Controlled demolition of STS Crane 907 at APM Terminals Barcelona

APM Terminals Barcelona successfully carried out the controlled demolition of STS 907 on 1 July, 2023.
For the demolition of this crane, which was 65 metres high up to the derrick, 33 metres under the spreader and weighed 800 tonnes, APM Terminals and the contracted company set up an earth fill on which the crane was dropped within a safety perimeter.
Traffic routes in the yard were also diverted, both for the demolition and to facilitate the dismantling work on the ground, which was expected to take about a month.
This demolition is part of the project to improve the quay in order to allow the largest container ships in service to operate without restrictions.
