The guy who did the voiceovers (the same guy in the MV) is christian yu, a former 3rd gen idol, who also directed and edited the whole thing (he also makes music under the name DPR IAN)
Sorry for the lengthy description I posted in Holssi. But decoding IU's videos takes a lot of time, reviewing the video, watching other reactors, most of whom don't yet know enough about IU to even understand the simplest of things but I watch anyway you never know when someone will see something you missed, which to be honest happens often and why I have started putting revision dates my posts. Did you pick up on the Dandylion seeds floating around IU when she was outside the theater? The snowglobe. Did you catch that there were 2 figures inside it in the opening scene and they were gone when she was holding it in the ending scene? Have no idea what it means yet, but I can guarantee you that it means something & my guess is it means of refers to something coming next. The jellyfish that is connected to the bat which she has to get at the auction. Still have no really good idea about the significance of this. Of course jellyfish live in the sea and she has the song My Sea (great reaction by the way) but not sure how destroying the Jellyfish with a magic bat figures into the overall story of dreaming big and bigger dreams etc. On the map there appearvto be a couple of drawings of Rabbits. Rabbits play a role in her song 23 and the Butterflies at are released from the envelope at the roadside stand figure into both Blueming and You & I. Those are mounted butterflies in a frame. She also uses the word Palette which of course she has a song named Palette that she annouced at the Golden Hour concert would no longer be on her set list. And it is the name of her show. There has to be connection but what it is, is unknown to me. After my 1st listen to Shopper I don't know why but I was disappointed with it. Which was the first time that has ever happened to me with IU. It was several hours before I could listen to it again. Things changed for me the 2nd listen. And it continued to change. It has now found its way onto my playlist. I am always surpised and confused when someone listens to a song once and then makes a determination of the song. Especially when it is a first listen by way of an IU MV. I am not saying or suggesting that a person can't not like an IU song. But regardless of the singer or group if you are investing the time to watch and or listen to it I don't, why not give it a fair shot. And a one time listen really isn't. Being confused about whats hoing on in an IU MV is completely and totally normal. Everybody is to some extent. Trying to discover all the things she has added to add to the depth of meaning and understanding is part of the fun if you like to figure things out or if you just enjoy a good story even if you need others to explain it. Thanks for your reactions to IU. Most people especially in the US can't understand what a big deal this is. IU coming to the US. It has NEVER happened before that a true from the start Korean Soloist who is born and raised in Korea (meaning doesn't speak English or English is a 2nd, 3rd or 4th language) and never toured the US as part of a group has ever tried to break into the US market. ALL the Kpop soloist who have held concerts in the US (most if not all todate have been males) were part of a group that gained a footing in the US and then used that as a foundation to embark on a soloist career. DPR for example, was apart of a boy group and was also born and rasise in Australia . English is his qst language. Over coming the language barrier is extremely difficult. And the challenge in front of IU is tremendous. But nobody in the histiry of Kpop is better equipped to accomplish it. And we need all the help we can get to spread the word about her. Most people if they give her a fair listen over a number of songs well fall in love with her. So again Thanks.
