months. As a mature woman in her 30s, I gravitate more towards A or B, but really, it’s a mixture of some of these outfits. “D” and “E” are the worst stylistically. “D” would be better if paired with jeans or khakis and a long, airy cardigan. “E” I would just cook alive in the summer heat as is. If the sleeves were shorter and hair up in a bun or something, it’d look better. “G” is typical in a beach setting or loudly express that you’re a tourist.
I agree with them, for the most part. A, B, and H look good, F (I certainly don't mind the shoulders) and I are okay. The rest look like crap. That said, I'm annoyed they didn't include a single outfit with a NORMAL mini skirt, which I saw several girls in Tokyo wear, and which I like...Out of these, you either get long dresses and skirts like A, B and H, or ultra short ones like D and I. I wanted the in between.
Please everyone remember these are just the opinions of a few individuals, they aren't objectifying women or forbidding women from wearing what they want, just simply saying which outfits they like and which they don't. Please remember "Speak good or remain silent"
@@CobraRedstone There's also a sampling bias in the interviewees. Only people who consent to being shown on camera and let themselves be shown on a TH-cam channel would participate.
@@CobraRedstone You can objectify modestly dressed women. Objectification isn't about how revealing your clothes are. Case in point, some of them were focusing a lot on whether or not they wanted a girlfriend to walk next to them in public wearing certain outfits, as if they were an accessory, or object.

The first one I find attractive but think it makes the girl less approachable and more like it's going to be a very expensive date much like the one guy said. Most of these I liked (or thought were just meh) xcept the super short shorts and tank top (okay at the beach imo too) and the really weird baggy one. H was probably my favorite overall. Very cute Least favorite the baggy one. Just doesn't look good to me and non form fitting. If the strapless top didn't also have the belly shirt and super short shorts it would have been much better. Finally girls who go out in public like that imo often will look like they are looking for a good time and not necessarily a serious date. But that's just my opinion

I find interesting that I loved both, D and H even though they're like completely opposite xD And personally I hate overalls so E is a no no for me, that and G too.
All of the outfits looked fine except G and E... Those would look strange in an adult women. Those same looks would look fine in children (I actually thought G was a child at first glance). E just looks too masculine. The best part is the very realistic guy saying he would totally date a girl, but that most likely the sentiment wouldn't be mutual haha

@@diydylana3151 Pretty much this lmao
Just wear your own style and don't worry about it
Haha I'm surprised too, I always thought you could turn up in a tea towel and a pair of clogs and most guys wouldn't notice or care 😆
Love the hair Yuta!

This was actually really interesting to watch for such a simple concept. You showed a great variety of different styles and colours of clothing and I love how everyone provided detailed answers as to why they liked or disliked an outfit. They were are cool and honest +the blue shirt guy seemed so sweet and open minded even if he disliked an outfit, it was cute how he said "she probably wouldn't date me" awh xD
As a woman I liked all of their outfits, simple and nice looking, I would maybe just exclude the hip hop basketball shirt guy, I understand the style it looks good on him but too hip/high school boy lookin :)
Also it still amazes me eachtime just how smoothly you manage to transition to your japanese learning promo hah, always on point!
The first two A and B are on the casual type and more for dates and special outings. C is an outdoor more sportswear type. Can't really judge them but the first two really will intimidate most men for how serious it looks. D is definitely more for the private time.
Brb, I'm headed to Japan to find the guy with the blue shirt and make him my man ;}

Just shows the difference in cultures between the west and the east (overall).
(I hate clothes that show too much skin as well as tattoos and dyed hair just saying. It makes me uncomfortable; and not in a good way.)
Plenty of people on both sides of the ocean with inverse opinions. Hardly a concrete cultural difference.

yes Japan is more civilized then the US
People in one culture care about what others think of them , and the people in the other don’t care about public opinion .
But for a stable society to exist , the individuals in the society must think about what wrong to do in public and what’s right , so that everything stays in peace , so I think in this regard , east wins over west .

My man Yuta being the man of culture as always BTW love the new hair-do!
Man, there are some I didn't like much, but I don't think I would tell my gf not to wear it if she wants to. . .
I think it's funny the guy with bleached hair, purple hair, frosted tips braided hair, talking about the clothes sticking out and getting stares in public. It's almost ironic.
because for them only the girl has to not stand out, only them have the right to dress however they want lmao
He seemed to think of himself as a fashion expert.
What about we ask male clothes to male and female clothes to females

