still new to bg3, havent even made it thru act 1 yet, but im having a blast! your vids are VERY helpful, thank you. totally earned a sub, and here's the spells ive found underrated:
mage hand, but specifically the gith racial since its invis lets you position much easier. VERY useful for the shoves, whether its pushing something into and AoE (like cloud of daggers), pushing them off height, or just turning it into a throwing machine, dmg or healing. its also notable bc like most summons/pets, having an additional body on the field to take away pressure from your main party does help a lot.
sacred flame, even tho it can pretty easily be resisted, not having to have line of sight to cast it makes it much easier to use than fire bolt for example.
thorn whip (or the monks water whip) for the cc they offer in combination with some range when you're just outta melee range has been lovely as well.
vicious mockery, mostly the bard cantrip version, but how impactful it has remained is wild.
bane, specifically after you have the bless on heal ring (i grab it from volo first visit to druid grove) ive found is extremely impactful. being able to bane multiple targets with action while also blessing (and healing) and ally with bonus in 1 turn is huge.
create water (shout out to the water staff in druid grove as well.) very useful for combo with shock or frost, as well as putting out fires. its one of those situational spells thats nice to have when you need, and since shadowheart gets it and can change spells anytime (on top of the water staff) its very easy to manage/plan accordingly.
disguise self/the dlc mask. i dont actually think this one is THAT useful, but its bc my main character is a halfling bard. i can fit into those tiny spaces. those that cannot, can transform into a smaller race and be able to do so. there's been a few moments where being able to take the crawl space route has paid off. not sure if its a bug or intended but you can completely skip the owlbear cave fight entering from the top then immediately leaving. you can also easily grab phalar aluve taking the shortcut next to the selunite outpost fast travel spot.
pretty much any spell that gives you an additional ally i think is very useful. whether thats familiars or spiritual weapons, having another body is great, and some of them can do more than simply be a target. spiritual weapon specifically is useful on shadowheart imo bc its a bonus ability that gives you some dmg, so if no one needs healing/shield of faith, then you can use this, while also keeping shadowheart out of the frontlines.
grease is another favorite, or really any of the large AoE zoning/area denial abilities, especially when you can combo those. similar to create water, but grease can combo with fire. specific shout out as well to the druid's entangle, which similar to spike growth/fog cloud can create two large AoE's, since the fire from grease will also ignite the grass.
guiding bolt and shield of faith will never leave shadowheart in any playthru i do, they are so valuable.
sleep (or laughter) is probably one of my favorite cc's, and you get it from lvl1. sleep specifically pairs extremely well with AoE spells (like shatter) or spells like magic missile. where you may not outright kill an entire group of mobs, but you will lower that groups hp enough they can then be put to sleep and picked off one by one.
speak with animals, featherfall, and lesser restoration are all extremely helpful as well, specifically outside of combat.

just wanted to come back here to add, command is also extremely amazing for a lvl1 spell and i should have included it alongside sleep and laughter.

Longstrider is a *ritual*?! Damn, I need to read spell descriptions more carefully. I could've sworn it was a concentration spell like Expeditious Retreat, too.

Huh, I was wondering what arcane lock is useful for. Also didn't know you can upcast the elemental! Great vid.

I only ever used Arcane Lock to try keeping people out of Z'rell's room so I could loot the place, and it doesn't even prevent the Scrying Eyes from staying outside the doors. They just walk right through it, so I stopped having anyone use it. The Isobel protect fight is very easy when it comes to her room because your whole group is usually in there with her, it's the people down below that you have to rush to save so I don't see why you'd want to Arcane Lock your only way down there save jumping off the balcony.
Edit: Not sure what example you have for Y'llek, idk a spot that's useful to close doors there.

The Isobel fight is to prevent her from getting swarmed on first turn, I showed the main doors but also the side ones and balcony can be closed, preventing more gargoyles from coming in. Crèche has many doors like before the vendor area and other reinforcements coming in various places, but I also meant closed indoor areas overall.
