    Lining up the trucks probably was nice early shakedown for the bin system. That thing seems world class. I’d say a lot of farmers will be interested in what you all think of the bin setup after a season. What, or if you would do anything differently. Hopefully Sukup is paying attention, you have done a good job showcasing their product. Cheers all.

      We will have to do a sit down after harvest and say what we think of everything and if we'd change anything!

    Good to see you putting cement around the bins. Makes it a lot easier to clean up around the bins and keeps the rat and mice population lower. I see so many farmers just putting gravel around the bins and trying to clean up spilled corn. I have cement around all my bins myself. Once that corn or soybeans gets wet they stink so bad too.

    • @mannfamilyfarms381
      @mannfamilyfarms381  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once it falls in gravel theres no getting it back. We had that problem with the old set up and then yeah it sits then it gets rotten...

    Wax Your Truck & Tractor Windshields & Glass (best is the old cheap Turtle Wax), they will 1.Not get dirty as quick(especially with dust) 2. 10 times easier to see out of in Rain. 3. Easier to clean with either a dust mop or strong stream of water. 4. Will not chip or pit as quickly from gravel. I use to get close to 8 weeks out of 1 good waxing during harvest. It’s work, but I always appreciated that the effort cleaner view & driving in the Rain. I think Armor All has come out with a Ceramic Window Cleaner Treatment but cheap Turtle Wax is better, a little more effort to use. Try it you’ll be pleased!

    You are doing a bang up job on Area 21. Love the Plc control system. You all looked a bit like deer in the head lights when you were getting the official walk through. Is there a cheat sheet that comes with that system? Looking forward to our deep dive and your thoughts on the PLC grain handling system.
    Delayed harvest, but it didn't take long to process those trucks!

    Can you show how the corn head works. Is part of the plant pulled down under the head or is everything fed into the combine?

    • @americasdream1265
      @americasdream1265 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the stalks only go through the combine if they break off. my geringhoff 12 row fold up cornhead has choppers under the head to chop the stalks as you pick the corn. It takes some power to do that but to me its worth it to me, some run stalk stompers that sets right below the cornhead and drags over the top of each row mashing the corn down. The corn stalks can be hard on tires or tracks by taking chunks of the rubber off.

    • @Michael-8903
      @Michael-8903 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@americasdream1265 So the top of the plant that is cut off follows into the combine? It looks like it's being pulled down under the head.

    • @mannfamilyfarms381
      @mannfamilyfarms381  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite, it's an 11. 22 feet. Thought about getting the 13 for the 9620 but we have some thick soil and rolling hills, wanted to be sure we could always pull at consistent depth and have the power to keep it moving 7.5mph

    • @mannfamilyfarms381
      @mannfamilyfarms381  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely could! We went with an 8 row so we didn't have to unhook when moving from field to field. it can go down the road just fine. The 12 row folding spoils a guy

    I have a question? Why haven’t you done like your dad did when he was your age? Go start your own farms? *Expand the family business?*

    • @mannfamilyfarms381
      @mannfamilyfarms381  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’ve done exactly that sir, over the past few years we’ve added nearly 1,000 acres all dispersed between my brothers and my cousin. We all use the same equipment because it allows us to have bigger/nicer/more efficient equipment to disperse over more acres. Our truck line is also capable of more diversified jobs due to us young drivers capable of doing more and we did not bale a single bale of hay up until we started getting fully involved in the farm