I agree. That would also be an interesting discussion
yes!
It is genuinely fascinating to see just how much of a cultural difference exist even in streetwear and clothes in guys preference and standards for what's keen for them and what isn't, in contrast to what's acceptable in the west.
I like how all of them go into details saying why they like or don't the outfits.
T shirt and jeans I guess thats what they prefer? Basic stuff? Either way dress to attract the type of man you want (casual or elegant), it ok to scare off the rest.
Or better yet, dress the way you like, not 'in order to' attract anyone. And be attracted to people who don't care about shallow things as much 🤗
H, B, nd A to me are the cutest outfits.
This was super fun. I would love to see Japanese Men Love and Hate: Foreign Alternative Fashion!!!!
I personally find outfit B most attractive as well. It has all the elements of a dignified women. Elegant, mature, and modest.
A - I like it, it's kinda cute and simple!
B - I LOVE it! I think this would look amazing on any girl of this complexion and gives off elegance, femininity, style, purity and very alluring at the same time :)
C - Contrary to most respondents in the video, I actually like this outfit. If in place of shorts it was a miniskirt I would totally say no, but shorts like this are perfectly fine for me, the rest is also very good and overall it feels balanced (its important for me personally!)
D - Problem isn't that certain parts in isolation are too revealing, but more so that ALL of the areas are revealing all at once.
I applaud your effort, damn
The H type dress have been popular in Japan for at least 15 years.

Your hair looks so good!!!!!!!
The questionnaire/interview does not provide much context but merely a list A->H,I,J etc...
As some answers attested to: Context changes answers:
1. The very minimal clothing: In the house or on the beach or in the bed ;-)
2. The very bright clothing: A background dancer would fit but not so much for Japanese fashion shopping
Kind of surprising but i love the honesty.
I like the comments the guy in the blue shirt accepts clothes and style women wears , he has a good opinion
This bears out something that I learned from living in Japan: Japan is far more traditional and conservative than you might think!
Yes, exactly!
I think most of them would get along with my muslim father lmao. Their comments about the length of the clothes are something that I hear everyday
I'm kinda glad to know that these guys don't like too flashy or revealing outfits.

1:33 aww, this guy is so down to earth
Men showing they care a lot more about girl’s clothes than people think for 20 minutes LOL! Love this interview, great topic! I wonder how they would feel if there were plus sized versions of what’s more fashionable? How would they compare?
🤣🤣🤣this was so funny.. I am amazed how different their opinions are from what men would answer in my country - spain-
4:55 Oh, this chap isn't in his 20's anymore?
“I like skin!” The host is a man of culture!
A is exactly my style. Japanese guys have loved it lol

i like how yuta predicted we're gonna like the blue shirt guy so he also wore blue
Also! Yuta I like your style these days!
Please everyone remember these are just the opinions of a few individuals, they aren't objectifying women or forbidding women from wearing what they want, just simply saying which outfits they like and which they don't. Please remember "Speak good or remain silent"
On the contrary, they (most of them) showed they prefer clothes which least presents an image of objectification.
@@CobraRedstone exactly
@@CobraRedstone There's also a sampling bias in the interviewees. Only people who consent to being shown on camera and let themselves be shown on a TH-cam channel would participate.
@@CobraRedstone You can objectify modestly dressed women. Objectification isn't about how revealing your clothes are. Case in point, some of them were focusing a lot on whether or not they wanted a girlfriend to walk next to them in public wearing certain outfits, as if they were an accessory, or object.
@@brunhilda180 Well then, by that definition, then there's nothing wrong with the objectification. Plus, if you watch the girl's version, they also objectify the guys lol

"Your heaven is here" guy was the best
I really found it funny how the three dude-bros were so picky about women's fashion while looking like a bad Limp Bizkit tribute band.
I wanna start a fan club for the guy in the blue shirt - what a lad
The first one I find attractive but think it makes the girl less approachable and more like it's going to be a very expensive date much like the one guy said. Most of these I liked (or thought were just meh) xcept the super short shorts and tank top (okay at the beach imo too) and the really weird baggy one.
H was probably my favorite overall. Very cute
Least favorite the baggy one. Just doesn't look good to me and non form fitting.
If the strapless top didn't also have the belly shirt and super short shorts it would have been much better. Finally girls who go out in public like that imo often will look like they are looking for a good time and not necessarily a serious date. But that's just my opinion
Thanks for all all your videos thanks 🙏✌🏼
Beige and white seems to be the most vanilla japanese womens color combo.
I'm with Yuta on this one
These guys really had some strong opinions, lol. The three "street style" guys were so funny. When one guy said the t-shirt was ダサい I just laughed and laughed.
Some of yall are attacking the people getting interviewed. Remember that this is their preferences and they were ask about it. No need to get all mad at them for having preferences like any of us.
I find interesting that I loved both, D and H even though they're like completely opposite xD

the guy with the white shirt and US flag on it is so cute he seemed so shy and his voice is so cute lmao
It's a little surprising that colorful and flashy rated just as poorly as Daisy Dukes, but skimpy was fine as long as it was indoors.
Every guy likes different stuff I’m noticing but overall trend is don’t wear big patterns and don’t show too much skin
