  • Beki river erosion disrupting Barpeta-Abhayapuri Road near Beki Bridge, Shawpur in Barpeta district. Char villages to the west of Barpeta district have been severely affected by recent floods and erosion. Since the past ten days, no government officials or political representatives have reached out to these people.     There are two distinct variety of “floods” in Assam. One that these guys are facing, and then there’s another that the rest of the state faces. One has the stigma of religious identity attached to it, whereas the other one is simply a natural disaster.
