We already pay per mile with bloody fuel duty, so now we will pay 'road' tax, pollution tax, fuel duty tax, vat and now pay per mile?? We will all be on push bikes with our entire belongings draped over the crossbar.
@@Nickbaldeagle02 EV's don't and that's the point made in the video. Why should PPM be for everyone? Just make it for EV's! The reason is simple though! If they only bring it in for EV's then they know it scuppers their agenda as buying EV's will become pointless
@@Nickbaldeagle02 EVs owners get a lot of tax payers money or (incentives as the government likes to call them) for you to own/lease one, also some electric companies are discounting prices for home charging (for a while until your fully contracted up) which is also funded by normal bills payers with petrol cars who get ditty squat apart from shafted.
@@Nickbaldeagle02 hahaha never, you got a home charger?? if not you will pay for it and stuck in a long lease with it, governments don't give give nothing away without getting twice as much back and I want my taxes back. Good luck..
I would like to see a fair system and pay per mile could be the answer. 1. Scrap VED. 2. Scrap all tax on fuel which should bring fuel down to 70-80p a litre. 3. Pay per mile = pensioners that do 25 miles week are better off, average users should be about the same, high milage company reps etc may pay more. This will mean those who drive less pay less, those who drive more pay more. A 100% system. Will not please everyone
As a student that has to drive to uni and back everyday - 60 miles a day. It’s cheaper for me to drive than to take public transport. My tax is £200 a year, insurance is £750 a year and fuel is around £60 a week, if pay per mile comes in. I promise you I’m taking the back roads clocking my miles and taking off the plates
@@thetruckerseye haha I have seen those. Look I’m holding out hope that the government comes up with some miraculous plan and it doesn’t affect the poor. Otherwise I definitely feel we should take a French approach to things
That article was not written by the RAC and they have written a letter to the newspaper about getting that statement retracted. PPM will go on top of your car/truck road tax, which is payed on top of fuel duty which you pay VAT on + all the ULEZ etc will stay in place which in turn = Higher shop prices and lower wages for lorry drivers. Its just another tax for the majority of the working class and another nail in the coffin to get your car off the road.
ICE vehicles already pay a kind of pay per mile duty in the form of fuel tax. What this government will most likely propose is a pay per mile levy not just on EV’s but on all vehicles in addition to the fuel duty already levied on diesel and petrol. So they get a double whammy...
Charge EV's a yearly fee to use the roads based on their weight. After all the only pollution that has been eliminated is what comes out of the tail pipe.
I gave my vehicle up back in January (a 2006 Nissan Note) for financial reasons. I'm fitter for it as I have a half hour walk to work now. Take either the Tories or Labour they both work for the WEF and they want people to be car-less and have you in 15 minute 'cities'. It's all about the elite controlling us plebs.
